Terror Seen Through A Hole In The Wall
“Hole In The Wall” is a horror anthology from Indie Production company Rabid Child Films/ShaLenn Productions LLC, who have brought together some killer talent to direct a nightmarish collection of tales. Offering there chilling visions to the collection are Derrick Carey, Cory J Udler, Eric Arsnow, Jon Hanusa, Rob Michels/Screaming like Banshees. That is the talented directors attached so far for the anthology. There is a possibility that Adam Ahlbrandt could be offering up a devilish slice of terror, nothing has been confirmed-yet.
The collection of horror shorts so far are: “Ed Gein D.D.S.”, “The Plainfield Chopper”, “Zombie A Go Go”, “Our Song Is My Blade”, “Last Dance” and “Madtown Maniac”. So far starring in the anthology are : Greg Johnson (Incest Death Squad series), Draven Wagner, Matt Kenyon, Greg Johnson (IDS, MEDIATRIX), Tom Running (IDS), Heather Dorff (Some May Say) and Tom Lodewyck (IDS, Panzram, Disciples). I have to say that the information here came from the Film’s Facebook Page, but most of the details came from Horror Society who, next to the individual artists who have sought me out, have directed by love and passion for horror away from the big over produced Hollywood horror and redirected my love for this genre onto the Indie Horror community. I couldn’t imagine a Horror reality without the homegrown, independent, organic artists who I feel are the heart and blood of Horror.

An Excerpt From Demon In The Mist
Demon In The Mist is the novel that I spent a year and a half writing. It has sat unedited until now. I am in the process of final editing of the manuscript to be self published. The story is one of horror. It is a story of revenge attempted with the use of black magic-only to end with death. That act sets a curse upon the small mountain community of Whitesburg, KY. Now years later a small group of citizens will band together to fight for their very lives and souls in the place they call home.
There is a demon that lurks within the heavy mountain mist, it is a soulless cruel thing that seeks only to feed upon the sanctity of life. Karen Ison will face that demon, and discover her true purpose in life. She will venture on a mystical journey along with a small band of townsfolk and a mysterious man named Caanan Tallmore.
Here is an excerpt from Chapter 1.

Karen Ison will face that demon, and discover her true purpose in life. She will venture on a mystical journey along with a small band of townsfolk and a mysterious man named Caanan Tallmore.
Here is an excerpt from Chapter 1.
-- Winston
brought forth the silver dagger and with one great thrash he released
blood from his palm, cutting the first two fingers of his left hand,
downward into his palm. He threw the gathering pool of crimson liquid
that began to gather in the palm of his hand into the fire. He handed
the dagger to Jessica and she did the same. Soon they all performed
this ceremonial offering of themselves to the dark spirit which
called this place home. Tonya went to a large stone they had
designated an alter, and filled a small dish with myrrh, sandlewood
and white willow bark. She took the flame from the black candle
perched on the alter, and let the fire heat the incense. As the aroma
rose and began to fill the cave with its strong fragrance they began
to chant again.
Suddenly
they felt the cold wind enter the cave, and fill it as if the air
itself had become as thick as oil, and pressed against them with a
heavy weight. The flames from the fire began to spin and slowly dim,
until it was no more. There, as they chanted in the darkness, a small
glow of moonlight penetrated the opening of the cave, and washed over
them with a faint shimmer. A smoke began to fill the space where the
fire had been, but not a smoke from the pit itself. This was a cold
wet smoke, a mist that had drifted into the cave from the hills
surrounding them. As it thickened, and almost seemed to dance,
Christopher thought he could make out a form within the mist. He
looked over toward Marimus with excitement and noticed that Marimus
was fixated on the mist as well. He looked over toward the rest of
the group, and saw that every eye was mesmerized by the gathering of
a form within this mist. They chanted louder and flung droplets of
blood from their hands that still flowed into the pit, and onto the
creature that had now almost fully formed in front of them.
It
seemed to slither about the confines of the fire pit, as if fighting
to be freed from chains. Suddenly a cold liquid fell upon
Christopher's face. Christopher felt the fluid as it rain down his
cheek. “What is this he thought-is it raining in here?”
He knew that to be impossible as the soft glow of the dim moonlight
gleamed through the opening of the cavern, he saw that the liquid was
indeed blood. He looked around at his friends, and suddenly realized
that someone was missing! No one seemed to be aware of anything
around them other than the massive, and dark figure hovering above
them where the fire once blazed. They were captivated and almost
hypnotized by the presence of what they had conjured.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonya
had managed to stay calm as the creature took form before her very
eyes. After all this was what they had set out to do. Now hovering
above them in almost solid form stood the most terrifying, and
amazing thing she had ever imagined possible. The demon had heard
their cries and came to them. Now if she could only not loose it so
that they could bind the creature to their will.
She
looked over at Jessica to see if she was seeing this in all its
glory, and also to make sure that her girlfriend of four years was
alright. She was-and Tonya knew that. Jessica was a strong character,
that made her feel secure and empowered, and there she now stood to
Tonya's left, as sure and confident as ever staring back at the beast
taking form before them now. Tonya reached into here pocket to pull
out the silver medallion that she had soaked for six days and nights
in the mixture of blood, and tears of her, and her friends. It had
been charmed by the most powerful witch she knew of, who was right
there with them on this glorious night. No other witch in Kentucky,
or Virginia, had ever shown Tonya the power and capability that Carol
Ison had shown. Tonya raised the medallion above hear head and
presented it before the demon. She called it by the name given it by
the Cherokee people. “Kalona Ayeliski we command thee!”
she shouted out into the dark night. The others were about to begin
the chant when the creature turned toward Tonya. and with no effort
leaned into hear small frame with a dark and evil gaze. It looked at
the small silver thing in her hand, that now seemed so weak and
simple and naive. The demon raised back up and with one swipe a
steel-like claws found her flesh, and tore it apart. She tried to
make a cry-or scream-or say something to Jessica, or the others but
the hot liquid began filling her throat. She felt weak as she stared
up at the demon that seemed to have already forgot she was there. She
felt her legs giving way, as did the thoughts of her life. She could
feel herself slowly drift away into nothing, and slowly the pain
enveloped her no longer.

