Great thanks to the BookNook for bringing Werewolves of New Idria to my attention before the series was 2 or 3 volumes in….

Echoes–Rick R. Reed

Rick and Ernie have found the perfect loft apartment on Chicago’s west side. But before they are even settled, Rick begins having strange “dreams” that seem all too real. A young man, emaciated, with sad brown eyes, appears to him, frightening and obsessing him.
From their next-door neighbor, Paula, Rick learns of the gay couple, Karl and Tommy, who lived there before them. Paula had been close to them and Tommy’s mysterious disappearance still pains her. When she shares a photo of her with Tommy and Karl, Rick is shocked and troubled. Tommy is the man who has appeared to him in his dreams.
The dreams and the revelation put Rick on a quest to discover the truth about Tommy’s disappearance. It’s a quest that will lead him to Karl, Tommy’s lover, who may know more about Tommy’s disappearance than he’s telling, and a confrontation with a restless spirit who wants only to, finally, rest in peace...

“The Woman”

A dark and twisted journey through man’s inability to live at peace with a multi-cultural and socially diverse natural state manifests in this demented tale of a family that has warped moral values about life and how they manifest when faced with an unknown culture and lifestyle. I didn’t even know that lesbians were on the endangered species list! This is an outrage. Someone should start a charity to raise awareness or a benefit rave, do something.

Anyway here is the synopsis for “The Woman”:

Family man and lawyer Christoper Cleek (Sean Bridgers) must do what he can to protect his family when he comes into contact with a feral woman (Pollyana McIntosh) living in the woods near his isolated country home. Through a series of harrowing encounters Cleek and his family quickly discover there is more to this woman than anyone would suspect and that sometimes the devil wears a handsome face.

“Tucker & Dale vs. Evil” Trailer

"The pic is a hilariously gory, good-spirited horror comedy, doing for killer rednecks what Shaun of the Dead did for zombies. Tucker and Dale are two best friends on vacation at their dilapidated mountain house, who are mistaken for murderous backwoods hillbillies by a group of obnoxious, preppy college kids. When one of the students gets separated from her friends, the boys try to lend a hand, but as the misunderstanding grows, so does the body count."

“Night Of The Living Dead” UK Style

Synopsis:In 2012,the deceased have risen from their graves with only one instinct-to feed on the living. As academics speculate on the scientific cause of the phenomena, theologians point to the Armageddon foretold in the Book of Revelation. As the cities are over run and civilization crumbles, a family take refuge from the undead army in an isolated farmhouse in West Wales. But the greatest threat is already among them.

Directed by James Plumb and written by Plumb and Andrew Jones. The film begins shooting this September 24th in Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Cardiff in South Wales, UK.

My gut rotting reaction is “why”! There have been countless revisions of the Romero classic and instinctively I question why anyone would want to embarrass themselves by producing another run of the mill rip off of the film. However, this it’s the Brits and they are well known for having a unforeseen twist on classic films and there imagination capability sometimes seems to surpass Hollywood. I mean why else would it seem that American media seems to rip off every British movie and tele concept that scores big with audiences. Anyway, I am actually looking forward to the end result on this film. Maybe they will saturate it with absurd and extreme apocalyptic social paranoia and mental superstitious overload – like a southern televangelist at a weekend youth revival…
