My Review Of “Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers”
So last night I was up late and ran across “Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers” on cable. I set back with all anticipation of finding every bit of this film as a horrible mockery of the horror genre. I was surprised. to find that that was not the case at all. Now I remember watching this film a few other times in the past but was pretty sure that I didn’t like it. I love “Sleepaway Camp” and I still sometimes stop and gasp over the exposure seen. That film was a classic to me. I know to most of the younger people today the old stuff is boring and ridiculous, my nephew even said that they were dumb because they were not scary! Can you imagine. If I rated every movie based on that my dvd collection would be very minimal.
For me it was never about being scared for real! It was always anticipating what it was gonna look like when the head smashed or some body part was removed. Mostly for me the best thing was always seeing the endless variety of kill scenes and watching as the characters walked right into their deaths even though I would scream ecstatically at the screen for them to not go see what was taking dick so long, don’t go into the room at the end of the hall just because you think that you heard something. The different concepts of a slasher or psycho and watching their story play out against dark nights and eerie music was an epic moment for me growing up. Kinda still is!
Wow I really do ramble …anyway about “Sleepaway Camp 2” . Yeah some of the actors were really bad and seemed intimidated by the camera, but not all were bad and the parts that did seem over exaggerated kinda made sense. The story stayed tight from the first film right up until the end of the series. For Angela’s character though at times seemed insufficient was either brilliant on the directors part or really bad. I believe it was genius. She played crazy right. Mostly she didn’t know she was crazy and by god she wanted a good camping experience without all the teenage bullshit and distractions. I do wish that she would have been just a bit more expressive and over the top with the crazy but her character was ahead of her time. There could have been a bit more tension and suspense building up to the kill seen, but so what that doesn’t take away from the film if you realize what your watching. Angela is the star – she is not a slasher and this was not a spoof film as the tv description would have you believe.
This was a dark comedy straight out. It was about a girl obsessed with kumbiya’s and s’mores and games and camping with other respectable people but never getting to have that because everyone around here were miserable selfish and disruptive. It was really closer to the modern horror/comedy than an 80’s spoof. This is gonna be a bad film if you go into it thinking you will experience jaw clinching suspense and big scares and shit. If you go in realizing that your watching a classic cult film about a disturbed young lady that just happens to kill the other campers for not playing along the right way and just absorb the fact that she is skipping and whistling while she is bashing peoples heads in, setting tents on fire in the same frame of mind as when she is singing and fishing and every other normal camp activity then I think more people will see this film as real classic that was ahead of its time.
Time For A Random Rant
I have noticed that it has been awhile since I have ranted about anything. Usually there is a lot crap that I am beating back from my frontal lobe like wild beasts waiting to be fed. I have been ignoring most of it because been trying to put my focus on other things that from a white coat point of view could be deemed productive- unless I am on Facebook - damn those fucking games cause I am kinda addicted. Anywayz here is my pointless and random rant for now...
THE USE OF ARTIFICAL SWEETENERS AS OPPOSED TO NATURAL SUGARS IS AN ATTEMPT TO POISON EVERYONE!
Back when I was younger there was a craze that went on about artificial sweeteners and how they would revolutionize the food industry completely, until it was found that the man made substitute was seen to cause cancer in lab rats and latter human test subjects. Now that was almost 16 years ago or longer. Now here we are in the first part of the 21st century and once again companies are slinging artificial sweeteners like there is no tomorrow, why? Corporations and Healthcare providers are trying to kill us off and what better way to do than to make us kill ourselves by thinking we are doing something healthy by getting rid of all that nasty and unhealthy natural stuff like cane sugar or fructose’s.
Now I have no harden proof that they are doing this but I do no that in all the years that research has gone on the science community has not been able to cure one disease, not even the cold. The medications they hand us that they have designed and the FDA has approved cause more harm than good. The liver is always the first to go and when it does then game over! Anyway back to sweeteners.
I do not think for one minute that they have done anything different to make artificial sweeteners safer on the body or easier for man's system to process. The only thing they did was pump millions upon millions into research on how to market it better so that we will think it is better or improved.
This seems to work because no threw up a flag and cried foul when they began promoting these new sweeteners. Without any question or protest slowly these evil little chemicals have found there way into everything from sodas and chocolates to medication and foods. I can taste the difference. The difference is a bitter almost dry after taste that as a strong fake flavor that reminds me of bubblegum flavored plastic or some crap! They no that we are so overwhelmed with mass produced media and information and schedules and complete sensory overload that before we can think about what we don't like or trust about a product that we have been hit with the next task or responsibility along with newer and more improved products soon we forget about even eating or drinking the item that tasted funny or that it was an artificially sweetened product.
I feel these fake sweeteners penetrate the body's system through the digestive tract and embed in our cells and form free radicals and even set out to destroy the very DNA and RNA that we need to build new cells and new tissues and blood or heal ourselves naturally. This is why I will never again purchase another damn thing in the check out lane that yells out in fancy and cheeky marketing words and colors “TASTES GOOD AND IS GOOD FOR YOU”. This is a crock of stinky shit. If it is designed or manipulated by man to look, taste, or feel natural then it is bad for you and will kill you, probably.
If it is nature made and uninterrupted by man, left in its natural form for your healthy pleasure then that is the product that is good for you.
Stay away from artificial sweeteners, they are there to kill you and are evil!

