What began as a simple investigation turns into a battle for survival, where torture and death appear to be the only outcome.

Mark eventually has to accept the presence of Mary's paranormal existence in order to save Michelle and himself, and try to escape. Typhoid Mary may be dead, but she's certainly not gone. She has a story of vengeance she wants told...no matter the cost.

Teaser Trailer Released For “Raw Focus”

raw focusA teaser trailer has landed for indie horror slasher “Raw Focus”. The film blends the survival nature horror with elements of classic slasher in the woods but with one unique aspect. It creates for us a new cringe worthy masked killer. His face is literally covered by a make-shift face plate with strategic shards of glass fastened to it! Ouch!! So we have the modern classic horror of a psycho family but with the extra terror of a masked maniac in “Raw Focus”. Schwing! I would hate to be a hapless victim with enough bad luck to put me in that wrong place and the wrong time!

glassmaskedkiller“Raw Focus” is directed by Bobby Jones and stars Kinsley Funari, John Chiara, Rachel Anderson, Deanna Sherman, Chanel Lewis, Kayla McDonald, Brittany Buck, Roger Conners, Jodie di Donato, Pakob Jarernpone, Alex Russo, Ana Bell, Benny Benzino. The film comes from Off the Beaten Path Films in association with Mouse Nest Productions as well as Rising Pulse Productions. Check out the teaser trailer below.

All hell breaks loose when a photographer with a flare for erotic art takes a group of stunning models out into the middle of nowhere for the ultimate photo-shoot. Unfortunately for this crew of young and aspiring talent, this happens to be the same middle of nowhere in-which a trio of psychopathic killers have selected to use as their personal killing fields.

New “Insidious Chapter 2” Featurette Explores The Theories Of Fear

insidious2I have to admit that I have been a bit indifferent toward the new “Insidious Chapter 2” film. I enjoyed the first film and I am still obsessed with learning why the demon is obsessed with fucking antique tune! “Tip Toe Through The Tulips”. Wait was Tiny Tim really a demon disguised as a human-I've read about them on Godlike….Anyway a new featurette showing fans reaction to the sequel by James Wan has been released. It doesn’t really excite me but it does make me feel confident that I will enjoy this film. About my question regarding the demon and that song I am not sure about my being rewarded with an answer on that-hell it may lead to more questions left for maybe Chapter 3!!!!!????

“Insidious Chapter 2” is directed by Wan (obviously) and stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Barbara Hershey, Lin Shaye , Ty Simpkins and Andrew Astor. The film hits theatres on Friday The 13th this September!

The haunted Lambert family seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.

First Trailer Of “RoboCop” Remake Online

robocopI have to say that based on the trailer for “Robocop” 2014 my excitement for this remake is amped up a bit more. After today I venture the interest in this cult classic sci-fi saga has increased exponentially. Check out the trailer below. “Robocop” is directed by José Padilha and stars  Joel Kinnaman, Douglas Urbanski, Abbie Cornish, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson.

After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. Crowd Funding Started For “The Dooms Chapel Horror”

doomschapelhorrorThe crowd funding has began for horror film “The Dooms Chapel Horror” post-production costs. The film is a found-footage filmed in Western Kentucky and Tennessee. “The Dooms Chapel Horror” stars Bill Oberst, Jr., Austin Madding, Abby Murphy, Shaun Gerardo, Josh Robinson, Josh Cornelius, Steve Crowley, Allan Walters, Wendy Keeling with John William Holt directing. 95% of the film is completed production over the past 6 months. Jason Taylor had this to say about the film: “It's a mix of psychological horror and creature feature. It's what children of the 70's and 80's remember waiting for at the video store and what the generation today needs to see.”  So being a child from the 70’s and 80’s I am already very intrigued by this project. Nothing like a good freaky-night-flick-creature-feature! If you like this project head over to Kickstarter and show some love.

Are You Ready For Joel Silver’s Found Footage Film “Home Invasion”

It has officially been announced that Joel Silver’s “Home Invasion” will be a found-footage film. Which kind of shows how ahead of the game “Hate Crime” really was as a horror thriller. Blending uncomfortable elements into chilling found footage films is really one of the only remaining areas the subgenre has to go before inspirational depletion. “Home Invasion” stars Bella Thorne with more cast announcements to come later. The film puts Sean Carter in the director’s chair and is currently in production.

When two deranged serial killers break into their home, a family has to stick together to make it out alive and unbeknownst to them there are hidden cameras throughout their home documenting their every move.

