My Review Of "Men In Black: The Dark Watchers"

Filmed in a very artistic and dream like style "The Dark Watchers" follows three women who are searching for UFO's in an area that is considered highly active with phenomenon. Apparently the whole town is dealing with abduction and sighting issues that have drawn attention from the paranormal community. The sightings are accompanied by the mysterious Men In Black.
The picture is shot in a confluence of images ranging from abstract to the avant-garde as the story flows from  voyeuristic scenes coupled with near dream sequences. The thing that makes this constant shift in photography techniques work is the ever present soundtrack that at times feels more like a music video than a film. The sounds are almost hypnotic and unnerving as the music sets the mood for the changing scenes with perfect intensity.
The actual story stays somewhat hidden and mysterious depending more on imagery and reaction to tell the tale and leaving the dialogue to only accent the women's lives as they realize the true terror of their ordeal. A risky approach for a film to take but if done well can make for a very intense and dramatic viewing experience. "The Dark Watchers" succeeds at times in this objective creating a very artistic and stylized piece yet at other key moments a stronger dialogue would have better served the film.
The Men In Black become more like shadows lurking around the women never making themselves known, like ghostly figures haunting the surrounding spaces. When they finally do become known it is too late for the tormented cast. These are not the Men In Black popularly represented by Will Smith instead these are dark cold figures of UFO lore.
"Men In Black: The Dark Watchers" is from Reality Films and is due out 5/8/2012. If you like artistic films that are very abstract and avant-garde then see this film. If however you need CGI and all the bells-n-whistles when watching a sci-fi or horror film then skip this picture. I for one found it intense and visually deep. I feel more cinematically intellectual for having seen "The Dark Watchers". If you would like to know more on this film check out Reality Films at www.reality-entertainment.com .

My Review Of "Bane: An Experiment In Human Suffering".

"Bane" is a dark journey through the intense emotional levels of the human psyche. From the moment the opening credits begin the story unfolds with shear abstract force and does not let go of you until the final moments of the film. It starts as four women find themselves locked away in a hidden research facility with amnesia. As they become aware of their situation, filled with fear and confusion, the director pulls you in with a symphony of eery and dark music setting the tone for an emotional roller coaster holding you to the every changing images flashing before your eyes.
At times you are reminded of Dario Argento as the film flashes from disturbing visual effects and psychological horrors that send the protagonists into terror and panic. Then the film gently unfolds further into direct French noir influences by casting force-fed slanted visions of shadow and light demanding your focus with blunt and hypnotic contrast. The blend is seamless as the characters deal with cold sterile experiments and nightmare visits from a mysterious figure called the "Surgeon". A bogeyman that combined with the harsh disconnected scientists in an aseptic environment is 100% British Indie at it's best.
The whole movie keeps you confused and emotionally invested as the women are tortured during a constant episodic journey. The lack of information given to you as the the viewer is completely intentional and well worth it. You are forced to go along on the nightmare trip completely in the dark until the last moments of the film.
For me "Bane" is able to mold cult gore and horror perfectly as only the British mind can and keep the film comprehensible. The beauty of this is done through the dark emotional music. It pulls you into the scenes and you don't care if you have no clue what or why this is all happening. You love it! At least I did. If I rated films I would give this one 3 1/2 out of 5. My only issue with the film is the long wait until the final reveal. I would have liked to see the mysterious creature shown earlier on in the film but all in all "Bane" is a really well written and executed gory nightmare. The movie does require your complete attention so if you are overly American in your viewing experience and require pictures to be "dumbed-down" or simple then this film is not gonna do it for you. It does what horror films did in the genre's beginnings- keep you guessing right until the last breath of the story.
Bane comes from Chemical Burn Entertainment and hits the streets 4/10/2012. If you want more info on this film check out www.chemicalburn.org .

"It Grows" In Pre-Production

There is a new strain of weed that is really killer and it coming for us all! Check out the poster for "It Grows".
The film is the brainchild of Nick Stathopoulos and will be directed by Ryan Cauchi. The film will first grow into a short film and hopefully with much support and enthusiasm from us all will bud into a full on stoner attack in full feature psychotica! Said to be a combo feeling of "The Blob", "Little Shop Of Horrors" and "The Thing" this is one project that I hope really grows into an awesomely high times franchise!

“Truth Or Dare” Trailer

From the Facebook Page:
“The attraction of ‘truth or dare’ as an idea is simple: it takes an innocent game played by teenagers and students the world over – the core movie audience – and then subverts it by using it as a means of revenge for a crazed young man seeking the truth about his brother. In addition the game features the ‘spin the bottle’ device which will be used in marketing throughout the project in posters, trailers, websites and other media.”

Directed by Robert Heath and starring David Oakes, Jennie Jacques, Liam Boyle, Jack Gordon and Alexander Vlahos.

“Delirium” Trailer

Probably the creepiest film to come out so far since “Insidious”. A perfect blend of demonic possession and entity haunting.
website_comingsoonNOicons2

Emily has mysteriously returned home to her mother Rachel and stepfather Timothy, after being missing for over a year. There are no clues as to where she has been, and after extensive medical research, no one has been able to provide any answers to the mystery of the past year. Upon Emily's return, her biological father Barry has decided to launch a custody war against Rachel and Timothy, threatening to take Emily away from Rachel again. As the days go on, strange events begin occurring in the home. Something came back with Emily.
Delirium explores the story of two parents faced with the ultimate double-edged sword, through 90 minutes of heart pounding events and situations. Rachel and Timothy are presented with the choice of keeping Emily in a dangerous home, or letting her biological father Barry take her. Delirium has been received extremely well in the test screenings, with audience members being left in tears at the dramatic and emotional ending which seems to last with them for days. The film has been labeled, "a family horror film," meaning it offers something for just about everyone in the family, creating a whole new category and raising the bar for entertainment. Delirium delivers twists and turns, intense situations, dramatic moments, complicated dilemmas, and of course, extremely scary and violent moments.
