Official Trailer Release For Indie Thriller "Failing Grace"

The official trailer has been released for indie film "Failing Grace", a stylized, obsession thriller in the vain of classics like “Cape Fear” and “The Crush”, with hints of “Fatal Attraction” and “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” peppered in. Released by Concept Media (“Midsummer Nightmares,” “Don’t Fuck in the Woods”), the film is written and directed by studio co-founder Ryan Stacy; produced by Shawn Burkett, Chris Gierowski, and JJ Phillips (author of the indie horror sensation “Parental Bloodshed”).

The film is centered around sisters Maggie (Sarah Curtis) and Grace Novak (Caroline Vineyard), both actress making their film debuts, who are moving on after the brutal murder of their parents at the hands of the former’s estranged lover, Jack Elligott (Josh Miller, “Nothing Good Ever Happens”). Five years after that fateful night, Jack returns after his disappearance and is out for unhinged revenge. Having hid the truth behind Jack’s evil ways, Maggie soon finds all happiness & progress interrupted when this deranged man slithers back into their lives...and the lies meant to protect Grace begin to fail her.

Other cast delivering gripping performances include Marylee Osborne (Betsy, Primordial) as Leona, Jack’s equally crazed sidekick. Stacy Freeders (“Midsummer Nightmares”) returns to the screen as Maggie’s obnoxiously rich gal-pal Joplin O’Toole. Brittany Blanton (“Don’t Fuck in the Woods” & it’s sequel) plays Cara Knoll, Grace’s oversexed friend and (poor) voice of reason. Austin Tarantino (“Scream for Summer”) steals the show as Grace’s potential love interest.

The film is currently making its way around for film festival consideration; a theatrical premiere to be set at a later date.

My Review Of "The Cloverfield Paradox"

Produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by Julius Onah, "The Cloverfield Paradox" is the third installment in the franchise, and by far the most adventurous and experimental. The sci-fi horror takes on a look and feel closer to "Event Horizon" or "Supernova" and less like a monster movie. It stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, Daniel Brühl, John Ortiz, Chris O'Dowd, Aksel Hennie, Zhang Ziyi, Elizabeth Debicki, and Roger Davies.

The story is a complicated, complex stitching of several sci-fi tropes filled with quantum mechanics, physics and a lot of science stuff I don't know enough about to be impressed or aggrevated. I do get enough of what Data or Seven-Of-Nine tells me on Star Trek to think "that makes since. And I love 'The Big Bang Theory'. Other than that I take a movie's premise on face value when watching sci-fi.  So I was intrigued with the story here on theoretical merit alone.

The acting in "The Cloverfield Paradox" is lukewarm. The cast is a collection of notable talent, yet most performances either fell a bit flat or seemed two-dimensional. It has some pretty good moments that seem to happen surprisingly and randomly during some dialog scenes,  and some of the action moments are cool. Alot of the time though you can almost hear the word "action". Not really but...

Now I dug the special effects. The settings had an almost revamped "2001 : Space Odyssey" feel and the CGI is theatre quality. The last third is really the only indication this is a Cloverfield movie, and the ending is one you know is coming way in advanced, but it is a cool ending. I kinda felt I was watching more of a prequel explaining the real story about what went down that caused the first film to happen. Overall the film is a mixed bag but as disjointed as it seems it has some entertaining moments. (2.5/5)

New Poster Released For "The Predator"

"The Predator" is directed by Shane Black and stars Boyd Holbrook, Jacob Tremblay, Yvonne Strahovski, Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Sterling K. Brown, Trevante Rhodes, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Edward James Olmos. The film hits theaters nationwide September 14, 2018.

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

Teaser Trailer Released For "Godzilla: King Of Monsters"

The first teaser trailer for sci-fi creature sequel "Godzilla : King Of Monsters" has been released. The film is set for May 2019 and is the direct sequel to 2014's "Godzilla". The film is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, and Sally Hawkins.

Monster States:
Mothra - Pupal DNA samples suggest a remarkable, multi-stage evolution. On reaching adulthood, Mothra's gigantic thorax is capable of emitting beta-wave bioluminescence which can be projected through the intricate patterns on its wings and weaponized into blinding 'god rays'. As one of the deadliest and most beautiful natural phenomena in Earth's history, no wonder this devastating guardian angel was worshipped as a goddess by the ancient human civilizations blessed to witness her.