‘True Blood’ Meets The True Death With Season 7

True-Blood-Season-7Word officially comes out that season 7 of ‘True Blood’ will be the final season of ‘True Blood’. We have all been prepared any day for the show to end, most of us since the very first threat of cancellation all those many seasons ago. I suppose I will still mourn for the show and wear my untelevised veil of sorrow for the series much as I do ‘Buffy’ ,’Angel’, ‘The Gates’ and ‘Dollhouse’, but I am eager to see how this last season takes us out as we prepare for the show to meet it’s true death. The 10 episode season return of ‘True Blood’ will take place the summer of 2014. The word came from programming president Michael Lombardo.

"True Blood has been nothing short of a defining show for HBO," noted HBO programming head Michael Lombardo. "Alan Ball took the books by Charlaine Harris, assembled a brilliant cast led by the magnificent Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie Stackhouse, and crafted a show that has taken its many devoted fans on an unforgettable journey. Alan passed the baton to Brian Buckner, who led our fantastic writers and crew in crafting a spectacular sixth season, and he will lead us through the seventh and final season of this amazing show. Together with its legions of fans, it will be hard to say goodbye to the residents of Bon Temps, but I look forward to what promises to be a fantastic final chapter of this incredible show."

"From the moment I read Charlaine’s books, I thought there was potential for something really special," says Alan Ball. "Then our amazing writers, cast and crew brought her world to life in a way that exceeded my wildest expectations. I’m deeply grateful to HBO for being true partners and collaborators, and, of course, to the viewers who chose to spend Sunday nights in Bon Temps with us."

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, True Blood takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, vampireBill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy-winning HBO series "Six Feet Under") created the show, which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

New Images Released From Anticipated Remake “Carrie”

carrie“Carrie” is one of the most buzzed about remake thrillers more so for it’s cast than actual film itself. To see these top Hollywood actors take on such iconic anti-matrons of horror, I mean Mrs. White is anything but lovable and even though Carrie racks up sympathy points based on being bullied she does still turn homicidal and take out half the reigning student body. The remake hits theatres in October.

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Judy Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday, Youth in Revolt), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde, The Three Musketeers), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (newcomer Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

New Poster Reveals The Covenant (Sort Of)

ahscovenCheck out the new poster for FX’s ‘American Horror Story: Coven’. I get a feeling this isn’t just an average soccer mom coven but something far older and sinister. The serpent feeling the mouths is kind of telling. The great deceiver is the word of darkness and lies, maybe the original covenant between the fallen angel and dark lord from the very beginning. Man I can’t wait for this show to come on. The show reads like a night time soap sort of but AHS always takes things so dark and deep in it’s  mythos that I am sure the original covenant between fallen angel and woman will be met in this saga.

Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials, and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind, and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

International Poster For “Patrick” Revealed

On the heels of the new intimidating “Patrick” poster that was released earlier comes a new international poster. The new one is a small nod to earlier “Patrick” promo sheets that have been released for the film. We are getting closer to the movie’s premiere date and even closer to wide release (hopefully-I don’t think I can wait for ever to see this one!). “Patrick” is a remake of the original Australian cult classic film directed by Mark Hartley. It stars Sharni Vinson, Rachel Griffiths, Charles Dance, and Peta Sergeant.

After killing his mother and her lover some years before, Patrick is the comatose patient in Room 15 of a remote, private psychiatric clinic run by the secretive Dr. Roget, who treats him as guinea pig in his bizarre studies of life and death.

When Kathy, a nurse who has recently separated from her boyfriend, begins working at the clinic, she is instructed to care for Patrick. She is disturbed by Roget’s treatment of him and somehow feels that Patrick is trying to make a connection with her. When Kathy realizes that the lifeless murderer can communicate, she is shocked but compelled to prove her theory. Patrick has psychokinetic powers, which he uses to talk to Kathy by transferring his thoughts to her computer. As Patrick’s communication becomes stronger, strange and terrifying events begin to occur. Patrick has feelings for Kathy, and his affection is about to manifest itself as a deadly, bloody obsession.

Catching Up With The Thrills, Chills And Kills Of Jeremy Campbell: An Update Interview With The “Velvet Vengeance” Director

velvet vengeanceJeremy Campbell is a director that I have followed since screening the 2012 short film “Velvet Vengeance”. He has since taken that short concept and weaved it into a complex multifaceted action-horror. “Velvet Vengeance” is a modern blend of grindhouse, thriller, and neo-western styles in a new re-emerging subgenre known as action-horror.

