3. The Zodiac Killer (1971)

Four girls go on a romping weekend at a lake, and have car problems on the way home. A nice local boy takes them back to his farm, where he lives with his father. “A Grim Becoming” Expected In 2014
DefTone Pictures horror/comedy “A Gim Becoming” is set to release in 2014. The film is being directed by Adam R Steigert and stars Bill Oberst Jr., Britt Griffith, Devanny Pinn, Jessica Cameron and Lynn Lowry. DefTone also announced that other projects can be expected to be released in the coming 2013 year including the Sci-fi B-movie “Ombis” which I have been dying to see!
DefTone Pictures Studios Inc continues to put Buffalo New York on the map with their film productions. Currently in preproduction is their next feature film: a horror comedy entitled A Grim Becoming. Directed by Adam R Steigert (Ombis 2013) and written by Janeen Avery, Christopher Brechtel, Mark Mendola and Adam R Steigert.
Newcomer Christopher Marriott (B.Y.O.D.) is in talks with DefTone to play lead role of Raphael. Raphael is a young, bitter executive who is on the verge of losing a multimillion dollar architectural deal with a large distribution company lead by the awkward Stanford brothers. Raphael suffers a sudden death in his family and has to immediately leave to go to the funeral in his home town of Metzburgh. Seeing this as his big chance to get ahead is Wayne, a jealous co-worker who is in competition with Raphael. Wayne is being played by Syfy's Ghost Hunters and The Black Dahlia Haunting’s (2012) Britt Griffith. As Raphael returns to Metzburgh, he experiences a life changing event: witnessing a Grim Reaper taking a soul. This sighting results in Raphael becoming a Reaper and having to explore his own conscience and the lengths he will go to get his own life back. But Death, played by Michael Sciabarrasi (Ombis, Black Guy on a Rampage: Homicidal Vengeance), has other plans for the naive young executive. In addition, A Grim Becoming also reunites scream queens Devanny Pinn (Jamie) and Jessica Cameron (Life).
DefTone Pictures Studios Inc is excited to be teaming up with Melantha Blackthorne for the first time. Melantha will play Meryl, sister to lead character Raphael. Film icons Lynn Lowry (Mother), Valerie Lynn Hanna (Charlie Stanford), and Bill Oberst Jr.(Phill) will have supporting roles in the film.
DefTone Pictures Studios Inc has once again embraced the great talent of Western New York and will seek many local actors and actresses to complete the cast of A Grim Becoming. Already, Patrick Mallette (Father), Melyssa Jade (Carrie), Mike Sarcinelli (Lance), Christopher Brechtel (Mick) and Aryn Fitzgerald (October) have all signed onto to the cast. Not to mention that there will be plenty of roles as extras to be had as well.
With a June 21, 2014 release date for A Grim Becoming set by DefTone Pictures Studios Inc and principal photography starting in June 2013, the full cast list will be released in May of 2013. Ombis special effects artists Phill Beith and Jill Jovic have once again signed on to do the effects work for the production. DefTone Pictures Studios Inc has also hired indie Cinematographer Matthew Nardone to be the Director of Photography on A Grim Becoming.
In the coming year, DefTone Pictures Studios Inc will be releasing: To Release a Soul, Ombis, Dembela: Part 2, Dembela: Part 3 and, on September 7th 2013, Let it Rain.

“My Amityville Horror” Gets Release Date
“My Amityville Horror hits VOD and select theaters MARCH 15th, 2013, including the subscription VOD service SundanceNOW.
On November 13, 1974, the house at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, New York became a place that locals feared when 23-year-old Ronald DeFeo murdered his entire family under very mysterious circumstances. In September 1977, it became a place the entire world feared when Jay Anson’s book “The Amityville Horror” was published (later adapted into the popular series of films), bringing the house international notoriety and instant entry into the occult history books. Not so much because of the DeFeo murders, but because it told the tale of what happened to the next family who lived there, one year after the massacre. The Lutz family.
In 1975, they were dwellers for all of 28 days before fleeing in mortal terror, the victims of widespread supernatural happenings that pushed them to the brink of madness and had them fearing for their lives. A media circus began that never fully ended. Straight up to their recent deaths, George and Kathy Lutz have never gone back on a single claim. Daniel Lutz was ten years old at the time that his family literally went to hell. Never before in the 35 years since living through the ordeals has he gone on record about his experiences. This is his story, in his words.”