Rodan- Rodan's wings are wrapped around its body in stasis, but our cryptos estimate a wingspan big enough to create a sonic thunderclap capable of leveling entire cities as it flies overhead. RF-Capture scans reveal that Rodan's skin is not made of rock, but does have an outer dermis of sharp volcanic sediment collected from centuries of dormancy. Sci-ops theorizes the vulcanized appearance of its skin may be an evolutionary trait developed as a form of camouflage against mountain or large rock formations. Truly, a Titan forged in fire.

Ghidorah- Monster Zero's dermal layer is gilded with trace amounts of aurum (See Ark Record # 73.126). Metallurgical studies theorize the scales act as a conductor capable of carrying bioelectrical currents through the creature's body. Injuries have been discovered on several locations on the beast's body, reminiscent of claw and scorch marks. Exo-Forensics are currently investigating. Muscle tendons on the wings are so hyper-tensile that their massive aerodynamics could generate hurricane-force winds when in flight. Coupled with its body's electro-receptor molecular biology capable of conducting electrical currents, water vapor in the air would be heated at extreme levels creating its own localized storm system as it travels. Simply put, if Monster Zero were to fly again, the stratosphere would be torn open by an otherworldly tempest of thunder and lightning our sky has never seen. Cryptolinguistics has analyzed translations of every worldwide case study of Monster Zero in the Monarch database across tens of thousands of years. The ancients called it Ghidorah.

Dee Wallace Joins Hollywood Horrorfest Free Sunday Lineup

The CITIZEN KANE of horror film documentaries gets its USA Cast & Crew Premiere

Acclaimed actress and Horror icon DEE WALLACE (E.T, Cujo, The Howling) joins the Director & crew of a film every aspiring horror filmmaker should watch - “HORROR MOVIE: A Low Budget Nightmare” - which has its USA premiere at HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST on Sunday July 29th.

Committed to helping new filmmakers learn more about the indie horror business, HOLLYWOOD HORRORFEST will be screening this highly acclaimed and incredibly insightful documentary for FREE. It will be followed by a Q&A with DEE WALLACE and the Director & crew.  The festival’s own A PANEL TO DIE FOR (P2D4), featuring industry insiders giving advice on how to best make and distribute your low budget masterpiece, also for free, will follow.

Directed by Gary Doust, “HORROR MOVIE: A Low Budget Nightmare” documents writer/director Craig Anderson’s troubled journey to make his feature film debut, the horror movie “Red Christmas” - a quaint story about a murderous aborted fetus. The documentary dramatically follows Anderson’s emotional rollercoaster ride funding, directing and finally trying to sell his dream movie to an industry he knows little about. It’s indie film-school 101 captured in a engrossing (and at times gross) tale of wide-eyed dreamers, Hollywood scream queens and a vengeful fetus at Christmas.
“Basically, every well-intentioned, wrong-step of filmmaking is documented in this wonderful and passionate film,” states Festival Founder/Director Miles Flanagan. “And for that reason, it’s a free screening. It needs to be seen by every new, rising filmmaker at the fest.”

Stay after the film and learn everything you’ve ever wanted to know about indie horror filmmaking but were afraid to ask. Seriously. A PANEL TO DIE FOR features a host of horror industry insiders laying bare the often-hidden truths of the business. Learn how much a film can make, how to pick the most sellable subject matter and most importantly what you should never ever do. If there’s only one panel you should see before making your next movie it’s this. Come with business cards and lots of questions.
"Basically Hollywood Horrorfest has gone all 'Woodstock' on you - making its two afternoon filmmaking friendly events totally FREE," explains Flanagan.

The panel includes acclaimed Writer/Director Rodney Ascher (ROOM 237), Producer Ed Polgardy (GHOSTMAKER), Distributor Vince D’Amato (DARKSIDE RELEASING), Aggregator Nadav Streett (RISING SUN MEDIA, INC), Writer/Director Rolfe Kanefsky (PARTY BUS TO HELL), Indie Director Jason Rutherford (SHHHH), Marketing Consultant Matt Chassin, Distributor Erik Lundmark (LEOMARK STUDIOS), Producer Lotti Knowles (CHASTITY BITES), and is moderated by Writer/Producer Mike Davis (PRESIDENT WOLFMAN) for 2 hours of career-changing knowledge. We kid you not.
Tickets are FREE for both events on a first come first served basis and will be available online and on the door. But we advise reserving your ticket online (tickets will be held till only 15 minutes prior to each event, so arrive early).
