First Poster Released For "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark"

The first promo poster has been released for "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark". The film stars Zoe Colletti, Michael Garza, Gabriel Rush, Austin Abrams, Dean Norris, Gil Bellows, Lorraine Toussaint, Austin Zajur, and Natalie Ganzhorn. It is directed by André Øvredal and due out August 9th 2019.

DREAD BEGINS PRE-PRODUCTION ON FEMINIST HORROR “LUCKY”

Dread Central Presents starts 2019 under the new moniker, DREAD, and will release its first in-house production, THE GOLEM, as a DREAD ORIGINAL this February 5^th. 

Directed by the Paz Brothers (JERUZALEM), THE GOLEM, tells the story of a vengeful Jewish woman who conjures the evil, mythological entity to strike down her enemies.

Following the release of THE GOLEM, DREAD will begin pre-production in Los Angeles on its second DREAD ORIGINAL, LUCKY, which will be directed by Natasha Kermani (IMITATION GIRL) from a script by Brea Grant (THE ARRANGEMENT, HEROES) who will also star. Patrick Ewald and Robert V. Galluzzo will produce.

In the feminist horror story of LUCKY, a suburban mother, MAY, is stalked night after night by a threatening but elusive figure.  But with few clues as evidence and no witnesses, she finds her story and her sanity questioned by the authorities. As each attack intensifies, and with no one to turn to for help, May finds herself alone and locked in an increasingly vicious battle with someone or something that may be unstoppable.  

“Lucky is a story that needs to be told now,” says Kermani.“Brea has created a world that is a nightmarish parallel to the one we live in, close enough to feel terrifying when it all starts to unravel.”

“This script is so important to me and I can’t imagine a better team than Natasha and Dread,” Grant added. “We are so excited to bring it to life. This project combines current cultural themes and my love of horror. It is the perfect time to make it and I’m so happy to have Dread on as a partner.”

Dread via its distribution parent, Epic Pictures, will continue to release films that tell horrifying stories but they also strive to raise awareness of historical, political, and/or current social issues. They are focused on changing the female/male stereotypes by putting strong women in traditional male roles. With projects like LUCKY, THE GOLEM, and the upcoming creature feature, SEA FEVER, starring Hermione Corfield (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) and Connie Nielson (WONDER WOMAN), Epic Pictures and Dread are helping to rewrite the narrative for women in genre entertainment.

The DREAD brand established itself by releasing a diverse slate of genre offerings on a monthly basis, including THE LODGERS, TO HELL AND BACK: THE KANE HODDER STORY, and DIRECTOR’S CUT from Magician Penn Jillette of Penn & Tellerfame.

On deck for 2019, the label will also unveil Stewart Sparke’s BOOK OF MONSTERS on March 19^th, BLACK SITE from British filmmaker, Tom Paton, on April 9^th, and the military zombie epic REDCON-1, directed by Chee Keong Cheung and from the Executive Producer and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES co-creator, Kevin Eastman, in May, with several more acquisition announcement on the horizon. 

Brazilian Horror "The Cannibal Club" Gets U.S. Release

Widely regarded as one of the goriest films in years, Brazilian horror hit Cannibal Club, directed by Guto Parente, premieres in North America this March via Uncork'd Entertainment.

The film hits theaters March 1^st and will be available On Demand March 5^th.

Otavio and Gilda are a very wealthy couple of the Brazilian elite who have the habit of eating their employees. Otavio owns a private security company and is a notable member of The Cannibal Club. When Gilda accidentally discovers a secret from Borges, a powerful congressman and the Club’s leader, her and her husband’s lives are in grave danger.      
       
The smartly satirical and  undeniably jaw-dropping Cannibal Club premieres in theaters and On Demand in March.

Oya is a Yoruban Orisha and Goddess who has been syncretized into Afro-Caribbean traditions.  February 2 is the Feast Day of the Orisha Goddess OYA, as well as her Saint, Candelaria. OYA is the Ruler of the Wind and Ruler of Tornadoes and She claims lightning as one of Her powers as well.  O-ya means “she tore” in Yoruba.  An elemental Goddess – Air, Fire Water – She incorporates all of them into Her.  She is the personification of the Niger River and has the power to shapeshift She is the only Orisha that has a foot in Life and a foot in Death. OYA governs the gates of cemeteries and it is there that She receives offerings from Her children who those seeking Her assistance. In all that She does, She is independent, unpredictable, fierce and beautiful.

Poster And Images Released For Horror Film "Dark Light"

A promo poster and series of first look images have been released for upcoming horror film "Dark Light". The film Padraig Reynolds, and stars Jessica Madsen, Ben Sullivan, Opal Littleton and Kristina Clifford. "Dark Light" was filmed in Georgia  (the country not the state).

A recently divorced mother returns to her childhood home. Annie loses her daughter, Emily, one night, an event that leads to her incarceration. After she escapes Annie desperately searches for her child as a creature haunts her family home. All while on the run.

"A Young Man With High Potential" Gets U.S. Summer Release

German thriller "A Young Man With High Potential" will get a summer release this year in U.S. Artsploitation Films hasn't announced the format of release, however, it will likely see Digital platforms, DVD discs and possibly a Blu-ray release this August 6th. It is directed by Linus de Paoli, and stars Adam Ild Rohweder, Paulina Galazka, Pit Bukowski.

"A Young Man With High Potential" focuses on a man who is socially awkward. Working almost exclusively from home, Piet (Adam Ild Rohweder) has lost touch with the outside world. When Klara (Paulina Galazka) becomes friendly with Piet, he instantly falls for her. Desperate and lonely, Piet will do anything to make this one-sided relationship work.

"REBORN" Drops Electrifying Trailer

In preparation for next weeks European Film Market in Berlin, Jinga Films is providing a sneak preview of the sales trailer for Julian Richards (The Last Horror Movie) new paranormal horror REBORN starring Barbara Crampton (Re-animator), Michael Pare (Philadelphia Experiment), Chaz Bono (American Horror Story), Rae Dawn Chong (Commando) Monte Markham (We Are Still Here) and introducing talented newcomer Kayleigh Gilbert.

Set in Los Angeles, REBORN is a contemporary Frankenstein story about a stillborn baby girl who is brought back to life by a morgue attendant. On her sixteenth birthday she escapes her captor and sets out to find her birth mother leaving a trail of destruction behind her.

In late February REBORN will receive its Portuguese premier at Fantasporto where it has been selected to screen in competition alongside Richards other recent horror film DADDY'S GIRL.