New Teaser For “Oblivion”

Drew Daywalt To Direct “The Hurting Man”

And on a side note "BRING BACK DEATH VALLEY!!!!!!!!”
“The Giant Spider” Bringing Back B-Movie Awesomeness!
When radiation left behind by atomic weapons testing creates a gigantic killer mutant arachnid, it’s up to a trio of scientists (Mike Cook, Billie Jo Konze and James Norgard), an Army general (Mark Haider), and a newspaper reporter (Daniel R. Sjerven) and his fiancée (Shannon McDonough) to figure out how to stop the hungry beast from devouring the entire county.
“The Wicked” Gets Release Date
Image Entertainment released a press release stating that “The Wicked” will be available on DVD April 30th 2013. Proving once more that wicked witches are fast becoming a trend in horror. At least it seems that way to me. I have seen a good amount of films lately that have brought back the more classical maniacal view of the evil conjurers.
Local stories warn that deep in the woods a witch with a ravenous hunger feeds on the flesh of the young. In an abandoned house in the woods, she hunts her victims…and if you try to enter, you’ll never see daylight again. When another child goes missing, a group of local teenagers decide to find out if the urban legend is true. What starts out as a meaningless dare turns into a blood-spattered fight for survival against a mistress of darkness in this unrelenting nightmare from which you may never wake up!
The DVD will also feature “No Soul is Safe: The Making of The Wicked.”
My Review Of “The Haunting In Connecticut 2: The Ghosts Of Georgia”
I wasn’t expecting much going into this film mostly due to the ridiculous title of the picture but I actually enjoyed the film. There was the basic elements here to be far more scarier but where held back by standard effects tricks that now plague paranormal movies almost to the point of making them boring. Yet at moments I felt actual suspense and eerie tension as more dramatic scenes unfolded into real chilling events. The setting and story was creepy and the film version held a far more haunting presence than what I originally imagined from the actual story. The film veered from the true paranormal case with a more morbid, dark representation of the evil spirit haunting the land as well as the family. The action sequences were produced well creating a relief from the mediocre dramatic moments that tended to case me to drift off. I found “Ghosts Of Georgia” to be a far better ghost flick it’s predecessor and think the film could have gained a better reception from audiences had they not gone with the title. This film had a great set up, acceptable acting, plus all the expected moments of creepy chilling paranormal activity. It isn’t going to be a movie that really scares the hell out of anyone over the age of ten but it is a great movie about hauntings. The only downside was the very end after the amped up climax that felt way to hallmark-y, coming off completely cheesy and made for TV. I would tell people to see it and expect a better movie than “The Haunting In Connecticut” or “The Apparition” but don’t expect the same amount of fright that you get with “The Amityville Horror” or even “Grave Encounters”.

