“Huff” Puts New Spin On Three Little Pigs Tale

New Horror/Thriller “Huff” has just wrapped principle photography and promises to bring a new angle to the whole Three Little Pigs Story. Based on the little synopsis on this script top sheet- some wolves are harder to flee from. Directed by Paul Morrell and costarring Charlie O’Connell, Natasha Alam, Elina Madison and Clint Howard, “Huff” had a 13-day shooting schedule. Principal photography kicked off on location in San Francisquito Canyon on Dec. 5 and wound up there Sunday. Producers are aiming at a theatrical release by September 2012.
huff-movie-script
Here is the extended plot line from the movies Facebook Page:
In this dark, allegorical adaptation of The Three Little Pigs, Virgil “Huff” Huffington (Charlie O’Connell) is an abusive stepfather to three teenage girls living in poverty in rural Southern California. Huff is on the verge of a lucrative drug deal that will finally give him the money to escape his miserable life and retire in Mexico in style with his sexy mistress, Laci (Natasha Alam).
Huff’s plan begins to unravel when his battered wife, Lorelei (Elina Madison), secretly gives Huff’s drug money to her three daughters to run away and seek better lives for themselves. This triggers a chain of rage-induced asthma attacks (yes, Huff “huffs and puffs”), violence, and murders as Huff attempts to locate the three runaways and recover his money.
Brixi (Amber Bollinger), the oldest and smartest daughter, must fight for survival as she attempts to protect her sisters from their beastly stepfather.
huff122111_charlie_clint
Charlie O’Connell, younger brother of Jerry O’Connell (Stand By Me, Jerry Maguire), has signed on to play the title role of Huff. The younger O’Connell is best known as The Bachelor (2005) and makes a departure from his handsome charmer persona by assuming the role of a manipulative, volatile, asthma-stricken stepfather who adeptly uses Bible scripture to oppress, manipulate and abuse his wife and three little stepdaughters.
July 2010 Playboy cover model Natasha Alam (“True Blood,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”) shows up as Huff’s kinky mistress and source of funds for his big drug deal. Insiders say to expect a “closed set” for her scenes. Mayra Leal, fresh off the success of her memorable role in 2010 action-thriller Machete from Robert Rodriguez, stars as a strung out neighbor who befriends the young girls until her addictions get the best of her. Multi-talented fan favorite Clint Howard (Apollo 13, The Dilemma, Evilspeak) will also appear in this twisted tale.

My Review Of “Sint/Saint”

MV5BMjA5ODgyMjA5NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjY3Mzk5Mw@@._V1._SY317_CR4,0,214,317_So as an ongoing Christmas tradition I have been adding Christmas and Holiday based horror into my routine of baking candies and cookies and gluttony as well as classic Christmas cartoons. Well last night I sat down and watched Dick Maas’ “Sint”. Here is what I thought of the film.

A fricking great story of Sinterklauss like never before! The whole celebration period around Dec. 5th tradition of having towns people dress as St. Nick and “Black Pete” a character that would never fly in American culture!.Black Pete is basically white people in black face traipsing around town creating tom foolery as they accompany Saint Nicholas.

Now here is were things get scary (Major Spoilers … ) This saint isn’t as much as a savior as he is a demonic carnivore bend on raising a bloody holy apocalypse on the poor city of Amsterdam. He is undead, cursed and out for vengeance and you better lock your fucking doors and cement in your fireplace and lurn to slow your breathing to near death rates! He will get you and your children.

I can honestly say that this story held my attention the entire time, well there was a brief moment when dear ole Nick was m.i.a in the film and it was more of a “find the bomber” type situation but very minimal amount of time. Soon the carnage began again. Oh and this slayer is very non discriminant in who he kills = Adults, teens and yes there is the splatter and screams of little children. “Sint” offers a very equal opportunity slayerific experience.

