"Cobra: The Space Pirate" Movie News and Image!

Thanks to ComingSoon site for the tease of upcoming sci-fi film by Alex Aja called "Cobra: The Space Pirate. The promo one-sheet was featured on the international front page of Variety. The French filmmaker behind Piranha 3D, The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension talked of his intentions about bringing Cobra to the big screen last summer after he acquired the rights for the Japanese manga from Buichi Terasawa.

The film follows the eponymous rogue space pirate, a man who has surgically altered his face and erases his own memory to hide from his enemies. Cobra gradually regains his memories and unites with his old partner Lady Armaroid and his ship Tortuga. Together, the two set off on an adventure to recover a lost treasure on Mars.

Another Promo for "Frankenstein's Army" Coming Soon!

Monday at 12pm EST Twitch will premiere the second promo reel for Richard Raaphorst's Frankenstein's Army - the debut feature from the Dutch director behind the stunning Worst Case Scenario Nazi-zombie project of a few years back. Finally after some project backing hurdles to overcome Raaphorst's vision gained assistance from MPI/Dark Sky Films and Amsterdam's Pellicola along with L.A's XYZ Films "Frankenstein's Army" is soon to be invading movie goers hearts and minds soon!

Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein's work to assemble an army of supersoldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades - a desperate Hitler's last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.

Red Band Clip From "Stake Land"

"Stake Land" has had one impressive media buzz ever since it began the festival circuit last fall. The film brings to light a real divisional line that is drawn in the social and cultural sandbox of American times but in a vastly gruesome and horrific metaphorical way. Rural grass roots militia banding together to fight back unspeakable and ever spreading evils against their way of life can be echoed on any street in any town or city throughout America today. This movie is awesome and very in tune and un-apologetic in its innuendos about social divides tearing the U.S. apart these days. This film however laden with socio-political subtext is a great earthy and gore-iffic horror ride into the world of blood thirsty creatures hellbent on multiplying and feeding and only time will tell which side will reign victorious. See this film!
Now with all that rambling quip taken care of here is a clip that Movieweb has that kicks ass, literally, in a garage. Man against Monster!

Joss Whedon's "Cabin in the Woods" Finds Home

The long-delayed horror film "The Cabin in the Woods", scripted by Joss Whedon and starring Thor's Chris Hemsworth, has new home at Lionsgate.

Deadline reports that MGM has relinquished the film, directed by Drew Goddard, and Lionsgate has snapped it up for distribution. MGM's painfully drawn-out financial woes caused the movie to be shelved for nearly two years.

Lionsgate hasn't given an exact a release day for "Cabin in the Woods", but Deadline reports that the film may see an October date.

"The Bloodfest Club" Short Film releases trailer!

The directorial debut of Oscar Madrid, who also co-writes with his star Jim Ousley, The Bloodfest Club is a new horror comedy short. This is one short that I hope soon will become a full length film. Horror-comedy has become a favorite of the sub genres for me. My first love always is the slice and dice killers like Jason, Michael and Freddy. Lately there have been several horror comedies to come along that have really showed that the genre is one that feeds not only on fears and gore but gives good gut busting laughter. So here is a new short that promises the same as "Ah Zombie" and "Aye Dead On" as well as "Piranha 3D" and "Zombieland".

In The Bloodfest Club a Chuck Norris-obsessed high school janitor is forced to confront the face of evil on graduation night. The Bloodfest Club is the directorial debut of Oscar Madrid and stars Jim Ousley as addled-but-good-hearted janitor Sonny Kane. The film also stars Madison Burke as Marissa, Carson Kelley as Chris, Eddie Perino as Tango, Caroline Rouse as Tiff, and Peter Mayer as Sensei Noddy.

Production Diary From "The Tunnel Movie"

Facebook Page!

In 2007 the NSW government suddenly scrapped a plan to utilise the water in the disused underground train tunnels beneath Sydney.

In 2008, chasing rumours of a government coverup and urban legends surrounding the sudden backflip, investigative journalist Natasha Warner led a crew of four into the underground labyrinth.

