Sodom & Chimera Productions has announced production has wrapped on Daughter of Dismay,
the latest blending of arthouse and horror from filmmaker James Quinn. Daughter of Dismay was filmed deep in the Austrian woods. The first narrative short film in the history of cinema to be shot and presented in
70mm IMAX, the original negatives are going to be sent to Los Angeles, where 70mm IMAX, regular 70mm and 35mm prints will be struck for exhibition ahead of a 2019 festival run.
Of the shoot, Quinn said, "Daughter of Dismay was always supposed to be a big project, presented
in the most epic format it could be presented in. At first we were aiming for regular 70mm, but upgraded to 70mm IMAX only weeks before the shoot. We'd like for people to not just watch this film, but to be completely immersed in it and feel everything that's
happening. 70mm IMAX was exactly what we needed. Not just that, we felt like the world needed a different kind of IMAX presentation for a change, not a big Hollywood blockbuster or a space documentary, but an artistic, heartfelt film with horror elements,
something that no one could imagine in this format."
Quinn hired Ben Brahem Ziryab as the director of photography. The score of the film will be created by Joseph Bishara, the mastermind behind the musical
compositions of films like the Insidious series, The Conjuring 1 & 2,
Annabelle and Dark Skies.
Visual effects artist Justin Schenck, who has previously worked on the effects of
Swordfish and the cult TV series "The Exorcist", boarded as a producer.
Daughter of Dismay tells the surreal and mystical tale of an emotionally broken witch. She enters the darkness of the woods to fulfill her biggest desire, for which she takes extreme and radical measures that will have sinister consequences. Portrayed
in elegant painting-like, the film is an epic, moving and emotional trip through a world of witchcraft and occultism, leading to a heartbreaking and melancholic finale.

Sean Hartofilis' second feature, folk horror "Covadonga" is set to be released worldwide October 31st. The film has shown at festivals in Spain, Ireland, England, the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, as well as some New York theaters including Anthology Film Archives and The Museum of the Moving Image, and has won awards along the way including Best Film, Best Narrative, Best Score, Best Actor, and Best Director.
Covadonga is an Irish Gothic folk horror freakout about a widowed songwriter at a wooded lake house who sees his dark past pervading when a mysterious young couple trespasses on his property. "In Covadonga, I sought to do everything I've feared in order to mine something new, within myself, and, with any luck and all due reverence, within cinema" said Hartofilis "I star in the film, play and sing original songs throughout, dance, cry, swim, and sink. And I do it all in a pair of underwear. I merge, maybe forgo, genres, embracing everything from silent cinema to concert films, because life has everything after all, transcends genre, however we resist, and so does the best art. I lay bare my emotions, insecurities, fears, and all my love in an effort to emerge cleansed and renewed. I believe in the results and am heartened by the experience of those who’ve seen it." https://covadonga.film/#press
A new poster and trailer has been released for horror movie "The Prodigy". The film is directed by Nicholas McCarthy and stars Taylor Schilling, Jackson Robert Scott, Peter Mooney and Colm Feore. It is due out February 8th 2019.
A mother concerned about her young son’s disturbing behavior thinks something supernatural may be affecting him.
Ellen Wander, CEO of Film Bridge International (Winnie Mandela, Misconduct, Marshall, and Spinning Man) and Gabriela Revilla Lugo of Revek Entertainment (The
Tribes of Palos Verdes, The Last Weekend in May, Gone: VR 360) announce the upcoming feature Trick, a horror thriller to be directed by genre master Patrick
Lussier (My Bloody Valentine, Drive Angry, Terminator: Genisys) and written by Todd Farmer, alongside Lussier.
The story centers on an elusive serial killer, who descends upon a small town annually, bringing terror and death. He is responsible for gruesome murders year
after year, each in different jurisdictions and seemingly unrelated. No one believes this could be the same killer. Detective Denver has faced Trick once before - he shot and killed him. Or so everyone keeps telling him. However, Denver knows Trick is
out there and he's coming back for revenge.