My Review Of Alan Rowe Kelly’s “Gallery Of Fear”
“Critic’s Choice” has one of the meanest art critics finding she is part of the exhibit and sets the anthology in motion. The story is one of those over-the-top representations of a super bitch getting her just rewards. It allows each of the other tales to unfold into moments of true terror before ending the anthology in classic “Outer Limits” fashion. Debbie Rochon plays the lead character in this little short that instantly makes you want to see something happen to her, I kind of wanted to see a bit more happen to her because the woman was such a bitch! You could tell how much Rochon enjoyed the role letting it all go to be a loud obnoxious character. I would have liked to have seen her weaken somewhat as the story progressed before her final scene but still it was a great wrap around.
“By Her Hand, Draws You Down” opened up like a surreal vision of haunting sorrowful despair. The story focuses on a couple that have more than their share of heartbreak. It is told in a strange style of mournful dreamscape and supernatural romance. The interactions and emotional connections between the characters created a atmosphere of sorrow that was haunting. Whether or not the story revolves around some vampiric entity or demonic seed that has taken root in the couple’s life is open for interpretation but it gives us a dark drama that is both sophisticated and tragic. This short reminds me of the classic 80’s genre stuff that seemed to romanticize the supernatural in away that was almost dreamlike.
“Down The Drain” is a wild story that roles along like vintage B-movie trash. I loved the exaggeration of personalities portrayed by the characters, mixed with near psycho-vision camera angles. It is a sort of creature feature for the new age that reminds me of a lot of the TROMA studio stuff. The effects are so cheesy and spot on that this story could almost be a complete homage to the awesome era of VHS glory! It was a moment of twisted and complete fun.
“A Far Cry From Home” is one of those straight up classic grindhouse nightmares! Fuck anyone who thinks I will ever go within on some back-wood weekend re-connect and stories like this is the reason why. It is by far my favorite short in the anthology. The monsters in this story were of the human kind that could give Leatherface’s family a run for most fucked up psycho family. Filled with some of the best representations of gore and blood sequences that delighted every twisted ounce of me. It was a total in your face horror story that I didn’t want to see end. This was one of those surrealist moments that you force yourself to disconnect from so you can enjoy the carnage knowing all too well that some part of your mind is trying to imagine how you would act in such a scene. Plus the subject and material this short dealt with is almost an exaggerate feeling a lot of us feel is out there in America now, sharpening their knives, setting their traps and preaching the coming reign of blood that will wash away all the sin. Can I get a AMEN!

A Gratuitous Moment With Sean Kasky
Sean Kasky is one of the many outlandish characters in the twisted and hilarious anthology “Trashology”. The film is a raunchy absurd celebration of Trash Cinema and it’s most holy of icon’s John Waters. It is a fun and witty romp into a world where the mundane can spiral into the extreme, filled with characters that express an exaggerated yet classic caricature of society, exploring an unconstrained and unregulated celebration of social intercourse. The characters portrayed in the anthology take the everyday relationships between people and expand them into a bizarre display of hilariously trashy moments where it is perfectly normal to masturbate in a friends bathroom or find yourself giving in to the suggestions of another which find you naked, on the floor with a hose up your bum while pudding mix is poured into you! Which brings me back to Sean Kasky.
He is a young independent actor that has found himself in many compromising positions when working for Brian Dorton. From giving us all that gratuitous full frontal moment in the short “Doll Parts” as featured in “Theatre Of The Deranged” to dropping trou and spreading cheeks on the floor so chocolate pudding mix can be hosed into your ass canal! Just one of the many many wild and wonderfully crude moments within the anthology “Trashology” that had me bent over laughing. Sean doesn't mind it though, it is all in the name of art and acting. Something that the guy is more than willing to endure for the sake of the role. I asked the actor some tacky, trashy questions about his part in Trashology and he was kind enough to oblige.
ASouthernLife: You have found yourself naked for the camera before, what did you think when you read the script for "Trashology" and Stan's role?
Sean Kasky: My first thought was: Godammit, why is it Brian always casts me naked? No, really…I remember being impressed by this crazy script that Brian had asked me to read for. He’d hired me to work on his films in the past. He and Doug Conner, both of which have always been extremely cool to work for and with. We were shooting a scene once that was a remake of the famous murder of Janet Leigh’s character in the first Psycho but with me, a male, cast in her part. I was meeting Brian and Doug and their posse at the set and I remember Brian taking me aside and saying, “You know, if you are cool with it, there might be some nudity involved.” I said, “I’m cool with it.” And then, Brian says to me, “You know you’re not getting paid, right?” That night I walked around mostly naked or in boxers.
ASouthernLife: What did you think when you read the scene about making the chocolate pie?
Sean Kasky: There was a scene in Doll Parts where, we were at the dailies…Doug and Brian and I. And the nude scene came on. And the film ended and when it was over, I threw a complete tantrum because I thought the nude shot lasted too long. They shortened it for me. It was six seconds long. SIX SECONDS! They are very good at pushing the limits to the level of discomfort. See: Trashology. But they are so great. They totally shortened it for me. What actually made it in the film of me naked is now like 2.35582 seconds long exactly, or so I’m told. I haven’t actually had the chance to time it myself or anything like that. But in answer to your question, I thought the role of Stan was the role I was born to play.
ASouthernLife: When you filmed the pie mixing scene was it totally faked or did you get method with it?
Sean Kasky: Actually, I try to stay in character as much as possible on set. I haven’t had the call for method acting in preparation for any of the parts I've played so far in my career. The fact that Stan does what he does begrudgingly made it very easy for me to have a connection with him. It’s important for me to find some common ground with the character I’m playing, otherwise, the lack of connection is obvious.
ASouthernLife: What was your favorite scene/moment in the movie?
Sean Kasky: Any scene with Beatrice or Melissa. Jenny gave a remarkable performance in that role and I’ve been amused with Doug as Melissa for a while. I think it was the role he was born to play.
ASouthernLife: Have you ever been tempted to make a 'poo' pie for anyone?
Sean Kasky: No, but as we can see in Trashology, there’s apparently a market for that and I’m having my team look into it.

