"Alien" Prequel News

72 year-old director Ridley Scott sat down with the Independent where he dropped a few little nuggets about his upcoming pair of “Alien” prequels.
The anticipation for his next project is building to fever pitch: it will be a two-part prequel to Alien, shot in 3D. Scott was never asked to make a sequel to Alien; that honour went to James Cameron, before a further two sequels and two Alien vs Predator spin-offs milked the franchise dry. But with the Lost co-creator Damon Lindoff polishing the first prequel's script, you can sense the competitor in Scott, desperate to put his stamp back on the film series that launched him. "Jim's raised the bar and I've got to jump to it," he says, in a friendly jibe at Cameron. "He's not going to get away with it."

Set 30 years before the 1979 original, so with no room for Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley, the prequels will explore the origins of the deadly aliens. “The film[s] will be really tough, really nasty,” he notes. “It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?”

New "Monsters" Poster and Trailer

It's our turn to adapt.
Monsters was produced by Allan Niblo and James Richardson of Vertigo Films (Bronson, StreetDance), the film was shot as a road movie, travelling through Guatemala, Mexico and the US, involving local people alongside its key cast Scoot McNairy (In Search of a Midnight Kiss) and Whitney Able (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane).
Six years ago previously, a NASA probe returning to earth with samples of an alien life form, crashed over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear, and half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures"...  The story begins when a US journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
Gareth Edwards' Monsters, due in theaters on October 29th.

Hell Hollow- Ronald Kelly

Hell Hollow
by Ronald Kelly

From out of a shadowy backwoods hollow, echoes a dark threat from the past, nearly a century lost and forgotten.
The rural town of Harmony, Tennessee possessed a disturbing secret; a secret so ancient that most of its residents were completely unaware of it. Even the last survivors of a vigilante raid long ago have filed the tragic events of that autumn night away, totally unaware of the evil that remains, dormant, but forever patient, among the tall pines and thick-leaved kudzu of a place known only as Hell Hollow.
There it would have remained, unrevealed, if not for a handful of unknowing participants. Four kids, bored for excitement during one of the hottest summers on record. A killer on the run, dodging his latest atrocity. And a rape victim on a deadly mission – scarred in both body and mind. All have a hand in bringing forth an unspeakable evil from the dark woods of Hell Hollow.
He is a skeletal figure in top hat and tails, brandishing a handful of magical cards and a patented elixir that was brewed in the very depths of Purgatory.
A Note from the Publisher:
This MASSIVE new novel marks Ronald Kelly's triumphant return to the top of the horror genre. At 500 pages in length, this is also a return to the good old fashioned days when storytellers really knew how to captivate their audience. Hell Hollow and Ronald Kelly's new collection Midnight Grinding and Other Twilight Terrors are certain to be a must-have collectibles in the years to come!

'The Exorcist and Legion' by William Peter Blatty Limited Edition Release

The Exorcist and Legion Special Edition
by William Peter Blatty

Artwork by: Keith Minnion
About this Special Edition:
Featuring two classic William Peter Blatty novels in one beautiful volume for the first-time ever, this oversized deluxe special edition will be a must-have for any collector of horror! This incredible collector's edition also includes original B&W artwork by acclaimed artist Keith Minnion and a career spanning interview conducted by Cemetery Dance Managing Editor Brian Freeman, covering Blatty's life and career from the 1950s to the present. Both the Limited Edition and the Lettered Edition are signed by William Peter Blatty and there are no plans at this time to publish a trade edition of this special volume.

A Note From the Author:
"I have for many years envisioned The Exorcist and Legion to be one continuous read, even though the former is a fact-based, clearly 'religious thriller,' while the story of Legion delivers more excitingly on the level of a pure 'entertain-ment.' Never-the-less, it is Legion and not The Exorcist that is by far the more ambitious work in that the demonic homicides that police Lt. Kinderman is investigating are of much lesser concern to him than solving that case of cosmic homicide that for eons, and for so many and for so long, has been the foremost stumbling block to belief in a benevolent Creator, namely the so-called  'Problem of Evil,' to which Legion brazenly offers a solution."

"Sandman" Gets TV Deal

Warner Bros. TV, in conjunction with their buds over at D.C., will adapt the Gaiman series into its own TV series, with “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke the frontrunner to run the show. Morpheus, aka Oneiros, The Shaper, and about a dozen other names. He’s also the lead character in Neil Gaiman’s seminal D.C. comic book series “The Sandman”, the series that helped launch D.C.’s Vertigo imprint.

