Psychotic Saturdays!: Six Films Of Family Psychotica



005 - CopyToday is Psychotic Saturday and a great day to celebrate the family. Keeping with the theme posted in the horror movie classic post here are six films that really stress the point that “a family that slays together stays together. These movies show just how far family bonds can drag you into Hell. The devotion and drive that flows in the blood can be gritty, gory and down right horrific. So scream out in insane joy at all things Familiar and Psychotic.






1. Hunter’s Blood (1986)

Hunter's BloodFive "city boys" travel to the country to relax by doing some hunting, drinking Bud, and generally having good time. However, the local inbred backwoods psychos turn the hunters to be the hunted, and they need all the ammo and wits they have to get out of the woods alive. Directed by Robert C. Hughes and starring Sam Bottoms, Kim Delaney and Clu Gulager.







2. American Gothic (1988)

When six friends fly off on a weekend getaway and are suddenly plagued by engine trouble, they're forced to land on a remote island. Looking for shelter, they're grateful to encounter Ma and Pa and their children - an eccentric family living in the island's backwoods. But what begins as simple hospitality turns into a terrifying race for survival as the friends start disappearing one by one ... and turning up dead.





3. Midnight (1989)

The tug of war begins and soon escalates into a deadly conflict. will Midnight have to get a day job and change her name to High Noon? Directed by Norman Thaddeus Vane and starring Lynn Redgrave, Tony Curtis and Steve Parrish.

Blood Salvage (1990)Directed by Tucker Johnston and starring Danny Nelson, Lori Birdsong and Christian Hesler. Twisted tale about a crazy, preaching redneck named Jake who kidnaps people off the highway and performs sick medical experiments on them. He then proceeds to sell their organs on the black market to Mr. Stone. Everything is fine until he kidnaps the handicapped April and finds that she is harder to control than the others.






5. Texas Chainsaw Massacre:The Next Generation (1994)

A group of teenagers get into a car crash in the Texas woods on prom night, and then wander into an old farmhouse that is home to Leatherface and his insane family of cannibalistic psychopaths. Directed by Kim Henkel and starring Renee Zellweger, Matthew McConaughey, and Robert Jacks.






6. House Of 1000 Corpses (2003)

In "House of 1000 Corpses", two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of a local legend known as Dr. Satan. Lost and stranded, they are set upon by a bizarre family of psychotics. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that await.