ASouthernLife: Were you a big fan of Trash Cinema before being in "Trashology"?
Sean Kasky: I wasn't as familiar with the genre as I am now. I’m more into dramatic films. Brian’s been promising me a dramatic role for years.
ASouthernLife: If you made a trashy movie about your life what would we see a lot of in the movie?
Sean Kasky: Drug Abuse. Oh! And fornication! And adultery….yeah, adultery but that was way back…what else….let me think…ah! How could I almost forget, rock and roll and drug abuse!
ASouthernLife: What is the trashiest thing you have ever done to someone?
Sean Kasky: I once kicked a girl out of bed for getting vaginal fluids on a set of Ralph Lauren sheets. 650 thread count!
ASouthernLife: What is your favorite John Waters film?
Sean Kasky: Trashology

The Rise Of A New Terrifying Killer: My Interview With “Velvet Vengeance” Actress Dani Bliss Gavit
There have been very few films that have featured a female slasher in the concept most associated with Michael, Jason or Leatherface. Dolly is set to give rise to that very representation of evil as Dani Bliss Gavit is set to take on the role of the ax wielding, brutal slasher wearing a baby doll mask and racking up a sick body count. Dani Bliss Gavit is a true fan of horror with a love of Independent films as you will discover in our interview. Dani had the privilege of being a judge at the Phil Anselmo (Pantera) Housecore Horror Film Festival in San Antonio as well as being a avid competitive runner and burlesque performer. She also has a thing for duct tape as she mentions in our conversation. Now Gavit can add the gorific title of homicidal psycho killer to that ongoing list of awesome! There is a lot about this young newcomer that is both fascinating and inspiring to any generation both in and out of the horror community as I found out in our interview.
ASouthernLife: You are taking on the role of Dolly in "Velvet Vengeance", how did that come about, what was the audition like?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I did a photo shoot with Jeremy at a friend’s funeral home a few months back and it was such an awesome and fun experience. We did some pretty cool shots and I got to sit inside a casket and learned how to use the embalming gear. That was my first experience working with Jeremy and it was great, he made me feel at ease and was great at directing me on what to do next, and it really showed in the photos. A few months later he offered me the role of Dolly and I was thrilled. I did not have a formal audition.
ASouthernLife: Had you seen the short film prior to casting?
Dani Bliss Gavit: Yes, I had seen “Velvet Vengeance” at the Bloodbath Festival in Dallas prior to being cast as Dolly. I really loved the film, it’s a great fusion of action and slasher film. I also loved that it had a female killer, Dolly is truly a force to be reckoned with.
ASouthernLife: The feature adaptation is going to take a bit of a different approach to the story, how does that effect your character? How do you see Dolly?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I really like the new take on the original script. Dolly is going to be far more threatening than the original and is far more amped up. She will truly be a horrific villain.
ASouthernLife: Dolly is a pretty pivotal character in the story that Alice faces, Andee is going through some rigorous action training, how are you preparing for the role of Dolly? Learning any killer ax wielding skills?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I do a lot of strength training, I take aerial silk classes which helps build my upper and lower body strength. I run and do military style obstacle courses and mud racing which involves climbing over traverse walls, crawling under barb wire, jumping over fire and carrying heavy objects uphill and downhill. I also take kickboxing and yoga. I probably should start working on my ax wielding skills, could be fun!
ASouthernLife: If given the opportunity to choose, do you have a style of Doll mask picked out for the character?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I find porcelain dolls to be the scariest, the ones with the glass eyes that seem to watch you from every corner of the room, that would be the style that I would go for.
ASouthernLife: Has preparing for this role made you want to do more acting in the future?
