Truth behind the movie "The Rift"

TRUTH IS THE MOST HORRIFYINGIn the creation of the movie RIFT there are elements taken from several major serial
murders, although RIFT is mostly aligned with one particularly terrifying instance:
The events that took place on July 13, 1966.

Every decade seem to have a murder that captivates the American conscious. Some were
solved through standard investigative means. …but no one was ever really able to give a motive
for why any of the murders took place.

THE TRAGIC NIGHT OF THE DEATH OF 8 STUDENTS
On that horrific night of July 13, 1966 the city of S. Chicago was forever changed. The
killer, driven by a predatory and elemental rage, held nothing back that night. With an
unnatural and unpitying brutality, this demented killer tore and shred in a way no human i
s meant to envision. The murders of these 8 young students left the other students highly
distressed and traumatized. Even seasoned reporters and journalists became ill and some
were vomiting.

Henry, wanted in 2 states for violent crimes, had fled to Chicago hoping to get a new start
and to be closer to siblings. His start was promising; maintaining a new job, controlling
his drinking and controlling his strong, predatory urges.. However, it wasn’t long before
he was overcome by his inner voices, his demons and his insatiable taste for blood and
pain.

In time, Henry slid back into his routine. He’d stay up late in to the night, to watch the
Student’s Dormitory across the streets for days on; watching each student enter and leave,
wishing to fulfill his violent sexual urges for both boys and girls alike. It was on that
night of July 13th after downing shot after shot at a local bar, that his urges had reached
their peak. With a cool and calculated vision of a tiger, he snuck into the Smith Hall
dormitory, and, for the next 4 hours he stalked and killed each of the students in the most
brutal fashions imaginable. Shrill screams and intense movements were heard throughout
the building all night, but it wasn’t until around 4am that police began to receive phone
calls.

At 4:30am that morning, Officer Kelly and Officer Neal were dispatched in response
to complaints and reports of screams in Smith Hall. On their arrival, the officers
immediately noticed Haili Green, a friend of one of the victims standing in the doorway
of Smith Hall crying and screaming. Kelly investigated further as officer Neal tended to
Haili, which seemed inconsolable and repeated “they’re all dead” over and over.

It was upon entering the first room, that officer Kelly saw Kaitlin V.’s lifeless body on
the couch. He ascertained her condition and determined her as dead.

As officer Kelly further investigated the upstairs bathroom, he found another body.
Another dead classmate. He carefully crept into the other two dorm rooms and to
his horror, found the rest of the students in such poor shape that some were beyond
recognition.

As he gazed upon the carnage, he saw that a pillow covered most of her face, but he
could still make it out. He had seen her before. A good girl. A normal girl. Her name
was Jessica, a friend of Haili. She lay on her back, hands tied behind her. Her legs were
spread for all the world to see, and, a clearly visible knife wound in her heart. Her throat
was constrained with a tight cloth, wrapped around her neck.

Cold and numb with the reality that all eight of the students were dead in a way he had
never seen, nor could even imagine in his worst nightmares, Kelly gathered the will
power to walk downstairs, where Neal was waiting. He told Neal not to go up; That
everyone was dead and there's nothing that could be done.

Kelly could not get a radio link, so he used the landline, shaking and ill, dispatched
backup and South Chicago Community Hospital, murmuring "we need help."

RIFT was inspired by such events, with facts and truths, and, with a break in the space-
time continuum, which evil transcends at will, in order to reek havoc and satisfy its
unquenchable thirst for satisfaction.