First Images From The Production of “Crazy Fat Ethel 2012”
Ever since I first saw the poster heard of this remake of 1975’s “Criminally Insane” I have eagerly anticipating seeing this independent film simply and perfectly titled “Crazy Fat Ethel 2012”. Well Brian Dorton and the crew at reel Epic have been busy on the promo trailer and released a few shots from the set featuring – who else! Crazy Fat Ethel who’s silhouette has teased me with visions of Shirley Stoler and Priscilla Alden and on a couple of occasions I imagined what it would have been like had it been a John Waters film and that was Divine wielding a meat clever. Yes because sometimes my thoughts do tend to stray of the path of linear thought and focus. Anyway is really a film that I am glad to see coming in the next year!
Brian Dorton is a Kentucky cult film and independent horror director/writer/actor and what ever else his projects need him to be. He is truly talented. As the director of “Trashology”, already showing at festivals and acting in “Kill Cecile”, and “Theatre of Derange” complete you can see where his true passion lies, making and being apart of a ever growing and greatly appreciated section of cinema. The independent film industriy is about as great a place to as any to bring your visions and passions to life. Brian will also be visible soon in “Mother’s Blood” from Darkrider Studios and Alan Rowe Kelly’s “Tales Of Poe” .
Below is some on set pics recently posted on the “Crazy Fat Ethel 2012” Facebook Page from shooting the promo trailer to this soon to be cult classic.
After years in a mental institution, Ethel is taken in by her aunt. Many people including the head nurse of the institution and a local detective believe letting Ethel leave that hospital was a HUGE mistake.

Fear your neighborhood teens! “Rosewood Lane” hits home!
Right off I have nothing in common with the protagonist or the antagonist in this fright flick. However it has given me new reason to look suspiciously and distrusting at all those teens and young people running around the block up to no good I am sure!. Well actually I exaggerate but I am suppose to think bad of young people – I am almost 40!
Anyway “Rosewood Lane” will attempt to bring home that neighborhood fear February 21st, 2012.
Rose McGowan plays Doctor Sonny Blake, a radio talk show psychiatrist, who moves back to her childhood home after her alcoholic father dies. Once back in her old neighborhood she discovers the local paperboy is a frightening and cunning young sociopath that targeted her father and now targets her. When the game escalates, she suddenly finds herself in a terrifying all out war, one that forces her to redefine her ideas of good and evil, and has her fighting to stay alive.
“Ubaldo Terzani Horror Show” From Raro In January.

Beneath The Surface By Simon Strantzas
Revised and expanded, the startling debut of Simon Strantzas resurfaces with tales of dark Gods and monsters of the flesh, emissaries from a world beneath our own, a world from where nightmares are born. Here, a man searches for truth in a universe that has forsaken him and pays the price for that knowledge, and a woman with out hope travels northward to find the place where her life fell to pieces and discovers of what she truly is made. They say no man is an island, no matter how much he wishes to be, but what then is that ship that sails toward him, and what pray tell is that lashed to its bow. These are tales that infect our dreams, tales of things that live beyond our understanding and watch us with malignant indifference. They are tales of grief, of loneliness, of guilt. Tales of the liminal places that separate our world from that other world, the world to which our souls are merely a gateway. Come inside and witness what resides in us all, deep down beneath the surface.

Pure Zombie Terror From South America!
The trailer is up for “Zombie Dawn” . Zombies have been spreading and conquering for several years now with no signs of the infection slowing. I think that is a good thing!
In 2006 a mining accident unleashed a zombie horde with a craving for human flesh in a remote territory of Chile. The horde decimated a large portion of the country. The only action that the survivors could take was to enclose and seal off the infected zone and keep it away from the remaining population. Now after 15 years later the authorities and mine owners return to find out what became of the area. They send in mercenaries and scientists to find the necessary answers
Crossing into the contaminated zone is only the beginning of this nightmare…

“The House On The Edge Of The Park II”
Coming in 2012 from North Bank Entertainment. This pic is a sequel to the 1980 cult classic film. Directed by Ruggero Deodato the director of the infamous horror classic 'Cannibal Holocaust' comes a new vision in terror. This film is still in development.
Over 30 years ago, the original cult classic unsettled audiences all over the world and caused a scandal in the UK where it was banned as a "video nasty". Now, Ruggero Deodato and Giovanni Lombardo Radice return to the House on the Edge of the Park for another night that pushes the limits of acceptability and delivers shocks to the maximum.