Dani Bliss Gavit: Yes, absolutely! I love acting, especially anything that involves action and lots of blood. It is a fun and rewarding experience and you get to meet lots of awesome people and seeing the end product is always exciting.
ASouthernLife: What are some of your favorite horror films and who are some of your favorite directors?
Dani Bliss Gavit: My favorite director is Sam Raimi. I am a huge fan of the Friday the 13th films and the Evil Dead films. My favorite horror movies would have to be Trick r’ Treat, Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, Nekromantik, Tod Browning’s Freaks and Cannibal Holocaust. My taste is a little eclectic, I enjoy a little bit of everything.
ASouthernLife: Is there any subgenre of horror your more into or is it just horror in general that you like?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I love all horror. My favorite subgenres are slasher films, the gorier the better, and I love backwoods hillbilly movies, I also love zombie movies and silent films and foreign films, the French have been putting out some excellent movies such as “Martyrs” and “Inside”. I also really love the exploitation films of the 70s such as “Blood Sucking Freaks” and “The Sinful Dwarf”. I really do love it all!
Dani Bliss Gavit: I love the running community, everybody is very supportive and positive. Running helps you explore places you would not usually get to go. I’ve run through cities, on overpasses, across bridges, in state parks, and out in the woods. Life slows down when you’re running and all of a sudden you notice things that you haven’t seen before and would have missed if you had just been driving by.
ASouthernLife: Now as far as the Burlesque dancing how long have you been doing Burlesque and what attracted you to the art form?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I have been performing burlesque for the last six month and have two years of dance training. I love dancing and performing and the freedom that goes with burlesque and how it has implied sexuality and is completely respected as an art form.
ASouthernLife: Do you find that even now with the more mainstream appeal that Burlesque has received that people still have misconceptions about what it is?
Dani Bliss Gavit: Yes, I do believe that there still are some misconceptions about what it is, I’ve seen protestors outside of burlesque shows with signs stating that burlesque is a sin and evil. For the most part though, burlesque is very well received and when I tell people that I am a burlesque dancer they are usually curious about it and rarely judgmental.
ASouthernLife: Name one thing about yourself that most people would not know unless they got to know you?
Dani Bliss Gavit: I have an obsession with Duct Tape and can make almost anything out of it. I make and sell Duct Tape purses, wallets and other accessories.

New Horror Thriller “Blood Red” Seeks Funding
The idea for the story is - What would happen if one day you really met a serial killer. The story is about a student, "Megan Taylor" who inadvertently meets a disfigured serial killer called "Devlin Drago" and is given an ultimatum.... Help him or face unspeakable retribution to her or the people she cares about. You can check out more on this project and read a in-depth synopsis on the film’s plot at the Company’s website. You can also check out the status of the movie over at Indiegogo where the film’s crowd funding is located.
Nicola Posene starred in Disney channels' phenomenally successful “Life Bites“. Nicola has landed roles in such television shows as CBBC’s ‘Mysti’, ITV’s ‘Echo Beach’ and BBC’s “Casualty”. As well as TV roles she has had leading roles in feature films such as ”Deadly Departed”, “Axed”, Fire Box and “Dawn of the Dragon Slayer”. The lead character of Megan Taylor is a challenging role and requires an actress with ability, focus and believability that can engage the audience throughout the movie. Ahead of our list of actresses was Nicola Posener, an intelligent actress with strong on screen charisma. Luckily, when we approached her she had already heard about the Blood Red Project. We were also pleased when she loved the script. If everything goes to plan and schedules allow, Nicola will be playing the part of Megan.