Depressions Of The Soul By Rickey Russell
Being someone who suffers from Schizoid Type A Dissociative Disorder, and constantly finding myself walking through both the dark, and the light of life is where the "Depression Of The Soul" collection came from. It was a dark period that seemed to last for a decade, filled with moments of chaos, and emotional disparity. The only thing that helped me fight to gain control of my self was the connection, and passion I had for horror and sci-fi stories, (I know that seems counterproductive to mental well being for someone with mental disorder but that is the truth of it). That, and writing down the feelings and images that seemed to plague my mind ,is how I coped with that time in my life.
"Depressions Of The Soul" is a collection of dark poetry that explores emotion in chaos, nightmare and the Apocalypse.
It is available at Lulu.com and Createspace. *(The lulu book cover is my design and the createspace is an alternative design.)

Lucas, Juli Piechovski, Catherine Trail-“Quite A Conundrum” is really a must see Indie flick. Check out the trailer that has dropped for the film below.
Sex, Drums, Tequila, Social Networking, A Pirate, Morning After Pills, Jesus And A Gun…It’s One Hot Mess! It's Hilarious, Dark, Sexy, Twisted, and Sadistic. It's Quite A Conundrum.
It should have been just a normal day of sex, fun, alcohol, hormones and debauchery for Tabitha and Mimi, two twenty something’s who care about nothing but themselves and what chaos they can cause.
But that so-called normalcy gets tossed out the window when an unexpected and devastating event occurs at a nighttime pool party. As the alcohol begins to wear off and the body count rises, all hell breaks loose and there is no going back.
If the foul mouths, perverted attitudes and devious natures of Tabitha and Mimi were not enough to get you going, then just throw in Tabitha's walking porno of a boyfriend Sean and his new best friend, the sweet Dutch. Oh yeah, then mix in Mimi's eighteen year old virginal, confused and prudish sister Kylene and her boner prone, sexually challenged boyfriend Harris, and the events gets even saucier.
If that's not spicy enough for your tongue, then shoot in a splash of the old pervert Marc and his crazy unhinged wife Lola, and then toss in the Bible belt thumping Jesus Freak Thelma, and it gets a little more than crazy, dangerous, insane and scary, in fact it's chaotic debauchery personified.
You'll want to avert your eyes and ears away at every possible turn, but that sadistic, dark and devious part, way down, deep inside of you, will not allow you to look away.

