Ever Wonder What The Scariest Horror Halloween Costumes Are?

Have you ever wondered what the scariest horror Halloween costumes are that people pick? Well with all the choices out there and an almost endless supply of horror inspiration it could seem like a hard choice to make. Well, Halloween is just around the corner so time is of the essence. You may think that it would be easy to not be seen as  just another cat in the crowd, or creepy but sexy Freddy Krueger, well the tendency to migrate toward specific horror icons for inspiration puts people more a like than you would imagine.

Just how close are you to becoming the other-other Sam? Check out the infograph created by  Angels Fancy Dress , a fancy dress supplier and Oscar winning costumier for movies like Bram Stokers Dracula and more recently Woman in Black, showing the most picked legends of fright to go as on our most hallowed of holidays-Halloween.

I have to say that the infograph does offer a nice little peek into fellow horror family's and costumers' psyche. Pretty much every character shown here, representing the top icons chosen for Halloween-and if we expand a bit-even cosplay, are the very characters I tend to migrate toward with movie watching, cold days that I crave a comfort classic horror with some snacks.  However who wins the best or most realistic at the party or festival, is still up in the air and completely dependent on how intense you get into creating these delightful boogie men.

Watch “The Amazing Mr. X”

1Been awhile since I added to the Horror movie classic archive. “The Amazing Mr. X” is one of those wonderful classic noir films that is public domain. The film was released in 1949 and directed by Bernard Vorhaus. “The Amazing Mr. X” stars Lynn Bari, Richard Carlson, Turhan Bey and Cathy O'Donnell.

Two years after her husband's death, Christine Faber (Lynn Bari) thinks she hears her late husband (Richard Carlson) calling out of the surf on the beach one night. She meets a tall dark man (Turhan Bey) who seems to know all about her. After more ghostly manifestations, Christine and her younger sister (Cathy O'Donnell) become enmeshed in the strange life of Alexis; but he in turn finds himself manipulated into deeper cruelness than he had in mind.

My Easter/4.20 Horror List

I have been running possible films for Easter Sunday through my brain. I plan to blend in the obvious 4.20 flicks like the Evil Bong series and Hansel & Gretel Get Baked but the Easter films have been more difficult. I am focusing on ones that I haven’t seen as often. So here is my list of Easter horror for Easter Sunday.

1First up I plan to watch “Serial Rabbit” (2005) directed by Brett William Mauser.

Every year on Easter, a brutal serial killer stalks Texas searching for victims lacking spiritual awareness. This year, the serial killer has found Austin's hottest rave, and a slew of new victims.

2After that I have “Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill!” (2006), directed by Chad Ferrin, for my second film.

Remington, a murderous grifter cons his way into a mother's heart, putting on a fatherly facade to her cherished son, Nicholas. But the second she leaves for work, a torrent of abuse rains upon the gentle boy. Remington heads out for some hookers and invites his dilettante-child molester-drug-dealer buddy over to abuse Nicholas. In the meantime, the only comfort the boy gets is in confiding with his new pet bunny. Debauchery is at hand but Nicholas is nowhere to be found but someone wearing the mask of the beloved holiday hopper shows up ready to deliver a blood-splattered night of unspeakable carnage.

3The third holiday horror on my list is Dustin Mills “Easter Casket” (2013).

All hell breaks loose when Peter Cottontail aka The Easter Bunny hears that the Catholic Church is about to do away with all Easter rituals not pertaining directly to the resurrection of Christ. With Father Asher (A warrior priest) hot on his trail Cottontail starts a rampage leaving the bodies of the clergy (and a few schoolgirls) in his wake. Can Asher stop him before its too late?

4My fourth film to round out my Easter themed horror viewing is “Critters 2” , a staple and must for me every Easter. The film is directed by Mike Garris and for a holiday about eggs it is perfect.

A batch of unhatched critter eggs are mistaken for Easter eggs by the country-folk inhabitants of Grover's Bend and, before long, the ferocious furballs are on the rampage again.

5Of course these films will be mixed in with the “Evil Bong” franchise and “Hansel & Gretel Get Baked” because tomorrow is 4.20 which makes Sunday a double holiday celebration for me and my horror flick fun fest.

EVIL BONG: Meet EEBEE, a vintage bong with the mysterious power to grant truly killer highs! Hypnotized by EEBEE, college nerd ALISTAIR McDOWELL (David Weidoff) and his stoner roommates - including LUANN (Robin Sydney) and JANET (Kristyn Green) - take a toke and EEBEE sends them on a wild trip to her Bong World. There they encounter Eebee in her full evil glory, sexy but deadly dancers, and a veritable Full Moon smorgasbord of guest stars…

6Directed by Duane Journey.

A brother and sister battle a witch who lures teenagers into her suburban home with her special blend of marijuana where she then proceeds to kill and eat them to maintain her youth and beauty.