They went down into the tunnels looking for a story – until the story found them.

This is the film of their harrowing ordeal. With unprecedented access to the recently declassified tapes they shot in the claustrophobic subway tunnels, as well as a series of candid interviews with the survivors, we come face to face with the terrifying truth.

This never before seen footage takes us deep inside the tunnels bringing the darkness to life and capturing the raw fear that threatens to tear the crew apart, leaving each one of them fighting for their lives.

The 135k Project.
-----------------------
The Internet was meant to be a tool to connect us. It was meant to break down borders and liberate. Now we have an entire generation who are being labelled criminals for using that tool. But perhaps rather than wasting millions of dollars fighting a losing battle against internet piracy, we should try and find a way to embrace the possibilities that this new world brings…

That’s the thought that inspired this project. We believe that if we stop fighting the peer to peer networks, they could become the biggest revolution we have ever seen in the way we share entertainment and information.

After spending years being frustrated by what we saw as the movie industry’s short-sighted and conventional outlook towards the online community, we decided it was time to try something different – The 135K Project was born.

We figured that movie posters and collectable frames from movies are being sold every day, so what if we could raise the money to make “The Tunnel” by selling every individual frame of it? We would be able to make a movie unencumbered by a studio’s need for box office. We could do what we got into the industry to do in the first place. Tell stories we like and get them out there so people could enjoy them.

What’s the key to doing that? You.

If you like the look of “The Tunnel” or the idea behind The 135K Project - buy a frame or two, blog about it, follow us on twitter, seed and embed the finished film when it’s released. Whatever you can do. It will all help and show the world there might just be another way. Who knows where that might lead

New Movie Banner For "Green Lantern"

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax…he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.
Directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Peter Sarsgaard, Tim Robbins and Angela Bassett, Green Lantern is scheduled to hit 2D and 3D theaters June 17th, 2011.

“Predator” Executive Producer Takes On “Hallow Pointe”

Laurence Pereira joins HP producing team as movie gets new approach, new cast

LOS ANGELES:  “Hallow Pointe,” the highly anticipated horror/thriller in development with Bobby Ray Akers Jr.’s Dead of Night Films & award winning filmmaker Thomas J. Churchill’s (“Emerging Past”) Church Hill Productions, is taking a fresh new approach to the creature feature genre.  Churchill & Akers are bringing a new style and feel to their definitive werewolf film.  Churchill’s partnership with “Predator’s” executive producer Laurence Pereira on another project, led to his addition to the production team and sparked the first step in this new direction.  Innovative script changes and new casting additions are making this film one to watch.  Ashley C. Williams (“The Human Centipede”), Tony Todd (“Candyman,” voice of The Fallen in “Transformers”), Allison Kyler (“Prom Night,” “TBK: The Toolbox Murders 2”), Stacey Dixon (“Hell House”) and Brad Loree (“Halloween Resurrection,” “Mr. Hush”) are joining an already impressive horror cast, with more big names in the works.   Grammy-nominated writer/producer Jeeve (“Be Cool,” “Cold Creek Manor,” “Untraceable”) is bringing a great vision and talent to the score for the film and artist Dennis Willman has done an amazing job giving the poster a whole new look, which debuts today for the first time (attached; hi-res available upon request).

“Hallow Pointe” is a chilling story about love, life and what lengths you go through to try and save someone; all told within the classic horror staple, a creature feature.  The film is centered around Madeline's Closet, a quaint bed and breakfast hidden away from the world on a forgotten dirt road in the woods. Henry and Jane are hoping a weekend there will help rekindle their love for each other. Staying there, along with a few other guests, everything seems to be going as planned...until the sun sets and the full moon lights up the sky. Instead of trying to save their marriage they must now work together to try and save their lives.