This movies somehow makes all those countless hours watching Japanese sci-fi shows and b-movies as a kid so worth it! “Pacific Rim” hits theatres on July 12th-thankfully forgoing the hokey “Fourth of July” release that has come back to bite other sci-fi films in the ass.

But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Provoking A Maternal Phenomenon: My Interview With Camille Farnan
A mother’s instinct to protect her children, at all cost, can be a powerful source of strength. In the supernatural thriller “Provoked” Camille Farnan must do just that, by all measure it is a situation that presents extraordinary events, under which the character “Liz’ must display this maternal phenomenon-known as Mother’s Love. In the film Farnan’s family is under attack by displaced spiritual energy that means to destroy them. Camille Farnan is a mother herself, so finding the drive to portray such a character is not far from her reach, although the circumstances do seem beyond the normal hazards mother’s normally endure. However, keeping their children safe does, at times, seem to create an almost supernatural means to do just that.
Camille Farnan knew she wanted to be an actress from an early age. In middle school she fondly remembers that she had “a very enthusiastic drama teacher who made me realize that acting could be fun and she encouraged me to continue to act. I did continue to study film and theatre at the University of a Southern California and tried my luck with acting for many years in LA. “ Currently residing in Franklin, Massachusetts Farnan is a mother of four, and can relate to the peril’s her character “Liz” must face as a mother, who desires to keep her children safe-all be it maybe not in such extreme realities as the ones her character faces in the film. Still connecting to the plight of “Liz” and a strong fascination with the paranormal is what drew her to the role. I had the pleasure of asking Camille Farnan some questions about her character and her life in general, as well as things of a “ghost-y” nature.
*(It needs to be noted that not knowing which cast members actually filmed in the Borden house, I asked the questions pertaining to the famous location across the board. I had anticipated omitting those from the cast member articles that did not film there but the responses I received warrant inclusion in the article. They were answers that showed a personal connection the held toward the location and legend that somehow managed to flow with the interview, so I left them in.)
ASouthernLife:
In "Provoked" you play Liz, the mother of the young girl who is haunted. Tell me a little bit more about your character. Is it the whole family that is experiencing paranormal activity?
Camille Farnan: Hello and thank you for this interview. Yes, my daughter in the film is haunted. I play a single mother who has been experiencing paranormal activity in my home. I am at my wits end as no one has helped me after several attempts reaching out to clergy and others to come to our house to help me get rid of this paranormal activity. I finally reach out to a team of investigators who agree to come to our home. The whole family has experienced this activity, especially my daughter. My son has witnessed some activity but for some reason my daughter seems to be haunted the most.
ASouthernLife: What in the mother's character connected with you most and how did you prepare for the role?
Camille Farnan: I connected to Liz in many ways. The most obvious is that I am a mother of four children so I could certainly relate to the maternal instinct that Liz had to protect her two children. I also connected to her feeling of being overwhelmed at the situation. Although I have not experienced paranormal activity, I have certainly felt being overwhelmed at times being a mother of four and feeling the need for help and being at my wits end at times.
ASouthernLife: What do you see being the biggest challenge your character faces in the movie?
Camille Farnan: The biggest challenge for me in the film was staying true to Liz as I portrayed a woman being haunted by a ghost. I wanted to be real in the moment and feel the ghost present in the home in several scenes and I had to make that look believable.
ASouthernLife: How has the experience been filming inside the Lizzie Borden house?
Camille Farnan: I did not have any scenes filmed in the Lizzie Borden house but I did go visit the set one of the days that they were filming there. It was an awesome experience to be in that house at night. I took a tour of the home with another cast member. We couldn't get any of the lights to work upstairs so when we were about to enter Lizzie's parents room, I was reluctant to walk in. I did and there was a photograph of Lizzie's mother, dead on the floor sitting on the dresser. As I looked at the photograph I realized that I was standing on the very spot where Lizzie's mother was 'axed' to death on the floor. That was a very creepy feeling!
ASouthernLife: Have you experienced anything unusual or paranormal?
Camille Farnan: No I really cannot say that I have but I have friends who have experienced some unusual things.
ASouthernLife: Before coming to this project were you interested in paranormal research or is it something you are learning filming "Provoked"?
Camille Farnan: I was interested in researching paranormal activity but never acted upon it, that is what drew me to this project.
ASouthernLife: Has working on this movie changed your opinion toward ghosts?
Camille Farnan: I believe in them as I did before.
ASouthernLife: Would you ever consider using a Ouija board or having a séance to communicate with the spirits?
Camille Farnan: I would be open to the idea if I could use one with people who have used them before.
ASouthernLife: Who in the cast do you think would be most scared by an encounter with a spirit?
Camille Farnan: Probably my son in the film played by Charlie Tacker.
ASouthernLife: What is the scariest ghost story that you have ever heard?
Camille Farnan: The ones we made up around the campfire as kids, late at night.
ASouthernLife: What are some of your favorite horror movies?
Camille Farnan: The Shining, The Exorcist, Carrie, The Others.

