First Images Released For Andy Stapp's Directorial Debut "Marfa"

The first images have been released for Andy Stapp's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Marfa". The directorial debut stars Tony Todd, Stelio Savante, Tracy Perez, Richard Riehle, Neil Sandilands, Brittany Jo Alvarado, Kyle Colton, Marcus Jahn, Kimberley Christann Pember, Lisa Roumain, Scot Scurlock, and Sasha Thurston. 

The film follows four lifelong friends who decide to veer off the beaten path and venture into a small west Texas town known as Marfa.

Screenbound Acquires "The Curse Of Hobbes House" For International Sales

Screenbound has acquired international sales rights for UK zombie thriller "The Curse Of Hobbes House". The film is directed by directed by Juliane Block and stars Mhairi Calvey, Makenna Guyler, Kevin Leslie, Jo Price, Waleed Elgadi and Emma Spurgin Hussey. There is no release date announced but check out the trailer below. 

When down-on-her-luck Jane Dormant (Mhairi Calvey) learns about the death of her Grandmother, she travels to a remote estate to attend the reading of the will. She’s expecting a life-saving inheritance, but the trouble is, so is Jennifer (Makenna Guyler), her estranged and more successful half-sister, who has arrived with her lover Nigel Thatcher (Kevin Leslie) in tow. But when a storm cuts the estate off from the outside world, the brewing family tensions have to be put to one side when a horde of blood-thirsty zombies invade. Official Trailer Released For "Witches In The Woods"

The official trailer has been released for upcoming horror "Witches In The Woods". The Canadian thriller is directed by Jordan Barker and stars Hannah Kasulka, Alexander De Jordy, Corbin Bleu, Humberly González and Craig Arnold. No release date yet.

Jill, a tenacious UMass freshman, abandons her studies for an off-the-grid snowboarding trip. But after the sun has dipped below the horizon, their SUV mysteriously becomes lost in the freshly-logged mountains, eventually running out of gas. Jeb’s cartoon is on the verge of cancellation, so the studio sends him and an eclectic team of writers to a secluded house in the mountains. As Jeb’s controlling personality and obsessive work ethic starts to push the team apart, he goes even further by planting spy cameras in places shared and private, obsessed on what everone is doing. Jeb is soon fired by the studio but he continues to spy in sercret from his home leading him further down the road to madness. In his most desperate hour, Jeb seals his fate as a viscous madman by returning to the house and murdering his writers one-by-one, on camera. Past emotions and tensions flare, and while nothing goes as Jeb planned, the unforeseen twists, turns, and revelations make his snuff film a violent spectacle sure to go down in infamy.

Pagan Festival Shout Out: Tanabata

On the seventh day of the seventh month, two mythical lovers—represented by the stars Altair and Vega—find a way to come together once a year, against all odds. Today’s Doodle celebrates Tanabata, also known in Japan as the “Star Festival.”

Inspired by the Chinese Qixi Festival, Tanabata became popular in Japan during the Heian Period (794–1185). The story of Hikoboshi, a humble cowherd who falls in love with Orihime, the daughter of the Sky King, has captured the imagination of lovers for centuries. Their separation by a mighty river, represented by the Milky Way, and eventual reunion is a timeless tale.

Writing their wishes on colorful strips of paper known as tanzaku, Tanabata celebrants hang them on bamboo poles or trees and pray that their dreams will come true. The wishes are set afloat the following day, drifting on rivers toward the sea.
