Well Go USA Slashes Through North America With “Kill Your Friends”

Well Go USA Entertainment has announced the acquisition of US and Canadian distribution rights to KILL YOUR FRIENDS, starring Nicholas Hoult (MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, WARM BODIES), James Corden (“The Late Late Show”), Craig Roberts (NEIGHBORS, 22 JUMP STREET), Rosanna Arquette (PULP FICTION), Tom Riley, and Ed Skrein (“Game Of Thrones”). The movie is directed by Owen Harris and written by John Niven, based on his 2008 novel and produced by Gregor Cameron (UNIGRAM), Will Clarke (Altitude Film Entertainment) and Len Blavatnik (AI Film and Warner Music Group).

As the twentieth century breathes its very last, with Britpop at its zenith, twenty-seven-year-old A&R man Steven Stelfox (Hoult) is slashing and burning his way through London’s music industry. Blithely crisscrossing the globe in search of the next megahit—fueled by greed and inhuman quantities of drugs and alcohol—Stelfox freely indulges in an unending orgy of self-gratification. But the industry is changing fast, the hits are drying up, and the only way he’s going to salvage his sagging career is by taking the idea of “cutthroat” to murderous new levels.

The movie also boasts a blistering soundtrack from the biggest music artists of the 1990s, including Radiohead, Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Oasis, Blur, and more, some of which are from Warner Music Group’s legendary catalog.

"If you loved music in the 90s, and you liked THE PLAYER, SWIMMING WITH SHARKS, and AMERICAN PSYCHO, it still doesn’t come close to describing how savagely brilliant this movie is,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President and CEO of Well Go USA. “The way it skewers every part of the music industry is outrageous and hysterical," she said.

“And Nicholas [Hoult] is so much fun to watch,” Pfardrescher said. “His character is this mix of ruthless ambition and total panic. He’s definitely not a good guy, but you still end up cheering for him,” she said.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Well Go to bring Owen Harris' hilarious and irreverent adaptation of John Niven’s best-selling novel to North American audiences. Great talent in a film that rocks with acerbic wit and music will win audiences everywhere,” said Mike Runagall, Managing Director of Altitude Film Sales.

"We're thrilled to stand behind a film about the hurly-burly of the music business with such a strong cast, especially as Warner Music Group is part of the Access Industries family," said AI Film's Ben Giladi.  "We look forward to seeing Go USA unleash the film in the US and Canada."

The deal was negotiated between Doris Pfardrescher at Well Go USA Entertainment, UTA Independent Film Group, and Mike Runagall of Altitude Film Sales on behalf of the filmmaker.
Executive producers on the film are Aviv Giladi, Vince Holden, Andy Mayson, Mike Runagall, Steve Norris, Ivan Dunleavy, Danny Perkins, Jenny Borgars, Kate Buckley, Nicholas Hoult, Johnny Vaughan, Amanda Ghost and James Sully.  Ben Giladi is associate producer.

KILL YOUR FRIENDS will make its debut and premiere in a series of North American film festivals through the fall, with a theatrical release to follow in early 2016.
