"Hammer Horror: The Warner Bros. Years" Is Coming To Blu-ray August

Hammer Horror: The Warner Bros. Years is Coming to Blu-ray on Aug 26 (Diabolique Films)

The untold story of Hammer at Warner Bros, and the relationship that produced some of the British company’s finest films.

The classic Hammer films from Warner Bros have now received an in-depth exploration complete with special feature in this documentary. The fascinating story is finally told in this unprecedented 101-minute documentary feature, HAMMER HORROR: THE WARNER BROS YEARS, written and directed by Marcus Hearn, Hammer Films’ official historian. The documentary features exclusive interviews with some of the key players from that period, as well as authors and historians like Sir Christopher Frayling and Jonathan Rigby. Also included are rare production stills, previously unseen film footage, Hammer’s original shooting locations, and access to previously unpublished archive documents.

There are only a few hundred copies available. There will not be another print run, so once they’re gone, that will be it.
In the 1950s Hammer, England’s world-renowned production company, initiated a new style of horror filmmaking that transformed the genre. At the end of the 1960s, the world that Hammer had helped to create was changing fast – the once-reliable business model was unraveling and audiences wanted something new from their films. Amid this uncertainty, Hammer’s short-term survival was secured by an alliance with American distributor Warner Bros. The films the two companies made together are among the most renowned in Hammer’s history. Classics such as Dracula Has Risen From the Grave (1968), Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed (1970) and Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970) were produced alongside the Oscar-nominated epic When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970), the disturbing thriller Crescendo (1970) and the bizarre sci-fi western Moon Zero Two (1969). The films became increasingly experimental in the 1970s, challenging the perception of traditional Gothic horror with Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972), The Satanic Rites of Dracula (1973) and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires (1974).
What the Critics Are Saying
“… for real Hammer Film aficionados, it provides a uniquely satisfying glimpse into a period of immense growth, both financially and artistically, for the iconic studio. Highly recommended.” ~ Blu-ray.com
“Chock full of interesting anecdotes, [the film] covers a slew of Hammer productions that have long gotten short shrift from the very company that owns them.” ~ Rock! Shock! Pop!

“The doc is an impressive and worthwhile addition to any horror lover’s collection, as well as an insightful retrospective of days gone by in horror that many still yearn for.” ~ Scream Magazine

My Review Of "King Cohen: The Wild World Of Filmmaker Larry Cohen"

The true story of writer, producer, director, creator and all-around maverick, Larry Cohen (BLACK CAESAR, GOD TOLD ME TO, Q THE WINGED SERPENT, THE STUFF, PHONE BOOTH). Told through interviews, stills and film/TV clips, "King Cohen: The Wild World Of Filmmaker Larry Cohen" features appearances by film icons Martin Scorsese, John Landis, Michael Moriarty, Fred Williamson, Yaphet Kotto and many more. Larry himself, brings a one-of-a-kind insight into the work, process and legac, spanning more than 50 years of entertaining audiences worldwide! "King Cohen" is directed by Steve Mitchell.

The documentary is a classic cut for cut recollection of a truly unique and paramount figure in modern cinema. Larry Cohen if a frontiersman for the independent film community and "King Cohen" establishes this fact with informative and entertaining biography and interviews. The most value to this film comes in the form of first person accounts from Mr. Cohen himself offering back story to some truly monumental cult classic film and television projects given to us from his sheer genius of creativity.

"King Cohen" keeps with the standard documentary format, but still manages to be compelling and entertaining beyond your typical shtick seen in DVD extras, or basic documentary styles. First Look - Jared Masters’ Mannequin Movie "Agalmatophilia"

The official trailer is here! Agalmatophilia (pronounced A-GAL-MATTO-PHILIA, is a paraphilia involving sexual attraction to a statue, doll, mannequin) is the story of Guy Talbot, an isolated workaholic who seeks a secretary to help manage his life and business. He hires his first applicant, Iesha Stayput, who oddly enough appears to be a living, breathing mannequin. She aides him in business affairs, slowly but surely, but her professionalism quickly becomes secondary to Guy’s ulterior motives… Complicating matters is his vivacious client, Veronique, who swoons over Guy, perhaps as a curiously, frustrated about his lack of interest in her and obvious growing obsession with his new co-worker, who may or may not be little more than a twisted fantasy, forced into fruition. Can Guy find happiness with a moving, speaking mannequin, or will he finally fall for Veronique, who may have an odd obsession of her own?

Jared Masters stars in his feature film debut in a leading role. Co-starring Brittany Ballantyne as Veronique and the voice of Iesha Stayput, the lovely new secretary Guy Talbot (Jared Masters) hires and falls in love with. He won’t let the fact that she’s a mannequin ruin the future he sees with her. This new dark comedy is a ambitious and controversial experiment in the human psyche. Can a grown man truly love an inanimate semi-lifelike human figure?

Since the dawn of time, man has had much trouble resisting the urge to assimilate and ascertain the opposite sex. Michelangelo, with his hammer he chiseled, “Eros.” Thousands of miles away in the South Pacific, pirates looted their way past Scylla and Charybdis in awe. For perhaps like Michelangelo, she was the only essence of Venus, or, simply the most lovely. Frolic Pictures brings you, the Sultan of Sensationalism: Jared Masters, opening the door, baring it all, exposing (in exquisite detail) the deepest nooks and crannies of his own, personal agalmatophiliac issues.

It will be Masters’ first leading role, in his thirteenth feature film, Agalmatophilia, as the lonely, psychotic desk clerk, Guy Talbot. The debutante director of the film, Brittany Ballantyne, stars as the elusive dream creature, Iesha Stayput, the first and only woman to puncture Guy Talbot’s fantasy. Brittany also plays the role of the effervescent flirt candy, Veronique. If your heart can stand the electric shock: the bruised, brooding illusion of the nouveau cinematic movement. Revolutionized by the pair under the name: ANTI – CINEMA. What is ANTI – CINEMA? Where can I get it? Does it fit in a size seven shoe? Set in the bleak tomorrow’s terror, future-retro-istic, soon becoming plastic civilization. ANTI – CINEMA takes everything you know about motion pictures and throws it off the rooftop onto the boulevard. It will tarnish every silver screen from here to Timbuktu. ANTI – CINEMA, the revelation, the epiphany, the answer to today’s HD, HI-FI, mass exploitation, brain-dead society, is brought to you live from Los Angeles by Hollywood’s only hope, Jared Masters.

Bridging the gap between fantasy and reality, Agalmatophilia, is closing in on the end of production. Expect nothing less from the Prince of Horror Erotica in Agalmatophilia. Raw and punchy. Dryly humorous. Fun and exciting. An exposé on the life of a man with a certain je-ne-sais-quoi-pas, extreme definite taste, and a lust for love. Iesha and Veronique are part of maniac Guy Talbot’s moonstruck love triangle. Explore the possibilities in 2018’s wildest screen wonder Agalmatophilia