The story was common as any other holiday horror. Promiscuous youths, urban legend and set ups familiar to any horror film. This film however is in the middle of a very active and modern city of the world and has moments were it is more like a “Mission Impossible” film than a slaughter film. Very reminiscent of when Jason took Manhattan. Some go almost unnoticed by the evil saint while others seem to be dead in his sites at all cost.

This is a really good holiday film that offers more to any horror fans Christmas tradition. So if a Saint Nicholas eating and killing children and terrorizing town folk is right up your Evil Santa and Krampus parade filled affair then check this film out. However be warned your options are this – subtitled or dubbed in English. I chose the dubbed but think I would have experienced it more intensely in subtitle form.

“House Of Mirrors” 2012 Trailer

The trailer for “House OF Mirrors” doesn’t offer much to the visual aspect of the story but does tease a couple of possible views however one must not be quick to judge based on trailers and as I have often learned never judge a film by it’s trailers. Anyway this seems to try on a low budget but well thought out process the notion “Pay for your sins” as it melds two worlds that are in juxtaposed.

This supernatural thriller offers us a fresh new cast of characters and well footed supernatural fave of the genre, the found footage theme. Only with this film it is a mix of dramatics mixed with discovery footage of tragedies that befall the cast. Christian Slater is a great actor and this in no way will suck on the level that “Alone in the Dark” did oh so many years ago! It actually could do for the 21st century horror genre what “Scream” did for it in the last of the 20th century. Look for it this coming Spring and check out the trailer below….

How much does Arizona State Suck?

“Teddy” a short film by Kevin Sommerfield and Steve Goltz has been banned from the Annual Capstone Film Showcase which premieres the student films created by the Film Program in the Arts Department.
After watching this horror short I think the decision was rash and prejudice against the genre. I mean why else ban this piece. It is not torture porn, it is witty, concise, and dramatic. It does what any good short should do, make you yearn for more. I wanted to see more on Teddy’s backstory, I wanted more gory slaughter scenes, and I just want a full length feature of Teddy in all is revenge and psychotic gory glory! So “Fuck You” Arizona State- You Suck! Show the damn film and give it its just reward.
Oh and just let me just say that I went away from this short with two things- Pabst is evil and douche’s deserve to die!

My Review Of “Red Riding Hood”

imagesSo I finally got around to watching this damn movie. I had expectations on seeing it sooner but that was before they watered it down to a PG 13 rating. To me they would have done a much better film with edgier and more mature visualization of this classic tale. So I waited and THANK Godz I did!!!

I am not saying that this filmed sucked because it didn’t but quite frankly it didn’t get me going. The most exciting thing I can say about it is “the cape was pretty”. So brilliant and crimson and flowing and against the snow and dark forest (which by the way “rocked”).

Sadly though there was no real gut wrenching suspense and no hard action. The scenes were almost impotent and “so what”. I did however like the fact that it kept me guessing about the wolf. Who was it? The whole time I was thinking the mother or later the grandmother but then (oh this is all spoiler shit so don’t read it….if that type stuff bothers you.) Then to find out who the wolf was just seemed so satisfying. It was the films only saving grace. Quiet frankly I would have love to seen more sexual tension and graphic violence. After all it is a werewolf film. Those bitches are sloppy eaters, people! No they had to tone it down for the kiddies. This was basically a love story on a censored dime store wave of “why the fuck make this d*mn film if nothing real is gonna come from the experience”

I would have had better things to say about this film but I could not find much. Here is what I thought was great about the film. The actors done great jobs bringing these characters to life. The cinematography was epic and beautifully shot. The houses in the village made me actually want to go out into the deep dark forest and build a short stilted cottage to live in till the end of time. Oh and the two rival lovers of Red were both pleasing to the eye. Just to bad they didn’t show the goods. That is all I am saying!

Add A Little Yule To The Holiday Season!

