Can Facebook build the perfect house?

From the Press Release
FlickLaunch, the first movie distribution platform built on Facebook for independent filmmakers, will premiere the horror thriller The Perfect House on October 1, 2011, as a 7-day rental on the film’s Facebook fanpage.
This new platform enables independent filmmakers to market to and access a global audience through Facebook without the prohibitive costs of traditional and outdated distribution. For a $5 “ticket price,” the movie will be viewed in its entirety and in full screen. Rather than go the traditional distribution route, the filmmakers for The Perfect House preferred to partner with FlickLaunch to engage moviegoers with a more scalable distribution model.
“We see a great opportunity to help these filmmakers get their films seen by offering this powerful transactional VOD distribution platform,” remarked Craig Tanner, Co-Founder and CEO of FlickLaunch. “Currently, many independent films are not lucky enough to secure distribution from a major distributor and rarely have a meaningful marketing budget to reach a mass audience. FlickLaunch provides an immediate solution to filmmakers for both of these issues.”
“Partnering with FlickLaunch to be the first new released film on Facebook is something we are extremely excited and proud of,” says Kris Hulbert, writer, producer, and co-director of The Perfect House. “As soon as FlickLaunch announced their video platform during our post-production, I immediately saw we were in a special position, and the value to release our film in this new distribution model was enormous.”
In The Perfect House, newlyweds Mike and Marisol (Will Robertson and Andrea Vahl) are given a tour of their dream home by a perky real estate agent (Monique Parent), and they soon find out their perfect house might just have a foreboding past. The ugly horrors of this house are revealed through three original tales of terror detailing the grim circumstances of the previous occupants. Done as an anthology, each short story in this homage to horror emulates the story and shooting styles of specific time periods in cinematic horror history.

The Perfect House filmmakers plan to go on a 30-city tour. This reality tour will boast free screenings, a must-see tour bus and will showcase the cast and crew. Click here to "demand it" in your town. Go to the movie blog sit for exact dates and listing info.  The Perfect House website.

New Image From "The Hobbit"

First look at Ken Stott as Balin and Graham McTavish as Dwalin in Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”.

Dwarf Lords in their own right, Balin and Dwalin are close relatives of Thorin. Beyond this, these brothers are two of his most loyal and trusted friends. An old warrior, Balin has lived through hard times and fought many battles, yet he harbors doubts about the wisdom of the Quest to retake the Lonely Mountain. Dwalin has no such forebodings – his belief in Thorin’s leadership is unshakeable. A powerful and bruising fighter, with a natural tendency to distrust anyone who is not a Dwarf, particularly anyone who might be an Elf, Dwalin is not someone to cross lightly.

Chiller TV's "Remains" Comic-Con Poster

Chiller presented the Con-exclusive poster for their original adaptation of Steve Niles' terrifying zombie opus, Remains. Drawn by the original series' illustrator Kieron Dwyer, this SDCC-only poster will no doubt unite both the living and the undead at this year's convention.
Based on the IDW Publishing graphic novel written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and illustrated by Kieron Dwyer, Remains is set in a chilling post-apocalyptic Reno, Nevada, and follows the survivors of a bizarre accident that reduced most of the world's population to zombies. The group takes refuge in a vacant casino and fights a losing battle against the undead, who grow steadily stronger, smarter and more aggressive by the minute. Remains is written by John Doolan and directed by Colin Theys; Andrew Gernhard and Zach O'Brien will serve as producers for Synthetic Cinema International.

Tucker & Dale take on Film 4 Frightfest

Tyler Labine (TV’s Reaper), Alan Tudyk (Transformers 3, Dodgeball; TV’s Serenity) Katrina Bowden (TV’s 30 Rock) and Jesse Moss (Final Destination 3) star in the gut-bustingly funny horror comedy TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL, which is coming to cinemas on September 23 and DVD and Blu-ray on September 26.

The film will launch as part of FILM 4 FrightFest in London’s Leicester Square on August 26. FILM 4 FrightFest is the UK’s premier horror festival, described by Guillermo del Toro as “The Woodstock of Gore”.

TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL
is a hilariously gory, good-spirited horror comedy, doing for killer rednecks what Shaun of the Dead did for zombies.

SYNOPSIS:

Tucker (Tudyk) and Dale (Labine) are two good natured, best friends on holiday at their dilapidated mountain cabin. While there, they are mistaken for murderous backwoods rednecks by a group of obnoxious, preppy college kids who are camping in the same woods. When Tucker and Dale save the life of gorgeous student Allison (Bowden) her friends believe she has been kidnapped and set out to rescue her. As the chain of hilarious misunderstandings grows, so does the body count.

TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL has been a hit on the festival circuit, debuting at Sundance, and winning the Midnight Audience Award at SXSW, the Jury Prize for First Feature at Fantasia, the Best Director award at Fantaspoa, and the Best Motion Picture Award at Sitges. TUCKER & DALE VS EVIL was written by Eli Craig and Morgan Jurgenson and is directed by Eli Craig.

Like Totally Chillerama!

Image Entertainment has obtained the distribution rights to horror anthology film "Chillerama",  dubbed the "ultimate midnight movie." They tease a theatrical and potential "road show" release in early fall (much like what Kevin Smith is doing with Red State), with VOD and DVD targeted for the end of the year. The promo poster just screams 80's. Titles like "Wadzilla," "I Was A Teenage Werebear," The Diary of Anne Frankenstein," and "Zom-B-Movie," Chillerama features appearances by Joel David Moore (Avatar, Hatchet), Lin Shaye (Insidious), Ray Wise (X-Men: First Class), Kane Hodder (Hatchet and Hatchet II), Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, Sharktopus). "Chillerama" will entertain horror fans from all walks of bad taste and low budget life!