10 Films That Impressed Me in 2011.
10. “Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2”
Chromeskull has intrigued me ever since I happened upon “Laid To Rest” on my On Demand selection and clicked the buy button. I had been jonesing for a horror flick for days that I had not done seen like a hundred times and boy am I glad I hit that button. When it first started playing I thought what the fuck this is gonna be a mistake. I felt it was gonna me of those ethereal “she doesn’t know she’s dead” flicks! However about 15 minutes into the film I realized that this a good fucking film. By the time Chromeskull really got into gear and started his carnage I was hooked by this bald, shinny, nightmare! “Laid To Rest 2” did not disappoint me. It kept that same linear path to terror that I was hoping for, thanks mainly to Thomas Dekker’s presence in the film. I have made it very clear always that I love Thomas Dekker in every thing he does! Including ‘Secret Circle’ and “Kaboom”.
"ChromeSkull" is the sequel to the 2009 horror hit "Laid to Rest." It brings back ChromeSkull, who barely escaped death in the first movie and is hell-bent on continuing where he left off... and forging a new path of terror and destruction.
9. “Fright Night”
The original to this is still one of my favorites of all time. I remember going and seeing at the theater and being scared shitless. This version seemed to disappoint some but not me. I liked that they took it Vegas and that Colin Ferrell was the vamp. I also thought that David Tennent was awesome as a Chris Angel style magician. It was a really good revision of the story.
A remake of the 1985 original, teenager Charley Brewster (Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (Tennant), a self proclaimed vampire killer and Las Vegas magician, to help him take down Jerry.
8. “The Thing”
Again- a story that goes back to my nostalgia bone and makes me happy. The 1980 version rocked and this one does great as a prequel. The tension and eeriness is very much front stage in this film and the scares are sweet. I jumped more than a few times with this film even though I knew it was coming. I couldn’t help it, the damn film just kept me sucked into it completely.
Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists. The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being. It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman. In the thriller The Thing, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they're infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet. Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish. The Thing serves as a prelude to John Carpenter's classic 1982 film of the same name. Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen, the thriller is produced by Strike Entertainment's Marc Abraham and Eric Newman (Dawn of the Dead).
7. “Insidious”
There is really not much more to say than “this film scared me and made me feel I had demons in my homes for weeks. Every time a pop when the pressure changed in the attic or the fridge kicked on I thought it was evil. True that I feel this way about the homes I have lived in on a summer fun filled day of cartoons but still this film was good. The whole time I stayed on edge with this one.
6. “Red State”
This film is just one freaky flick that makes you fear your neighbors! Especially the church on sunday, pray the gay away, “god” fearing folk! Think I live in one of these towns now… Ain’t nothing scarier than twist fanatical people!
5. “11-11-11”
I am impressed by this film mostly because it was a demon prophecy that I wasn’t familiar with. I had no clue that a small population of people around the world thought of this as real. The film didn’t disappoint me but counting down to the day and then watching it pass with nothing supernatural or other worldly happening did!
4. “Human Centipede 2: Full sequence”
Quite frankly I am shocked if I talk to someone not impressed by this film. The storyline and concept alone is brilliant. To think someone sit down and envisioned this and then made it happen twice is awesome!
3. “War Of The Dead”
Just a really good zombie flick that gave me pleasure!
2. “Vanishing On 7th Street”
This film was haunting and played on one of my personal fears-darkness and shadow people or shadow demons as I call them. Anyway what ever it is that wants us on the menu that live just beyond the veil between this world and a darker one. This was a more subdued and emotionally intense film.
1. “Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark”
I jumped more times and stayed a wreak during this film and it still makes me think of those fucking creatures while putting close away in the closet, making the bed, turning out the lights at night around the house, and just most anytime a find my self doing menial task around the house. I love when a film can take hold of me like that!
More To Fear In Columbia Than Guerillas
Columbian horror film “The Squad” shows that there is more to fear in the thick foggy mountains of the South American State than guerillas and wild life. The trailer doesn’t give much away but manages to leave a deep and intense impression upon me that this could be more than just another zombie flick or virus gone wrong ordeal.
An elite team of nine soldiers enter the dark and foggy mountains of the Columbian wilderness in an attempt to take out guerillas that they believe have laid siege to the area. When they get there they find a horror much worse than civil unrest.