“Velvet Vengeance” holds its premiere on October 19th at DOA Bloodbath Film Festival. So with the upcoming premiere date set, and filming almost complete on the film I decided to ask Jeremy Campbell –’where the film was at?’ It has been awhile since I interviewed him, February actually. I have been keeping up with most of the films progress but I want to see what Campbell has to say about his “baby” and his future. Here is that interview.

ASouthernLife:  Since we last talked back in February, there was a major change in lead actress; How has that changed the vision or aesthetics of the film, or did it change at all?
Jeremy Campbell:  We did go a little darker with the tone in general. The character is always evolving and as different people get a chance to play the role in future sequels I am sure they will bring their own spin on it. I am becoming more and more protective over the character and looking forward to taking her to a whole new level in the future.

ASouthernLife:  Describe what fans can expect to see with "Velvet Vengeance"? The story differs a bit from the original short film, which was focused slasher/survival horror.
Jeremy Campbell:  This movie is still very much of a survival/slasher film. Honestly maybe more than the short. The short was more of a prototype film. Now I've had the chance to really pick the best parts of that film and take it to another level. We had the help of a lot of amazing people that brought the make up effects and post production effects to another level. This means more gore and all new kills. We also had the chance to film at a historical haunted mansion called Reindeer Manor. We staged a gun fight inside the house and a hanging in the front yard. We also filmed a few scenes on a sound-stage. I think the big thing is we did not have as many limitations. The door was open for us to do more.

ASouthernLife: How far along in filming are you with "Velvet Vengeance"?
Jeremy Campbell: We have one scene left to shoot. We shoot that Saturday the 14th. That is the final scene to shoot. The idea was to add a old school Friday The 13th opening. Just a really fun horror scene with lots carnage and death. We are taking a short break now for post production. During this next week I will be finishing all of the major cuts on the scenes that are shot, submitting it to my composer for music, filming a commercial for another project and next week starts the coloring process for the film. We are running and gunning lol. The composer from the short has returned for the feature. His name is Zach Young so I'm very excited to be working with him again. Doing all of our post effects and color is one of the creators of an outstanding web series call Allegiance Of Power. That show is a good standard of the kind of talent that is going into this film.

ASouthernLife: You welcomed a new cast member recently, could you tell me what role her character plays in the film and also a bit about the actress herself?
Jeremy Campbell: Honestly I'm not sure which one you are talking about lol. The movie is almost entirely new faces to the Velvet Vengeance series but with that said we have some gorgeous women working on this film. We did recently add Hollee A McMurray to the cast. She will be playing a classic horror girl named Tuesday. Two other female cast that have been added is Laiken A Thompson. She is the star of a great web series called "Rover Hill. Last but not least is Kennedy Miller. She actually came to my attention a few years ago. She blew me away with a audition for another film I was working on but was not right for that role. Now a few years later I am getting to work with her. I do believe that this is her first movie.

ASouthernLife:  What are some of the genre styles that inspired you while filming "Velvet Vengeance". Can fan's expect to notice inspirational aspects to the theme of "Velvet Vengeance".
Jeremy Campbell: We have a lot of different styles. One thing I did notice is with this one camera that is way more active and we shot a lot of the movie from very wide lenses. Which means the movie is just way bigger looking. With the short I really leaned hard on my western and slasher film influences. With this one they are with out a doubt still there, but it's more of an original statement instead of me having to copy and paste from other peoples play books. I did make sure to sneak in my nods to "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" "The Hills Have Eyes" "John Woo" "Death Wish" and Italian westerns. Those types of films are just in my blood. Not to mention the "Friday The 13th" opening that we are shooting Saturday the 14.

ASouthernLife:  Moving away from "Velvet Vengeance" for a second, what other things are going on for you right now, or near future?
Jeremy Campbell: Right now I have a lot of things going on. I am working on a commercial for a world renowned haunted house called Moxley Manor. We are also in talks about me directing a original film based on their haunt. Other than that I am writing a new feature film. It's a story that has been with me for a while. It's the story of a veteran horror director recalling the making his first film when he was 13. It's The Sandlot for misfits. I am also talking with another group about directing a short comedy in November. They have accesses to a sound-stage and we figured why not? Last I am writing the outline for Velvet Vengeance part 2. My goal is to make a series out of this story.

