Well Go USA Announces US Rights to Canadian Thriller "RIVER"

Well Go USA Entertainment has announced the acquisition of US distribution rights to RIVER, directed by Jamie M. Dagg and starring Rossif Sutherland (HIGH LIFE), Ted Atherton (MAX PAYNE), Sara Botsford (THE FOG), and Vithaya Pansringarm(ONLY GOD FORGIVES).

In RIVER, American doctor John Lake (Sutherland), volunteering in the north of Laos, becomes a fugitive after he intervenes in the sexual assault of a young woman. When the assailant's body is pulled from the Mekong River, things quickly spiral out of control.

The Canadian-born Sutherland, half-brother to Kiefer Sutherland (“24”), is best known for his role in the award-winning HIGH LIFE (2009), as well as a supporting turn in Bruce McDonald’s HELLIONS, which released earlier this year after a successful World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. He also appeared alongside father Donald Sutherland in 2010’s THE CON ARTIST.

RIVER’s World Premiere marked Dagg’s third appearance at the acclaimed Toronto International Film Festival, where his previous two shorts, WAITING and SUNDAY, also made their debut. It was included in TIFF’s prestigious DiscoverySection, “where Festival audiences will find the future of filmmaking," said Cameron Bailey, TIFF's Artistic Director. "You can expect to uncover thrilling new voices, inspiring storytellers and hidden gems among this fantastic showcase of work from some of the most exciting new directors from around the world,” he said.

“It’s terrific when we can find a film so riveting, it holds on to you from beginning to end,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA Entertainment. “That gripping tension is what’s so exciting about it - [Sutherland] is so raw, and so believable, that you really want to see him escape, and the tension just builds and builds - it's nearly claustrophobic. I was really impressed,” she said. The film is currently scheduled for a Summer 2016 theatrical release.

The deal was negotiated between Doris Pfardrescher at Well Go USA Entertainment and Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers.

New Sci-fi "STAR LEAF" Teams With NASA

The creators of the sci-fi horror film “STAR LEAF” are having a contest to promote a space launch by aerospace company RocketStar at NASA’s Cape Canaveral 39c Launch Pad in the coming weeks. The launch will be filmed by Discovery Channel Canada.

According to a recent article in Popular Mechanics, New York-based RocketStar technologies has designed a single-stage rocket capable of reaching orbital altitudes using its Aerospike engine technology. RocketStar hopes to lead the way in the new space economy, allowing anyone to put a small CubeSat Satellite into space for around $6,000.

The first launch will be a test to reach 10,000 feet in altitude. Star Leaf Enterprises is having a contest to decide what exactly should be put in the rocket as part of the test flight. Winners will receive “Star Leaf” autographed DVDs and merchandise. NASA will not allow any actual cannabis on the flight – but any item (cannabis-inspired only) under two ounces is allowed. Contest submissions can be tweeted to @starleafmovie on Twitter.

Founder and CEO of RocketStar Christopher Craddock says the technology can eventually offer cannabis entrepreneurs future “space delivery” of their products to orbiting space stations, or orbital drops anywhere in the world in 20 minutes (where legal).

Whether the ability to launch “space weed” chalks up to anything more than a publicity stunt for cannabis companies and entrepreneurs or not, it still offers the public the opportunity to reach out to the cosmos as part of a booming new space industry being led by civilian and private contractors.

The film “Star Leaf” is about an extra-terrestrial strain of marijuana that lands on earth in the distant past. The film’s producers are excited to be a part of RocketStar’s early launch testing and realize the opportunity to have “ET Weed” in real life simply can’t be missed.

“It might sound silly to some, but the idea of being able to connect a concept in the film to something tangible in real life is amazing,” says the film’s director, Richard Cranor. “Why not launch weed into space? It might prevent an invasion from an aggressive alien species. You never know.”

Submit Your Contest Ideas by December 3, 2015, to:

(All possible launch items must weigh under 2 ounces. CANNOT BE ACTUAL CANNABIS.)

Premier Date of Holiday Horror Film Award-Winning “All Through The House"

Award-winning Los Angeles filmmaker Todd Nunes will premier his holiday horror film ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE at the PDXtreme Portland Underground Film Festival Saturday, December 5. The horror film is a production of Los Angeles-based The Readmond Company and screens at 7:00pm at the Academy Theater, 7818 Southeast Stark St., Portland, OR 97215. Tickets are $30 for the full festival pass and include three short films including Night of the Slasher (directed by Shant Hammasian). More information at http://www.pdxtremefest.com.