12 minutes of ‘Spartacus’ Glory!
On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in “Spartacus: Vengeance”. Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage. Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death, or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.
My Review Of 1978’s “Invasion Of The Body Snatchers”
The film is very simple to enjoy. There are no major plot twists that can over complicate some stories. This film stays true to its origins. However in the 1956 film the invasion began in a small town and in this film it moves to the big city of San Francisco. This film also plays on the psychology craze that seemed to sweep the nation between the mid 60’s and early 80’s. Apparently for a while shrinks were the in crowd. I try dealing with them but they just keep wanting to lock me up. It is a conspiracy. Anyway this film is easy to watch and good if your wanting just a hint of horror and mostly looking to feed on nostalgia.
The action was pretty weak and the sci-fi was almost non existent at times. The few times that special effects did play out full on in this film was worth it. The scene of the pods giving birth to the doubles is both organic and entertaining. Mostly this picture relies on the cast to act out with emotion and later without emotion to convey the thrills across to the audience. I don’t think that it came off quite how the director intended. At times Donald Sutherland looks more like a psycho perv than an emotionally concerned citizen. He definitely didn’t know the term “personal space” because he all but crotch rocks Brook Adams in almost every scene they share. Which is a lot because hey!- I noticed!.
Leonard Nemoy’s character is spot on as a psychiatrist and Jeff Goldblum is almost watchable. This version is almost like watchig the more recent adaptation with Nicole Kidman except you don’t have to endure Nicole. She ruined “Invasion” for me! One of my favorite stories of all time. All in all this film is watchable and I enjoyed it for what it was- cheeky fun and nostalgic nuance. However the best Body Snatcher movie for me is 1993 version on the military base with Gabrielle Anwar.
The Italian Poster For “Intruders”
This supernatural thriller is due out in the U.S. on March 30th 2012, but right now the film is gearing up for it's Italian premier on Jan 27th 2012.
The film tells parallel stories of two families whose lives are disrupted by menacing apparitions: in Spain, a mother tries to protect her son from a faceless stranger, while in Britain, a young girl has terrifying dreams of a demon who becomes a real danger to her and her family.
“House Of Flesh Mannequins” on DVD Feb. 21st
Directed by Domiziano Cristopharo. “House Of Flesh Mannequins” stars Domiziano Arcangeli, Irene A. Hoffman, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, Jerred Berg and Dave Vescio.
This film is not a traditional styled horror. Instead it takes a more subdued and visceral approach that is almost reproduction “film noir” and a lot of obvious influence from the horror genre as experienced through the Italian Godfathers of the industry like Dario Argento and Umberto Lenzi.
An artist obsessed with finding art in life’s taboos. A dark and surreal tale that will meld the macabre with sexuality and edge toward the veil between horror and snuff.

Red Band Trailer For “The Devil Inside” Offers More Bone Breaking Chills
So the new red band trailer for “The Devil Inside” is out and with three times more footage and a hell of a lot more moments of flinching and cringing from intense effects that should be anything but human. This trailer shows “The Devil Inside” for what you can expect to see- a documentary style multi storied bone chilling hellride. This film could possibly be the best exorcism picture of all time! That is saying a lot because I still hold “The Exorcist” dear and consider it an essential for any movie collection regardless of what genre you favor! “The Devil Inside” is due out January 6th 2012.
“In 1989, emergency responders received a 9-1-1 call from Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) confessing that she had brutally killed three people. 20 years later, her daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) seeks to understand the truth about what happened that night. She travels to the Centrino Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Italy where her mother has been locked away to determine if her mother is mentally ill or demonically possessed.
When she recruits two young exorcists (Simon Quarterman and Evan Helmuth) to cure her mom using unconventional methods combining both science and religion, they come face-to-face with pure evil in the form of four powerful demons possessing Maria. Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many.”

“the Amityville Haunting” Trailer
“The Amityville Haunting” is a much familiar and almost tiring trend in the horror genre that has more staying power than a Republican Witch Hunt- The found footage technique! This film however is promoting as if it is an actual found footage experience much like “Apollo 18” found successful. For me personally the found footage is hit or miss, for some reason it jives with some stories and adds to the visual experience. Other times the whole shaky, night vision, experience through the lens approach just seems contrived and a lot of work to enjoy. I have not seen this yet but the trailer has me firmly straddling the fence with this film.
Below is the trailer so judge for yourself. “The Amityville Haunting” hit stores today, Dec. 27th 2011 straight to DVD.
Actual found footage that documents the horrifying experience of a family that moved into the infamous haunted house.
