Cities are tombs and survivors cling together in rural pockets, fearful of nightfall. When his family is slaughtered, young Martin (Gossip Girl’s Connor Paolo) is taken under the wing of a grizzled, wayward hunter (In the Cut’s Nick Damici) whose new prey are the undead. Simply known as Mister, the vampire stalker takes Martin on a journey through the locked-down towns of America’s heartland, searching for a better place while taking down any bloodsuckers that cross their path. Along the way they recruit fellow travellers, including a nun (Kelly McGillis) who is caught in a crisis of faith when her followers turn into ravenous beasts. This ragtag family unit cautiously moves north, avoiding major thoroughfares that have been seized by The Brethren, a fundamentalist militia headed by Jebedia Loven (Tony award-winning actor Michael Cerveris) that sees the plague as the Lord’s work. Plot Summary: Senior Charlie Brewster finally has it all going on: he's running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he's so cool he's even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there's something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie's mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.
I guess! Honestly the only thing I see him needing to do these days is Biggest Loser: Celebrity Smack Down! I made that up, there is no such show!
A gothic nightmare story about what? Val Kilmer told Interview Magazine this: “It’s a Halloween extravaganza. There's dogs and vampires. I play a writer who’s something like [author] Mario Puzo, or at least how Francis describes Puzo’s experience where he wrote The Godfather while he was waiting for inspiration for his masterpiece. My character is a guy who tossed off this book about witches, and it became a big deal, and now he’s known as doing these silly witch books and he’s on hard times now looking for inspiration.”
I personally don't think this one will do well. The original rocked but the one's that followed just flat out sucked. I still see only Brandon Lee giving this character legitimacy, and anyone else doing it just seems somewhat generic. Hopefully Carlos Fresnadillo will prove me wrong, and if he does then I will happily "eat crow"!
From my work in progress Demon In The Mist...
... She felt her body forcibly pushed down against the dead leaves and branches. She was in the hills now, still covered by this dark grey creature that swirled like smoke and she felt the life slowly drain from her body. Just before the darkness set in for good Margie Stamper saw the thick black almond eyes form from somewhere deep within the mist and stare down at her. The cold fear set in and suddenly she saw the steel shimmer of teeth, like daggers, they came from the mist just as the eyes had and moved down toward her. Margie felt the harsh pain as those teeth sank into her flesh and began to drink from her. Lifeless against the fall debris lay the corpse of Margie Stamper, only feet from the very porch that she tried so desperately to get to only moments earlier.

A brutal and harrowing creature feature for the 21st century, THE BAY chronicles the descent of a small town into absolute terror.

"The death of Mr. Salvador Gilbreath"
.... Sheriff Arlan Mitchell was not aware of the severity of the situation about to transpire outside this humble little neighborhood with only six residential dwellings. Soon he would know all too well just how close to danger and death he and the young men had come. No more than twenty yards from where they were at Mr. Salvador Gilbreath lay at the edge of the woods behind his own home being devoured. As Mitchell disparaged the young men of their actions the thing that dwelt within the darkness and traveled through the mist came down from the dark hillside and dug its malformed and fractual claws into Salvador’s breast and dragged him into the darkness. It dug deep into the flesh of the old man’s chest striking the bones along the rib cage. It formed crude and shimmering teeth and sank them into shoulder and neck of the wimpering man as he lay there in the shadows of the mountains and began to feel himself die into the cold dark nether of mortality. The creature that had no name and no cause to exist drank completely and savagely until there was no more of the warm thick metallic fluid left in the old man. As Arlan Mitchell now directed one young Mr. McCreary to call his folks and tell them the situation, outside in the dark damp misty night, the demon of Black Bear Peak drew down and brought death just twenty yards away...
SXSW Blog 'The Playlist' has given a great break down of the little ghost-adventure film's synopsis:
"The boyish, limber Claire (Sara Paxton) is in the middle of what her sarcastic coworker Luke (Pat Healy) describes as a “quarterlife crisis,” and, having dropped out of college, sees no future beyond the closing of the hotel. Because the inn has experienced such low traffic, the frequently-irritable Luke has set up a website documenting the history of a ghost that haunts the rooms. Enlisting Claire to help him explore the hotel by tracking EVP, Luke speaks of a single ghost encounter, which has fueled her still-skeptical interest. Because the ghost seems to be the only company around, wasting hours tracking the possibly nonexistent cracks and creaks of the underworld seems to pass the time. Luke owns a laptop to explore his internet porn interests, but Claire can only retreat to the coffee shop, where the chatty barista (“Tiny Furniture” star Lena Dunham, in a spirited cameo) takes every opportunity to overshare."-Gabe Toro
I am like a big kid and happened to love "Scooby-Doo" and "The Haunted Mansion" as much as I like my gory gruesome horror genre so this doesn't dis way me from seeing the film, however it will be when the dvd comes out my way instead of paying the moola to sit at the cina-plex, unless someone knows of a rent-a-kid company with 8 yr olds dying to be spooked. Actually got a couple that fit the descript in my family so who knows I may go see it after all. This is if either one can be pulled from their 360 Live long enough to be bothered with film.
anyway before I go on rambling about nothing important at all let me tell ya to go check out the review or at iW...
Dr. Satan himself recently posted the first official image from "Lords of Salem", his new and most promising work to date (outside his rocking music). So far "Devil's Rejects", Halloween 1&2, and 'The Haunted World of El Superbeasto' have given me some great cinematic joy. I have the same expectations for "Lords of Salem". Based on the small tidbits thus far the film will be gruesome, horrific, and gloriously darkly delicious !
RZ BLOG! Synopsis: “The Lords of Salem follows a local DJ who mistakenly unleashes a hellish curse on the town. 300 years earlier on the very streets of Salem that the townspeople walk on today, innocent folks were rounded up from their homes, convicted of being witches and sentenced to death. The Lords of Salem ran the town with an iron fist, but four witches who were tortured and killed in secrecy vowed that one day they would be back for revenge.”

The independent anthology feature PSYCHO STREET is getting closer to completion, with the last segment, LEWIS, now close to finishing postproduction.
From the beginning, stories of angels and men have captured our imaginations and have been etched into our history crossing all boundaries of culture, religion, and time. These two races have dominated the landscape of modern mythology for countless centuries, almost washing away the evidence that a third ever existed. This third race, born of smokeless fire, was called the jinn. Similar to humans in many ways, the jinn lived invisibly among us and only under dire or unusual circumstances were our paths ever meant to cross.
As humans became the dominant force on Earth, contact between man and jinn steadily decreased. .
Hammer Films' Wake Wood will make its U.S. DVD debut through Dark Sky on June 2.
The film tells the story of Patrick and Louise Daley (Aiden Gillen and Eva Birthistle), whose 9-year-old daughter, Alice (Ella Connolly), is killed in a horrific dog attack. To escape their grief, the devastated young parents move to the remote rural Irish community of Wake Wood (the movie was shot on location in County Donegal, Ireland). Sensing Patrick and Louise’s loss, the strange people of Wake Wood introduce the couple to a bizarre pagan ritual that will bring Alice back from the grave – for three days only. The Daleys find the idea disturbing and exciting in equal measure, but once they agree to terms with Arthur, the village’s mysterious leader, a far bigger question looms: What will they do when it’s time for Alice to leave them forever?
Aidan Gillen, Eva Birthistle and Timothy Spall star.
