Teaser Trailer Released For “Phantasm: RaVager”

On the heels of the teaser poster and confirmation of the new “Phantasm” movie comes a teaser trailer and official press release. “Phantasm: Ravager” is directed by David Hartman and brings back returning cast members Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Kat Lester, Angus Scrimm for what will surely be a much need reboot for the franchise with one of horror’s creepiest dudes. Check out the teaser and read the official word on the project below.

For Immediate Release (Hollywood, CA) - Filmmaker Don Coscarelli announced today that PHANTASM: RAVAGER, the long-awaited fifth and final entry in his classic horror Phantasm series, has completed principle photography. The original Phantasm was a worldwide critical and boxoffice smash, spawning a huge cult of fans around the world and three well received sequels.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, a new director is helming the production, one David Hartman. Hartman is a multiple Emmy-nominated animation director, whose work can be seen in such celebrated shows as Transformers Prime and Roughnecks: Starship Troopers. Serious genre fans have long been familiar with Hartman’s edgier output, including two blood-soaked music videos for Rob Zombie (“American Witch,” and “Lords of Salem”), and his illustrations of Steve Niles’ “Strange Cases” for Image Comics.

“I felt it was time to let someone else play with my train set,” noted Coscarelli, who co-wrote the film with Hartman and produced the film under his Silver Sphere banner along with Executive Producer Brad Baruh. “David and I go back to my film Bubba Ho-Tep. He did terrific visual effects on that, and more recently created a wild animated sequence and some amazing visual effects in my most recent film, John Dies at the End. Our aesthetics are in sync and he’s quite an experienced director in his own right,” Coscarelli stated.

“Having worked with Don [Coscarelli] before, and being a huge fan of the entire Phantasm franchise, it was a great honor to do RAVAGER with him,” says Hartman. “This film is a real turning point in the series. There’s real closure for the core characters that I hope fans will respond to. We were fortunate to shoot amazing new sequences with horror icon Angus Scrimm—he has terrific scenes with Reggie (Bannister) and Mike (Michael Baldwin) that are truly powerful.”

Production on RAVAGER took place in and around southern California over the past two years. “The Phantasm films have been a guerrilla operation for decades now, totally outside of the studio system,” Coscarelli notes. “We do them for the fans, and I think Ravager will definitely please them. In the past few years several studios have made offers to remake Phantasm with large budgets, but the fans were very vocal that they wanted the original cast to return and finish this iteration of the story with class. And for the first time there’s an extended sequence on the Tall Man’s home world. I know Phantasm fans will be as excited as I am to see it.”

RAVAGER features Reggie Bannister (a veteran of all five films) in his decades-long pursuit of the malevolent Tall Man, and it finally forces him to confront the mysteries at the heart of the Phantasm saga. The entire original cast is back including Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Kat Lester and Angus Scrimm, along with some great new characters. Coscarelli allows, “There are also some surprises thrown in that I promise will astonish long-time fans.”

Horror short “Hypnagogia” will be unleashed on horror fans tomorrow, March 28th, and can be viewed on Vimeo On-Demand here! Check out the trailer and read the deets below.

From Norway and Violence Productions comes “HYPNAGOGIA”, a 27 minutes long short film about a terrifying phenomenon called “sleep-paralysis”. Director Lars-Erik Lie is obviously inspired by Italian horror-masters, such as Dario Argento and Mario Bava, in this very visual and colorful film. Believe it or not, HYPNAGOGIA is actually a microbudget-film, made for only $666.

Story: Johnny is a photographer, he is also a rapist and a killer. Nadia visits him to do some modeling work, but ends up being raped and killed. Johnny suffers from hypnagogia (sleep paralysis), and a girl in white tries to kill him in his dreams. But what is reality, what is dreams… In HYPNAGOGIA, not everything is as it seems… Remember, “Galdramadr festi ther…”

HYPNAGOGIA blends the stylish Italian-style of horror film-making with the Japanese ghostgirl-stories, together with beautiful locations and gothic music, made by Eric Hyman (known from the 80`s band ANIMAL), and Norwegian composer Kaspar Marius Jota.

And we even have Runulfr Widugastir Tyrfing, a Norwegian expert on Norse culture, vikings, rune magic and old-style sorcery, making a special apperance in HYPNAGOGIA!

The visual style (photo/lights/colors) are inspired by films like Dario Argento`s SUSPIRIA and Mario Bava`s PLANET OF THE VAMPIRES. The music is heavily influenced by the music in John Carpenter`s THE THING and Lucio Fulci`s CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD. Storywise, Japanese ghostgirl-films like JU-ON and THE GRUDGE was very inspiring.

Rosemarys-Baby-TV-posterFrom The Press Release
This new adaptation of “Rosemary’s Baby” centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind.

After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse are presented with an offer they can’t refuse – an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price.

Rosemary (Zoe Saldana; Avatar, Star Trek Into Darkness) and Guy (Patrick J. As their spirited best friend, Guy’s co-worker Julie (Christina Cole), spends quality time with Rosemary in the city, she finds Rosemary’s health worrying and cautions both of them that something isn’t right. Soon there are other signs warning Rosemary to be careful.

Guy seems to be pulling away from Rosemary and spending a great deal of time hanging around with Roman Castevet (Jason Isaacs; Harry Potter franchise). Roman’s wife, the whimsical Margaux Castevet (Carole Bouquet; For Your Eyes Only), assures Rosemary her herbs and holistic medicine will help with the pregnancy, but are they helping or hurting? Rosemary’s quizzical nature leads her to investigate the building and its past residents. She uncovers a dark past and realizes who Roman Castevet truly is. But is it too late? Are the Castavets’ perceived sinister motives legitimate or all in the pregnancy brain of Rosemary?

Taste The Fear From The Deadly Delivery With “Killer Pizza”

Kai Winikka’s “Killer Pizza is set to put the horror in your late night cravings as he dares you to taste the fear from the deadly delivery. The film is set to stars Ron Jeremy who has transitioned well from adult film into indie horror comedy genre film. “Killer Pizza” which I imagine will be a cheeky fun, smart horror comedy like Rubber or the classic Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes. The crowd funding has kicked off over at Kickstarter so check it out. I like where they want to go with this flick. Throw in some massive stoneration and things will click with this film.

killer pizzaJimmy and Sam are two college graduates who return home and find themselves working at a small pizza shop that pops up out of nowhere. It doesn't take long for them to suspect that they're working for two cosmic freaks with more sinister intentions than simply delivering pie. What is happening at the Killer Pizza shop? What is behind their secret recipe?

For Killer Pizza, the biggest anticipated challenge is the implementation of the Special Effects. Far-out creature designs, insane Pizza Monster moments, and more. We will not be satisfied with camp or “B-grade” results so we welcome back this opportunity to work with the same seasoned Special Effects artist that we have used in many of our past productions. Having combed the script with our SFX artist, together we have prioritized our budget to enable us to achieve impressive visual and horror-inducing feats with out the use of CGI.  WE’RE TALKING REAL BLOOD HERE! Not really, but it will be the ‘real’ fake thing.

We are setting out to make a horror picture that will also make people laugh. This was a writing move that will most certainly set Killer Pizza apart, as its title and genre themselves tend to depict certain tropes and tone that we are consciously avoiding. Our goal is to combine the visual and suspenseful elements in a film that will capture a coming-of-age story that is both horrifying and delightful.