ASouthernLife:  You are doing something with the Moxley Manor Haunted House, tell me a little more about that project.
Jeremy Campbell: We started talking a little while back. The idea was put a award winning horror director with a award winning haunt and see what happens. We are making a very fun commercial that will play like a trailer. If everything goes well you may see a original film from me that is centered around there haunt. Laiken A Thompson from Velvet Vengeance will be featured in the commercial along with another beautiful and talented actress Jori Gill.

ASouthernLife:  Now back to "Velvet Vengeance", October the 19th is a pretty important date! The film's premiere at DOA, tell me about that and what your feeling about that day, nervous, excited?
Jeremy Campbell: All of the above. We were preselected and given the prime time spot. The pressure is on to finish the movie in time and sell out our screening. Not to mention live up to all the hype. The coolest thing is early this year I made a list of goals. One of them was have a sold out premiere at Texas Theater. The film fest contacted me and asked if I was interested in premiering at their fest that is being held at Texas Theater. For the fans the fest will be a lot of fun. They have not released the line up yet but I've heard rumors of some really great films. With any luck maybe will be able to walk away with a few awards.

ASouthernLife:  Anything else going on after October 19th that you want to talk about, other festivals or releases?
Jeremy Campbell: Yea we are planning a extended film fest run. This movie easily has what it takes to go far. We are talking with a few company's right now for a full out release of the movie. We want to wait to see how we do with the film fest run before we release the movie to the general public but it's going great. I could not be more thankful.

ASouthernLife:  What is next after "Velvet Vengeance"?
Jeremy Campbell:  The big goal is to be a full time movie director within the next two years. I am a man on a mission when it comes to that. Other than Velvet Vengeance I am working on my new feature script and a squeal to Velvet Vengeance. We’ll see which one gets funding and goes into production first. We are all kind of waiting to see how Velvet Vengeance is received. When I think back on how that movie started as a writing exercise and has now been turned into a feature I have to smile. It all started with a teen novel I read when I was 12 years old.

“The Truck” Gears Up For Release

the truck promo[5]Riley Hollow Films has released the first trailer and official poster for the feature length road horror film “The Truck”.

When Roger and Alice take a weekend trip to explore an old campground Roger has inherited, they encounter a devilish truck that adds miles of terror. Is there anyone behind the wheel? Or is it driven by pure evil?

The Truck is written and directed by Lee Vervoort. This marks the second feature length film from the stunt man turned director. His sophomore effort follows the highly acclaimed 2009 film “Gun Town”. Vervoorts stunt man roots are highly visible on screen during the action packed chase sequences of “The Truck”, The movie features a classic Ford Fairlane 500 being chased by a menacing 4 wheel drive monster. You can’t outrun it. You can’t outdrive it. You cannot stop The Truck.

The film is full of old fashioned stunts. In a scene where Vervoort crashes through the bay door to a warehouse, the automobile only had one inch of clearance on both sides. He lost the passenger side mirror, even with them both turned in. Vervoort says of the fast and mean action sequences “I enjoyed being able to do most of the stunt driving, and coordination myself. The terror really comes across on screen, as we were doing this the old fashioned dangerous way. Fast cars, metal on metal, rubber to the road.”

The Truck features some new faces including John Michael Morris as Roger Newman, and Rachelle Christine as Alice Mason. The movie also co-stars Jenna Nichole Ruiz playing a teenage hitch hiker. It also re-teams Vervoort with members of his Gun Town cast, Tim Emery and Andy Grace. The film was shot in western Kentucky earlier this year by cinematographer Jim Dougherty. It is currently in post production, and being scored by Danny Lee Ramsey at Giant Shadow Filmworks in Nashville, TN. Ramsey also makes a special appearance in the film.

The Truck was Executive Produced by husband and wife team, Ronald Harry Dunn and Faith Diane Dunn. Vervoort shares producer credit with another husband & wife team Tim & Carole Emery of Copper Canyon Ranch L.L.C. Cameron McCasland will co-produce. Vervoort & McCasland have previously collaborated on both Gun Town and The Lashman.
The Truck roars onto the screen on November 12th 2013.

New Poster With Intimidating Stare For “Patrick”

Patrick-PosterA new poster featuring the title subject with one intimidating (and somewhat hot) stare for “Patrick”. The film is an Australian indie remake of the cult classic film. “Patrick” will be at Stiges Film Festival this October. Richard E. Grant (Dracula, Corpse Bride), Rachel Griffiths (Blow), and Sharni Vinson (You’re Next), all star in the film with Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood) onboard as director.