"After much discussion with Director Lussier, Dermot was the only choice for this role and we are ecstatic that he was able to take on the project." stated Wander.
Dermot Mulroney (The Family Stone, The Wedding Date) plays Detective Mike Denver. Denver puts his works before anything else in life, including his own marriage but his no-nonsense attitude and steadfast approach makes him a perfect fit for
a career in law enforcement. Against everyone else's judgement, he is convinced that Trick is not only alive and well, but the one responsible for a series of gruesome murders recurring over several years.
Prolific actor Mulroney, has starred in over 70 films in a career spanning more than 3 decades. Most recently, he filmed an episode for the highly anticipated Amazon series "Homecoming" starring Julia Roberts, his co star in the box office hit My
Best Friend's Wedding.
Writer Todd Farmer has worked with Patrick Lussier previously. He has written several genre films including Jason X, My Bloody Valentine and Drive Angry (alongside Lussier).
Ellen S. Wander of Film Bridge International will produce and handle worldwide sales for the film. Gabriela Lugo will also serve as producer. Additionally, Film Bridge International has partnered Chimney's Fredrik Zander
to handle post-production.
Swedish cult movie maker
Jonas Wolcher launches his first music video this year. This time he brings you at the movies in "A Life Pretending with The Swedish duo
Mechatronic. It's the band's consist of singer Wilhelm Äretun and keyboardist Emma Hortlund upcoming single and latest music video. Emma plays a bored cleaning droid at a theater who gets
out in the night to discover the city of Gothenburg.
AN UPTEMPO TUNE WITH A SAD STORY
Jonas is known for his really crazy videos and movies such as the cult classic
DIE ZOMBIEJÄGER (2005). The story about "A Life Pretending" this lonely cleaning droid who wants to leave her home and seek adventure. The song itself is a real uptempo song but by adding a sad touch to the pictures it really puts it to another level and
time. Jonas always takes a lot of time to improve a music video.
Jonas: "What I've learned from the features I've directed or produced that time is always of the essence but when creating art such as music videos or paintings you put your body and soul onto a journey to someplace you probably never been before, that takes
a lot of effort and hours. I try to make videos no one have seen before and leave a piece of me inside. With Mechatronic's was exactly how I felt while producing the video. The final result become something much stronger than the previous drafts. It had to
wait and see, just feast your eyes to the warm colors in the cinema comparing to the cold and unfriendly outside. I think we nailed it this time.
Even in this video we have the actor Malte Aronsson playing the theater manager. Malte has been in Jonas previous music videos and in played his controversial
CANNIBAL FOG (2014).
Emma: "It was a long, cold and very fun day when we recorded the music video to A Life Pretending. We started filming the “live clip”, showing in the movie theater, dressed in summer clothes. We swept us in warm blankets between the takes, but were still
ice cold after a while, and Emma in her sleeveless dress could hardly play on the keyboard with her stiff fingers. On film we looked all red nosed and frozen, with bright red fingers to white keys, but that freezing feeling was nicely removed afterward in
the color setting".
David Eric Nilsson: "I was the cam-operator, did all the grading, eyes and some of the editing. The hardest thing for me was to keep my fingers warm during the shooting. That morning in January was a very sunny but chilly one. Below zero temperature and
a icing breeze was the weather we worked in.
A COSTUME FOR A DROID
The robot suit created by prop designer Gustav Ljungdahl wasn’t much warmer, and since the robot scenes was recorded later in the evening the temperature had dropped even further. Emma was at first a bit nervous about acting in front of the
camera, but with the professional coaching by the experienced director Jonas Wolcher it was no problem when the time came.
It was a good thing she could feel comfortable in the situation since the robot suit attracted both eyes and comments. Especially at McDonalds where we went for a break to have a coffee and warm up.
David Eric Nilsson: "I had in mind of a pair of droid eyes when I created hers. Jonas wanted them to look unnatural and ice cold as the climate she walks into. I think we did a terrific job when creating those creepy robotic eyes.
Emma: "The music video is now finished and ready for release and we are very satisfied with the fantastic result".
