September Release Announced For Supernatural Thriller "The Toy Box"

Skyline Entertainment and Steel House Productions are proud to announce the day and date release of Tom Nagel's The ToyBox, starring Denise Richards ("The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", Starship Troopers, The World is Not Enough) and Mischa Barton ("The O.C.", The Sixth Sense).  Reuniting the team behind 2016's ClownTown, Nagel's supernatural thriller follows an ill-fated family on a road trip intended to bring them back together, but the possessed RV they're traveling in may destroy them all.  

The ToyBox will open in Los Angeles at Laemmle's NoHo 7 on September 14th for a week run.  On September 18th, the film will be available nationwide on Blu-ray, DVD and Cable and Digital HD, including Amazon Instant, iTunes, iN DEMAND, DirecTV, Comcast, Optimum, Dish, Google Play and more. 

 The ToyBox stars Denise Richards, Mischa Barton, Matt Mercer (Beyond the Gates, The Mind's Eye), Jeff Denton ("NCIS", "Criminal Minds"), Brian Nagel (Katy Perry's Roar), Greg Violand (Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice) , Malika Michelle, David H. Greathouse, and Katie Keene.  The ToyBox is directed by Tom Nagel from a screenplay written by Jeff Denton. Jeff Miller (Inoperable, Ouija House) and the Nagel Brothers contributed to the story. The Nagel brothers produced along with Miller (through Millman Productions) and Denton. Jim Jacobsen, Eric Brenner, and Ronnie D. Lee are executive producers.

Jennifer (Richards) and her family go on a summer road trip in a used RV with her husband's estranged father and brother. Along the way, they find Samantha (Barton) and her brother, broken down on the side of the highway. After driving into the middle of nowhere, the RV takes on a mind of its own, crashing and stranding them in the scorching and isolated desert. Little by little, the unsuspecting group of travelers is blindsided by the terrible secrets within the walls of the RV and find themselves fighting to survive.

"Apocalypse Rising" Available Now On VOD

Fantasy-horror throwback Apocalypse Rising, starring rising movie muscle Shane Samples, is now available on VOD and DVD.

Mia is an extrasensory teenage girl living on the planet Rathe, a world besieged by the undead. After a violent last stand, Mia and her warrior friends escape their world in a spacecraft.

Shane Samples headlines a cast including Hunter Park (Anamoly) and Johanna Rae (Psychos) in a Richard Lowry film Apocalypse Rising, now on VOD and DVD from Gravitas Ventures and Giant Meteor Films.

 Synopsis: The residents of the colonial town of Marseilles are under the thumb of police oppression and only the young rebels known as the Five Fingers are willing to stand up to them. Their battle is just, until Tau kills two policemen and flees the scene. The remaining rebels disband while the banished Tau resorts to a life of crime.  Twenty years later, now known as feared outlaw The Lion of Marseilles, he is released from prison. He returns home, desiring only peace and to reconnect with those he left behind. The battle for South Africa’s freedom has been won, and former comrades-in-arms are in prominent positions as mayor, police chief, and pastor. But it quickly becomes clear to Tau that Marseilles is caught in the grip of a vicious new threat — and he must reconstitute the Five Fingers to fight frontier justice. Standing against former allies and new enemies, the re-formed Five Fingers saddle up and ride out, and put their lives at risk to save their beloved Marseille.

My Review Of "Bleed"

"Bleed" is directed by Tripp Rhame. It stars Chesley Crisp, Michael Stegar, Riley Smith, Lyndon Smith, Brittany Ishibashi and Elimu Nelson. The story is a visceral horror and psychological thriller told with elements of paranormal scares and cult killers mayhem.

It seemed perfect - a new house, a new marriage, a child soon to be born. But when Sarah and Matt invite their friends to celebrate, the situation turns deadly as they enter a burned-out prison on a ghost hunt.

The story that Rhame tells is a crisp, modern horror tale that stays pretty close to classic horror story ideas. There is the "newcomers to rural America fear", a paranormal element that teases to the horrors to come, and an "abnormal" community of crazy cult people. 

The characters are contemporary hipster-esque, well developed, and believable enough to be interesting. However they are not all too original, and the direction the story takes them in is slightly off-kilter. Some choices the characters make didn't quite make sense. Still they are far from the standard two-dimensional clichés normally associated with traditional horror movies. 

"Bleed" has a tight, suspenseful energy that starts slow, and like the characters destiny, rolls into a tense, and bloody nightmare. The cinematography is great and stylized in a manner that offers a claustrophobic quality to the already dark nature of the story. The effects are a blend of well done typical CGI paranormal tricks and practical gory effects that offer blunt, visceral moments of carnage. "Bleed" is a B-level movie that creates an atmospheric, thrilling nightmare worth watching. (3.5/5) 

Poster And Trailer Released For "Lost Child"

A poster (seen above) and trailer have been released for upcoming thriller "Lost Child". The film is directed by Ramaa Mosley and stars Leven Rambin, Jim Parrack, John Taylor Smith, and Landon Edwards. It is due out September 14th with limited theatrical release. "Lost Child" has a VOD /DVD date set for September 18th.

LOST CHILD follows an army veteran, Fern, who returns home in order to look for her brother, only to discover an abandoned boy lurking in the woods behind her childhood home. After taking in the boy, she searches for clues to his identity, and discovers the local folklore about a malevolent, life-draining spirit that comes in the form of a child; the Tatterdemalion.

First Look At Soska Sister's Remake "Rabid"

The first image has been released for the Soska Sister's upcoming horror remake "Rabid". Following a set up influenced by David Cronenberg's film, it stars Laura  Vandervoort as the lead. She revealed her character in a still shot from her Twitter.

A November Release Date Has Been Announced For "Welcome Home"

The Movie Partnership has announced the release date for psychological thriller "Welcome Home". The film, directed by George Ratliff, will be released VOD November 12th. It stars Aaron Paul, Emily Ratajkowski and Riccardo Scamarcio.

Desperate to reignite the spark in their once passionate relationship, Bryan (Aaron Paul) and Cassie (Emily Ratajkowski) rent a secluded villa in the Italian countryside. However, their romantic weekend is immediately threatened when Cassie befriends a handsome local stranger, Federico, filling Bryan with jealousy. As Federico gets closer to Cassie, he begins to take advantage of the young couple’s growing mistrust, turning them against each other. Soon Bryan and Cassie find themselves caught in a deadly and voyeuristic game of cat and mouse, discovering that the person you love the most may be the person you can trust the least.