"If I asked Santa for a classic slasher film, 'All Through The House' is exactly what I want under the tree,” says PDXtreme Festival Director Jeremy Janz. “Todd Nunes delivers on the 80's nostalgia and Ashley Mary Nunes is a scream queen on the rise. We're proud to be screening it at PDXtreme Fest."

“I’m excited to screen ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE in Portland,” says Todd Nunes, writer and director of ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE. “This is a fun, scary film that Portland audience will definitely get a kick out of.” Nunes’ sister Ashley Mary Nunes, stars in the 80s-style slasher film featuring a deranged Santa Slayer who rips through the town of Napa, California for some yuletide-terror.

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE was recently awarded Best Local Feature at San Francisco’s Another Hole in the Head Film Festival. The film also won three awards at Hollywood’s RIP Horror Film Festival in October:

* Official Winner of Best Slasher, Todd Nunes for ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE
* Audience Choice Award ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE
* Best Editing, ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE was also nominated for the RIP Festival’s Best Music Score and Best Ensemble.

“ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE is a horrifically titillating Christmas tale with a holiday surprise from Santa,” says, L.J. Rivera, founder and director of the RIP Horror International Film Festival. “We at RIP Horror were ecstatic to give these awards to ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE and present their world premier at our festival.”

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE stars scream queens Ashley Mary Nunes (SYFY’S ROBOT COMBAT LEAGUE), Jessica Cameron (TRUTH OR DARE), and Jennifer Wenger (TALES OF HALLOWEEN, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE). The film’s gory special effects were created by Tommy Pietch of SYFY’S FACE OFF and STAR TREK: RENEGADES.

Fifteen years ago, a peaceful Christmas neighborhood was engulfed by fear when five-year-old Jamie Garrett was mysteriously taken from her bedroom, never to be seen again. Now on Christmas break, Rachel Kimmel comes home from college to find her neighborhood struck again by a reign of terror. A violent killer is hiding behind a grisly Santa mask, leaving a bloody trail of slaughtered women and castrated men to the steps of the Garrett house. Rachel finds herself in a horrifying nightmare as she discovers the twisted secret behind the mask.

“This slasher has been brewing in my mind since I was a kid,” says Director/Writer Todd Nunes. “It’s not a rehash of popular Christmas horror movie subplots, like punishing the naughty, Santa obsessed psychos, or death by antlers. This is a dark, scary, violent story that delivers on a big bloody body count, beautiful girls, and lots of terrifying action. It’s everything I love to see in a horror movie - every murder is shown on screen and the anti-hero is a killer with a diabolical, sadistic mystery.”

“Although I loved my character because she is strong and complex, I’m really drawn to the twisted and crazy characters she meets in this movie,” says actress Ashley Mary Nunes (as Rachel Kimmell). “The Killer in ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE is disturbing, gross and really unique - I’m fascinated by the depraved impulses. I know that everyone is going to love all the gore and violence, but there is also a twisted mystery that ties it all together like a big Christmas bow.”

ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE is a 95-minute film shot in 21 days in the summer of 2014 in Benicia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Lake Arrowhead, CA. Director/Writer Todd Nunes graduated with honors from The Los Angeles Film School and studied screenwriting at UCLA's Writers' Program. This is the first film by Los Angeles-based The Readmond Company.

FULL CAST: Ashley Mary Nunes (ROBOT COMBAT LEAGUE), Jessica Cameron (TRUTH OR DARE), Melynda Kiring (THE FOG LADY), Jennifer Wenger (JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE), Natalie Montera, Lito Velasco, Jason Rayer, Johanna Rae (NATURAL BORN FILMMAKERS), Cathy Garrett, Matt Poeschl (ENTOURAGE), Danica Riner, Kelsey Carlstedt, Lyndon Laveaux, Justice Lee, Sarah Miller, Milijana Riner, Noah Boylen, John Nunes, and Sky Boylen.

FULL CREW: Stephen Readmond (Producer), Christopher Stanley (Producer), Todd Nunes (Director/Writer), Ryan J.