Major Star Change In “Velvet Vengeance”
In a major turn of events it seems that there has been a recasting of actresses for the star role of “Alice Kersey”. “Alice” is the heroine in the feature adaptation of the short film “Velvet Vengeance” directed by Jeremy Campbell. It went on to when acclaim and awards on the festival circuit. The role was originally portrayed by Andee Martin, you may remember reading my interview with the young strong female actress. Now stepping into the role is the very capable and stunning actress Lindsay Norman who will take on the role of “Alice”.
The story of “Velvet Vengeance” follows a young woman who is faced with the tragic murder of her brother. The police swear that the murderer is dead but Alice can not shake the feeling that the killer is still alive. Against her friends and family's best wishes she travels to the location of her brothers murder to hunt the killer but little does she know that she is the one that is being hunted.
In a recent Facebook post detailing the change in leads Jeremy had this to say," “Due to personal and private reasons Andee Martin will not be reprising her role as Alice in the feature version of "Velvet Vengeance". Her departure from the film was a mutual understanding and was on good terms.”
In regards to Lindsay Norman taking over the role Campbell went on to state this about the stunning actress, “Please welcome Lindsay Norman to the cast of "Velvet Vengeance." Lindsay was our first and honestly only choice to fill the role. She is a very talented actress with lots of experience, she has a physical background that works for the action aspect of the film…”
As far as the production schedule and any issue’s this causes for the film Campbell stated, “Things are still on track with "Velvet Vengeance" and only getting better. We will be premiering August 30th as apart of "San Antonio Horrific Film Fest" and screening in Dallas this October as a part of "DOA Blood Bath Film Fest."
Stay tuned for more details and progress on the production status of “Velvet Vengeance”. My best wishes go to Jeremy Campbell and the cast/crew of the film which will meld genres by blending together elements of action and slasher with martial arts/fighting for a truly unique and horrific experience. Also I am working on an interview with Lindsay Norman for future article so stay tuned!

Trailer Released For “Kingdom Come”
Check out the sales trailer for dark thriller “Kingdom Come”. The film is directed by Greg A. Sager and stars Katie Uhlmann, Ryan Bartlett, Camille Hollett-French, Kirsten Comerford. Pre-production began on the supernatural horror film in March, 2013 with the sales trailer send to Cannes for worldwide markets. Here is my take away from the trailer - “Kingdom Come” plays upon that notion of what the soul endures and the fears faced, trails overcome that everyone must go through, only it is set in a very horror drawn nightmare situation. Watch the trailer below and see if you get the same concept.
A group of strangers awake, trapped inside an old abandoned mental hospital. With no apparent way out and no one being able to remember how they even got there they begin searching for a way to escape. As they explore the cold, dark maze of corridors they realize they are not alone and that they are being stalked by supernatural forces with sinister intentions.
For Sam (Ry Barrett) and Jessica (Camille Hollett-French) keeping Celia, (Ellie O’Brien) the youngest member safe proves to be just as difficult as keeping the group together as hostilities grow between them. Everyone begins to question each others motives as secrets linking their pasts are revealed and that someone within the group is not who they say they are. One by one they begin to disappear, all that is left behind to be found by the others is the devastation and carnage of their demise.
As everything and everyone unravels they start to understand that all the windows that have been boarded up from the inside is not so much to keep them in, but keep whatever evil lurks outside… out. In this place nothing is as it seems and the decisions they make here will seal their fate forever.