The filmmakers’ vision for the film is to bring back the feel of old school 80's horror giving fans something movies today are lacking – great creature development with hard core visual FX.  Like two of the great werewolf films “The Howling” and “An American Werewolf in London,” “Hallow Pointe” is an “R” rated werewolf film with adult sensibilities played straight with a little humor to break up the drama and horror.  Akers is “really excited with how the film is evolving. The new direction, new look and changes are more in tune with what audiences want to see. With a visionary filmmaker such as Churchill, we’ll all be in for one amazing adrenaline rush.”

The cast currently includes a list of genre-favorites, including: Leslie Easterbrook (“The Devil’s Rejects,” “Police Academy”), Kane Hodder (“Hatchet 1 & 2,” “Friday 13th Parts 7 -10”), Tiffany Shepis (“Abominable”), Cody Matthew Blymire (“1313: Nightmare Mansion”), Belinda Balaski (“The Howling,” “Gremlins”), Eileen Dietz (“The Exorcist”),  Sarah French (“Shriek of Sasquatch”), Steve Barton (“Hatchet 2,” “George A. Romero’s  Survival of the Dead”) and Lar Park Lincoln (“Friday the 13th Part 7”).  Hot new horror author Joe Knetter penned the screenplay and Spectra Records promises a soundtrack album full of alternative rock favorites sure to please movie and music enthusiasts alike.  Marla Stoker, of Marquee Media and Marketing, is handling publicity for this production.

Production is set for 2011 in Pennsylvania with an anticipated 2012 theatrical release.  Churchill is “raising the bar to make an epic werewolf film like you have never seen before with an all-star cast from horror and mainstream films.  Pure carnage!”

"The Avengers" Script Hijacked and Auctioned?!

From The Daily Blam...
Just as word goes out that production has begun on the next big Marvel Hit "The Avengers" it seems that another story is taking a bite of that sci-fi news bite. Apparently the shooting notes laden script was stolen and up for sale.

It seems that some dark "source" has gotten his/her hands on a script with the production title Group Hug, the pseudonym for the movie version of Marvel's most prominent superhero team and is attempting a bidding war with several entertainment sites for it's exclusivity.

The supposed shooting draft dated 08/04/2011 is said to be at 129 pages in length with the Marvel Studio letterhead and a watermark bearing the name of the actor for whom the script was meant (in this case, one Samuel L. Jackson.). Photographic evidence was provided to ensure authenticity, though it should be noted that no official source has confirmed it's validity

This note was attached:
"I have one hard copy that I am looking to sell and I will not be making any copies, therefore exclusivity is guaranteed.
Considering that the release of The Avengers is over a year away this script should generate a substantial amount of traffic for the website that acquires it."

First Image of "Rec 3: Genesis"

This film will take place in the light of day and will take place at another site far from the building of the first two movies. This time it appears that  the infection takes place at a wedding, in which Leticia Dolera and Diego Martin will be the bride and groom ...

In '[REC] 3: Genesis'  a clever twist draws together the plots of the first two movies and this third part of the saga works as a decoder to uncover information hidden in the first two films and leaves the door open for the final installment the future '[REC] 4 Apocalypse.'

With the full moon marking the arrival of the sacrifice ritual, Stefan and Elena spend a romantic day together -- afraid it might be their last. Javier Bardem officially signs deal to play Roland Deschain

Javier Bardem has officially signed an epic deal to star in the movie and TV adaptations of Stephen King's "Dark Tower" book series. The Oscar-winning actor will play Roland Deschain in the eagerly awaited Ron Howard and Brian Grazer adaptation of King's beloved seven-novel saga. It's a momentous deal because each of the three movies in the series is to be followed by a TV miniseries. A well-placed source confirmed to Page Six, "Bardem has signed on to the first movie and the miniseries, but the intention is that he will star in all three movies and each of the TV series. It's an enormous deal for any actor, but Bardem was always the first choice." The story follows "Gunslinger" Deschain as he travels through an Old West-like landscape in search of the mythical Dark Tower to save civilization. The first movie is expected to go into production in September with Howard directing.

Steven King's Dark Tower saga  to be directed in two versions of the book; One will be a mini series filmed for TV in 2012, and the other will be a major motion picture with a release set for 2013.