Here is the film set up!
It's the closing night at the last drive-in theater in America and Cecil B. Kaufman (Richard Riehle, Bridesmaids, Hatchet) has planned the ultimate marathon of lost film prints to unleash upon his faithful cinephile patrons. Four films so rare that they have never been exhibited publicly on American soil until this very night! What could possibly go wrong?

Civil War Era Zombies!

I currently live in one of the key battleground states of the Civil War- Kentucky! Central Kentucky to be exact. There are numerous monuments to fallen soldiers, countless Civil War era mansions, and tons of plaques and stones marking famous plantations and historical homes slapped on most streets in these old and haunting small but vibrant cities and villages. Anyway my point all be it trivial is that FINALLY THERE IS A ZOMBIE MOVIE TO DEVOUR THE FUCK OUT OF IT! ...
Synopsis
How does a man deal with the loss of everything meaningful in his life, and the loss of mankind's humanity amongst chaos and despair? Set in 1870's Tennessee, Exit Humanity is the legend of Edward Young's horrific and dramatic journey through an unexplainable outbreak of the walking dead to lay to rest the most important thing in his life, his son's ashes. The bleak post-Civil War era backdrop highlights the severe divide that the United States was facing, the disasters that arise when man tries to play God, and the true loss of hope that so many felt during this period in history.
Exit Humanity blends live action and classical animation to explore how when in situations of severe horror, we must find hope through the very fears that drive us. Starring horror icons Bill Moseley (Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo), Stephen McHattie (The Watchmen, 300), introducing new horror hero Mark Gibson, and Narrated by Brian Cox (Braveheart, The Bourne Identity), Exit Humanity is a zombie saga that tells the tale of the ultimate battle of good vs. evil.

New Poster For "The Thing" Prequel

Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty.  It is also home to an isolated outpost where a discovery full of scientific possibility becomes a mission of survival when an alien is unearthed by a crew of international scientists.  The shape-shifting creature, accidentally unleashed at this marooned colony, has the ability to turn itself into a perfect replica of any living being.  It can look just like you or me, but inside, it remains inhuman.  In the thriller “The Thing”, paranoia spreads like an epidemic among a group of researchers as they’re infected, one by one, by a mystery from another planet.
Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime.  Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago.  But it is about to wake up.
When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew’s pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time.  And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.
The Thing serves as a prelude to John Carpenter’s classic 1982 film of the same name.  Directed by Matthijs van Heijningen, the thriller is produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman (Dawn of the Dead).

Dario Argento's "Dracula 3D" Photos

TRANSYLVANIA, 1893. One night in the woods adjacent to Passo Borgo, at the foot of the Carpazi mountains, a couple of young lovers, Tania and Milos, secretly meet. On her way home, Tania is chased and overcome by a "dark shadow" that kills her. In those days Jonathan Harker, a young librarian, arrives at the village hired by Count Dracula, a nobleman from the area. Tania's body mysteriously disappears from the cemetery. In the meantime Harker, before going to Count Dracula's castle, takes the opportunity to visit Lucy Kisslinger, his wife Mina's best friend as well as the daughter of the local mayor.
Upon arriving at the castle, Harker is greeted by Tania, brought back to life from the dead and made vampire, who tries from the very beginning to seduce him; however they are interrupted by Dracula's entrance welcoming Harker. The following night Tania tries again to bite Harker, she is close to his neck when she is stopped by the count who gets the upper hand and it is he himself who bites Harker's neck, however allowing him to live. The following day, weakened but still conscious Harker attempts to escape, but as soon as he is outside the castle a large wolf with a white lock assaults and savagely kills him. Meanwhile, Mina, Harker's wife, arrives in the village and is guest for a few days at the home of her dearest friend Lucy Kisslinger, who will also be bitten and vampirized. The day after, Mina, worried about her husband, goes to Count Dracula's castle. Their encounter makes her forget the reason for her presence there. She is completely under the count's influence; the count had orchestrated the events leading up to their encounter; in fact Mina looks exactly like his beloved Dolinger, who died some centuries ago. Upon her return to the Kisslinger house, Mina learns of the death of her dear friend Lucy. The sequence of such strange and dramatic events summons the aid of Van Helsing, vampire expert of the techniques used to eliminate them. Van Helsing, aware of the circumstances decides to act swiftly and prepares the tools needed to combat vampires. He directs himself to the center of evil, Count Dracula's castle. Meanwhile Dracula, in the village, kills the inhabitants who rescinded their pact, while Van Helsing, inside the castle, is able to definitively eliminate Tania. Dracula, intent on his desire to reunite with his beloved wife, leads Mina, completely hypnotized, to the castle where Van Helsing is waiting. He has decided to engage in a deadly fight with his evil foe. During the struggle Van Helsing loses his gun with the silver bullet and Mina, still under Dracula's spell, gathers it and tries to aid Dracula, but she misses the target and involuntarily kills him. The special silver bullet transforms Dracula into ashes; but his spirit lifts the ashes into the air and uniting, they shape into a large bat with a mocking grin...