Various people have tried to bring Gaiman’s vision to the big screen in the past, but all have failed spectacularly. Gaiman is not yet involved with this WB attempt.

More Images for "The Walking Dead"

David Tennant's Peter Vincent in Fright Night

Peter Vincent - the character featured in Tom Holland's 1985 film Fright Night - is being dusted off for an upcoming Fright Night remake. And he's unrecognizable in more ways than one. Gone is the old coat and white hair. In comes the Chriss Angel style with his flowing black hair. It's no secret that Peter Vincent is going to be a master of illusion in the redo. He's a Vegas act. One that has a regular show at the Hard Rock apparently called "Fright Night" and, below, you'll find a look at actor David Tennant as Vincent on a banner.

"The Crate" by Stephen King, his long lost NOVELLA in "Shivers VI"

Shivers VI edited by Richard Chizmar to the printer and it contains a huge surprise: "The Crate" by Stephen King, his long lost NOVELLA written in the late 1970s that hasn't seen print in over 30 years and has never been in one of his collections!

This is classic, old fashioned Stephen King and 99.9% of his fans don't even know this novella exists... but later this year it'll be readily available to ALL readers for the first-time ever in Shivers VI, which will be published as an affordable trade paperback!
Shivers VI is by far the largest volume in the series to date and it will also be the first volume to be published as a Limited Edition signed by the editor for the collectors in addition to the affordable trade paperback edition for general readers!
But that's just the beginning of the amazing contents in the latest volume in this acclaimed anthology series! Read on for details!
About the Book:
Cemetery Dance Publications is proud to announce the sixth entry in this award-nominated and best-selling anthology series!
Shivers VI weighs in at 410 pages and contains more than 110,000 words from today's most popular authors of horror and suspense including Stephen King, Peter Straub, Al Sarrantonio, Jay Bonansinga, Lisa Tuttle, David B. Silva, Melanie Tem, Brian Hodge, Brian Keene, Alan Peter Ryan, Blake Crouch and Jack Kilborn, Bev Vincent, Brian James Freeman, Norman Prentiss, and many others.
Two of the longest pieces are a long lost novella, "The Crate" by Stephen King, which was only published once and hasn't been in print in more than three decades, and "A Special Place: The Heart of A Dark Matter" by Peter Straub, a novella that is "creepy to the core" and "shines a terrible light on the backstory of Straub's acclaimed A Dark Matter" according to the coveted Starred Review from Publishers Weekly.

Drive In Massacre Movie

"Expose" Remake becomes "Stalker"

The ever-working producer Jonathan Sothcott dropped us a line today to inform us that Exposé, a remake of the 1970's film of the same name, has undergone a title change, and of course he hit us off with some new artwork as well.
The flick has been renamed to Stalker because as Sothcott put it, "The title Exposé doesn't really mean anything, and it just wasn't sticking."
Synopsis
Following a stress-induced breakdown after producing a bestseller, writer Paula Martin (Anna Brecon) retreats to Bidford House, her childhood holiday home, to get away from it all and begin work on her next novel. However, the old house is full of secrets and mystery that distract and disturb the fragile Paula. She calls her agent for help to take the pressure off, and Linda (Jane March) arrives, appearing to be a godsend who can help get Paula back on track.
But all is not as it seems. Is Linda a serial killer who's been stalking Paula for years? With slimy journalist Robert Gainer (Billy Murray) seemingly on a mission to ruin Paula with a story of her breakdown, it's left to her analyst, Leo Fox (Colin Salmon), to race to her rescue ... but will he arrive in time?

Bruce Campbell talks Frankenstein

Bruce Campbell spoke about Bruce Campbell vs. Frankenstein, his upcoming sequel to My Name is Bruce while promoting the new Blu-ray release of Evil Dead. Today, another interview popped up in which Campbell speaks in further detail about Bruce Campbell vs. Frankenstein, even going so far as to offer his 'wish list' cast including Robert Englund as a 'tough guy' and Kane Hodder as Frankenstein?
When speaking of all the horror icons he'd like to have in the film, Campbell tells the Hero Complex Blog, “I want to give them other stuff to do. I want to have Kane Hodder be very particular about what he eats. I want Robert Englund to be a tough guy, like he knows tae kwon do or something. I want to find out the hidden sides of all these people. Some will play themselves, some will play alternate characters as well. I may approach Kane Hodder to play Frankenstein. He could be Kane Hodder himself fighting himself as Frankenstein.”