BlessedYule12
Yule or Yuletide ("Yule-time") is a winter festival that was initially celebrated by the historical Germanic people as a pagan religious festival, though it was later absorbed into, and equated with, the Christian festival of Christmas. The festival was originally celebrated from late December to early January on a date determined by the lunar Germanic calendar. The festival was placed on December 25 when the Christian calendar (Julian calendar) was adopted. Scholars have connected the celebration to the Wild Hunt.
Yule is celebrated with gatherings that often involve a meal and gift giving. Further attempts at reconstruction of surviving accounts of historical celebrations are often made, a hallmark being variations of the traditional. Groups such as the Asatru Folk Assembly in the US recognize the celebration as lasting 12 days, beginning on the date of the winter solstice.

balder_dead_by_eckersberg
Ancient Yule Traditions are generally attributed to the injunction of the angels who sang at the birth of Christ, but according to a much older story the idea of peace and good-will at Yule-tide was taught centuries before Christ.
According to ancient yule traditions of the Edda, gifts from the gods and goddesses were laid on Balder's bier and he, in turn, sent gifts back from the realm of darkness into which he had fallen.
However, it probably is from the Roman Saturnalia that the ancient yule traditions of the free exchange of presents and the spirit of revelry have been derived. The Druids held the mistletoe in great reverence in their ancient yule traditions because of its mysterious birth. When the first new growth was discovered it was gathered by the white-robed priests, who cut it from the main bough with a golden sickle never used for any other purpose. The food peculiar to this season of rejoicing has retained many features of the feasting recorded among the ancient yule traditions of earlier people. The boar made his appearance in mythological circles and ancient yule traditions when one was offered as a gift to Frey, god of rain, sunshine, and the fruits of the earth.
This boar was a remarkable animal; he could run faster than a horse, through the air and over water. Darkness could not overtake him, for he was symbolical of the sun, his golden bristles typifying the sun's rays. At one time the boar was believed to be emblematical of golden grain, as he was the first to teach mankind the art of plowing. Because of this service he was most revered by our mythological ancestors. In an account of a feast given in Valhalla to the dead heroes of many battles, Saehrimnir, a sacred boar, was served. Huge pieces were apportioned to the deceased heroes and the meat had such a revivifying effect that, restored to life, according to ancient traditions, they called for arms and began to fight their battles over again.
An abundance of heavenly mead made from goats' milk and honey was provided for the feasts and on occasions ale, too, was served. Certainly Yule-tide was a very merry season among the ancient people who feasted, drank, and danced in honor of the return of the sun, the god of light and new life. When messengers went through the various countries bearing tidings of a new religion and of the birth of a Son who brought light and new life into the whole world, they endeavored to retain as many of the established ancient yule traditions as possible, but gave to the old-time festivals a finer character and significance.
As the fact of Christ's birth was not recorded and there was no certainty as to its date, the early Christian Fathers very wisely ascribed it to Yule-tide, changing the occasion from the birthday of the sun to that of the Son.  For a while the birth of Christ was celebrated on dates varying from the first to the sixth of January; on the dates of certain religious festivals such as the Jewish Passover or the Feast of Tabernacles; but the twenty-fifth of December, the birthday of the sun, was ever the favorite date. Pope Julius, who reigned from 337 to 352 A. D., after a careful investigation, considered it settled beyond doubt that Christ was born on or about the twenty-fifth of December, and by the end of the fifth century that date was very generally accepted by christians.
The transition from the old to the new significance of Yule-tide was brought about so quietly and naturally that it made no great impression on the mind of the masses, so nothing authentic can be learned of the early observance of Christmas. The holly, laurel, mistletoe, and other greens used by the Druids still served as decorations of the season, not as a shelter for fairies, as in former days, but as emblems of resurrection and of immortal hope. The glorious luminary of day, whether known as Balder, Baal, Sol, or any other of the innumerable names by which it was called by the primitive peoples, still gladdens the hearts of mortals at Yule-tide by "turning-back" as of old; only today it yields its place to a Superior Power, in whose honor Yule-tide is observed.