Psychotic Saturdays! Six Films Of Madmen And Mayhem

psychotic saturdays

It has been awhile since I did a Psychotic Saturdays post. The post is meant to highlight six films from classic and modern horror genres that exploit the crazy in humanity. The extreme horrific satire that life can often lead someone into is wonderful fodder for horror movie making. From every subject such as killer kids or just the killer inside, psychotics thrive in our nightmares and stories. So I am posting on this Saturday six more classic tales of twisted minds and gruesome thrills.

1. Another Son Of Sam 1977

5. The Defiance Of Good 1974

The next day Christian meets her again at a yacht party and they fall in love. Nightmare In Tina Land: A Photo Blog Of The Death Of Tina Gray

nightmare on elm street stills

Nightmare In Tina Land is a photo blog of the dead of Tina Gray. Tina was played by Amanda Wyss. She was the very first fatality of Freddy’s diabolic war on the children of Elm Street. Poor Tina – don’t you know that everybody has nightmares. The key is not to die! Tina’s nightmares where a dark journey down a blood soaked rabbit hole. Unfortunately for this little “Alice” Wonderland is made of fire and blades filled with the sounds of death.

nightmare on elm street 2
nightmare on elm street 1
“I only dream in a brilliant white” -In Eastern cultures, white is associated with death and mourning.  Tina starts in a beautiful white environment but it isn’t a symbol of her clean pure bliss. She is moving away from the white serenity toward her fate. This is an omen for Tina Gray- to dream of such a bright white- It sings of death. Tina should have never went back to sleep. The poor child should be held up in some run down trailer park chasing the dragon and rambling of the burnt man with knives for fingers. Still singing 1-2 Freddy’s coming for you – but not me!
nightmare on elm street 3
nightmare on elm street 4
Dreaming of a long corridor or hallway symbolizes the journey that one is one it the waking life. As Tina steps from her omen of white she finds herself walking down this very path to her future. A future that is dark, shadowy and full of uncertainty. Oh Tina-go back into the light!!!
nightmare on elm street 5
The lamb is a marker of innocence. Considering it too is in the dark corridor and fleeing shows that innocence is lost or is in transition. This is a very critical and dangerous time for the spirit-many things wait just beyond innocence to devour the naïve wanderer. Once there was a lamb as white as snow, it played- it sang- it’s fleece was gold, ah but soon this lamb did lose it’s way, the devil came to stay and stole it’s soul!
nightmare on elm street 6
nightmare on elm street 7
Tina flees the omens of the white light surrounding her and the dark corridor, far from the little lamb, only to find herself disoriented within the damp confines of an old industrial building. She herself is somewhat lost and confused-trying to stay connected to herself. The fact that she seems to be fleeing from some one in her dream shows the fear of not knowing what the future holds. It holds death Tina!!!!!
nightmare on elm street9
nightmare on elm street 8
nightmare on elm street 10
To find yourself dreaming of such fiery surroundings is a clear warning against current behaviors that may be risky or dangerous. To dream of a bad man means that someone is feeling a little guilty about recent actions. Maybe getting laid wasn’t such a good idea after all. Or maybe it is a feeling that someone around you is not a good person and could be leading you down a wrong path. Either way it is a real fuck-all moment. Tina ran from her pursuer but she couldn’t run from her dreams. Freddy do love a lost child! A but fortunately for Tina she survived that night’s frightful dreamfest!
nightmare on elm street 11
nightmare on elm street 12
Poor Tina why did you have to go and fall asleep again! Now you got someone tapping at your window on a night when the air is blue. The fact that Tina is dreaming of a someone outside her window shows clear signs of not feeling to optimistic about her current state of affairs or future journey. The window actually being broke screams omen. It means that bad things are ahead, tread lightly or take a moment to decide if this particular journey is worth traveling at all. Oh Tina don’t go outside!
nightmare on elm street 13
nightmare on elm street 14
Facing the bad man. Poor Tina is forced to confront the dark side of path in the form of a psycho killer- a horribly burnt man with knives as fingers! These are your God now Tina. You have gone too far on this reckless path and sadly you must now die. 1-2 Freddy has done came for you!
nightmare on elm street 15
Ah to be attacked in our dreams. It is not a good thing. It symbolizes an emotional flux. This are no longer balanced and we struggle between who we where and who we are to become. The key to take control of the attacker and not let them win. Sadly there is no kung-fu awakening in Tina. She is defenseless against her fears. Don’t worry though Tina soon Freddy will take all that hurt and pain away!
nightmare on elm street 16
nightmare on elm street 17
nightmare on elm street 18
The Death Of Tina Gray! This “Alice” never survived her journey through the rabbit hole, her adventures in Wonderland or the struggle to get back home. Freddy came, Tina screamed and the blood flowed. A lot of blood flowed. It soaked the room. It is never coming out of those sheets and you might as well plan on buying some new wallpaper as well!
