Inspired by a True Story
The mythos of “Playback” is rooted in the mysterious disappearance of Louis Le Prince, a French inventor considered by many film historians to be the true father of motion pictures.
Louis Le Prince was a French inventor considered by many film historians to be the true father of motion pictures. In October 1888, Le Prince captured “Roundhay Garden Scene” and “Leeds Bridge Scene” on paper film using a single-lens camera, several years before competitors Auguste and Louis Lumière and Thomas Edison released their inventions.
Louis Le Prince was planning a public exposition for his films at Jumel Mansion in New York City when he vanished without a trace. He was last seen in Dijon on Friday, Sept. 16, 1890, boarding the 2:42 p.m. train for Paris.
Theories about his disappearance abound. Some believe he committed suicide. Some say he was assassinated by henchmen working for Thomas Edison. Some say he succumbed to financial and social pressure from his family and “disappeared” to live his life in obscurity in the US. Still others believe his disappearance was due to darker, even more nefarious reasons.

Dread Central got the exclusive on an indie zombie film called "Infected" from Glenn Ciano. Starring Michael Madsen, William Forsythe, Christy Carlson Romano, Tommy DeNucci, Johnny Cicco, Annie Worden, and Jeanine Kane.
Synopsis
Natural selection says that, when faced with a predatory intrusion, all organisms must evolve to survive. However, Darwin made no promises that evolution would lead to improvement...
As they’ve been doing for years, Louis and his son Andrew are first to arrive at the peaceful cottage their hunting club rents each deer season, and as the other club members arrive they begin the familiar, relaxing task of setting up the cabin. Deep in the woods, cut off from civilization, they spend a long weekend cleaning, rekindling old friendships, and hunting.
Kelly, the cabin’s caretaker, arrives heavy with news that her grandmother is ill. When grandma disappears in the woods, it is quickly apparent that she is not sick from any ordinary virus.
Reports of hysteria and brutality in rural wooded areas throughout New England. The source of the violence is unknown, and almost universally unprovoked. Normally sane men and women, young and old, have begun committing unimaginably horrific acts...humanity is sick.
As infection spreads inexplicably through the hunting club, one by one, decisions have to be made, and old friends abandoned. You see, all creatures must either evolve to meet new threats, to protect themselves from the predators at the door...or face extinction
We all know zombies don’t exist in the real world. The dead don’t rise from their graves, don’t stalk the earth impelled by a witch doctor’s curse. But what if, in the real world, zombies weren’t dead? What if instead what we recognize as zombies were simply unfortunate human beings infected with the very really parasites that exist on nearly every inch of the earth, and deep within each of us.
Turned into singularly driven creatures who’s need for energy more closely resembles an addiction than a hunger.
What if at their core these creatures were still people, who understood the atrociousness of the unnatural acts they committed but were unable to stop.
This is a reality Andrew and his father could not have possibly imagined when their hunting trip began a few days earlier. This is the terror that faces nine friends, as one by one, they are forced to experience the monstrosity of the… Infected!

"In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet—or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.
Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.
Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth’s ne’er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger’s precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath). The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley) and David’s new nanny, Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote)."

Paul Is Undead Press Release
From the Press Release
Los Angeles-based entertainment venture Sham Productions has acquired the film rights to author Alan Goldsher's acclaimed Beatles/zombie remix novel, Paul Is Undead: The British Zombie Invasion. Sham President Barry M. Greenberg will produce Goldsher's screen adaptation, with Goldsher attached as co-producer.
Published to rave reviews in June of 2010 by Gallery Books/Simon & Schuster, Paul Is Undead follows "the story of the zombified Fab Four from their early days shuffling through the foul sewers of Liverpool to the infamous Shea Stadium riot that almost destroyed New York to the breakup that turned Abbey Road Studios into rubble."
Of his screenplay Goldsher says, "It's loyal to the book's oral history vibe. The film will be done mocumentary-style; I envision a big budget Behind The Music. You've got Mick Jagger as a zombie hunter, you've got Ringo Starr as a Ninja, and you've got John Lennon eating all the brains you can shake a guitar at, so I figure some lucky director will have a blast with this."
Greenberg notes, "We're thrilled to have Paul Is Undead as one of our first properties. Alan's screenplay is original, hilarious, and, above all, really gross. Folks will be talking about the Sgt. Pepper bloodbath for years."
The brainchild of veteran producer Barry M. Greenberg, Sham Production's goal is threefold: to entertain, to tell stories, and to get stuff made. Sham's productions, be they for film, television, or the Interweb, will be intelligent and accessible. And Sham intends to partner with the coolest of the cool, be it a writer, an actor, a director, or a fellow production company.

Eric Balfour of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and Skyline notoriety will take on the roll as director for the film "Jesus Hates Zombies" which will be a live action movie adaptation of Stephan Lindsay's comic.
"In a not so distant future, zombies have overrun the earth. Fearing for the future of humanity, God sends his son Jesus Christ to save humanity. Upon returning, he finds that his powers are greatly diminished as they are tied to others' faith in him. So he sets out to find the last remaining faithful and rally them to his cause.
Along the way he comes across various friends including Mother Theresa, Elvis Presley, a stripper named King, and a time traveling Abraham Lincoln, who brings his own problem along. Werewolves."
-side note: Somehow I feel there should be singing and dancing! Maybe because of Jesus being in the title, it makes me think of Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat and Jesus Christ Superstar!...yeah it should have singing and dancing....

More "Oz The Great And Powerful" News
According to Variety, though, there are three witches, and the good one, Glinda, will be played by Michelle Williams. Kunis and Weisz, meanwhile, will play Glinda’s evil witch sisters. I guess this means Weisz has officially signed onto the film, which makes you wonder where that leaves Universal’s “The Bourne Legacy”, where Weisz was being sought to play the female lead.
Glinda teams up with a snake oil salesman to be played by James Franco, a huckster who eventually becomes the Oz of the title, in order to save the populace from her evil witch sisters.
A script by Mitchell Kapner and David Lindsay-Abaire. “Oz The Great and Powerful” will be a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz”

NBC putting the 'Grimm' back in crime fighting
Synopsis:
Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you before bedtime? Well, those weren't stories, they were warnings.
Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) thought he was ready for the grim reality of working homicide in Portland, Oregon. That is, until he started to see things...things he couldn't quite explain. Like a gorgeous woman suddenly transforming into a hideous hag or an average Joe turning into a vicious troll. Then, after a panicked visit from his only living relative, Nick discovers the truth about his visions: He's not like everyone else; he's a descendant of an elite group of hunters known as "Grimms" who are charged with stopping the proliferation of supernatural creatures in the world. And so begins his new life journey - albeit a reluctant one at first - as he solves crimes with his partner who knows something about Nick has radically changed but can't quite put his finger on it. Along the way, Nick finds himself unexpectedly getting help on some of the more difficult cases from Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell), a guy who seems normal at first but is soon revealed to be what you might call a "big bad wolf." Literally!
While the Brothers Grimm wrote fairy tales that children have adored for generations, imagine if the villains were real and Nick was the only one who could stop them.
From executive producers David Greenwalt ("Angel", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer") and Jim Kouf ("Angel", National Treasure) comes a new world of police work where all cases have a storybook connection...but not always happily ever after. "Grimm" also stars Russell Hornsby as Lt. Hank Griffin, Bitsie Tulloch as Juliette Silverton, Sasha Roiz as Captain Renard, and Reggie Lee as Sgt. Wu.
