Press release:
Gunpowder & Sky, the global content studio, announced today that they have sold the UK rights to Grammy-Award winning Director Jonas Åkerlund’s (Madonna’s “Ray of Light” video and “The Confessions Tour”, Paul McCartney’s “Live Kisses”, SpunLords of Chaos to Arrow Films, ahead of the film’s UK premiere at the BFI London Film Festival next week. Åkerlund directed and wrote the screenplay which is based on the biography of the same name by Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind. The film stars Rory Culkin, Emory Cohen, Jack Kilmer and Sky Ferreira, alongside Valter Skarsgård and Jon Øigarden.
Lords of Chaos tells the true story of True Norwegian Black Metal and its most notorious practitioners – a group of young men with a flair for publicity, church-burning and murder: MAYHEM. Horror Rocker Characula Unleashes Infectious New Single ‘Dead Light District Dolls’

DDD_final_artworkLet the old schoolers pull out their scratched 45s of "Monster Mash” and tapes and CDs of Michael Jackson's "Thriller.” This Halloween the cool kids know where the ghoulish musical fun is: with SoCal horror rocker Characula (www.characula.com), celebrating her favorite season with the release of her eerie but super-fun new single "Dead Light District Dolls!”

The creepishly cool track, now available on iTunes, Amazon, and other digital retailers, is currently impacting Triple AAA Radio in the U.S.  It comes off her upcoming debut album produced by Dito Godwin (No Doubt, Great White, KISS, Motley Crue).  The vinyl edition will have eight tracks—one for each leg of a spider!

As October 31 inches closer, Characula will emerge from the shadows Saturday, October 19 to perform at halftime of a roller derby game of the L.A. Derby Dolls, Southern California's premiere all-female roller derby league. The game will feature a Halloween costume contest, with the winner announced at halftime.
Characula won't be staying in the crypt long after Halloween. Earlier this year, she received her first ever Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) nomination for a blistering cover of Bad Company's "Ready For Love,” and a second nomination for the ghoulish song "Mummy Dance.”   "Mummy Dance” and its chilling music video are scheduled for release this Halloween!

She'll find out who wins at the upcoming 2013 event, set for Thursday, November 21 at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood.

Cheri Anaclerio, aka Characula, unleashes the demons in her powerhouse imagination to create, in a tip of the blood-dripped cap to Frank Zappa, blistering music about monsters, sex and rock 'n roll.

An engineer by trade, Characula's inner truth has been coming to light since the fall of 2012. Before Halloween and for a few weeks after last year, her infectiously ghoulish single "Mummy Dance” snagged airplay on numerous Top 40 stations across the country. Her singles are being promoted by Howie Rosen of Howard Rosen Promotion, Inc. (www.howiewood.com).

She is currently wrapping up a video for "Mummy Dance” video and putting the final nails in her debut album with renowned rock producer Dito Godwin (No Doubt, Great White, members of KISS, Motley Crue). The album is slated for a Halloween 2013 release.

Slayer Guitarist Dead

jeff hannemanSlayer lead guitarist and founding band member Jeff Hanneman dead at 49 of liver failure. "Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home," the band's longtime publicist said in a statement. "Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure."

Hanneman co-founded the band with Kerry King in 81’. The band broke out of the scene with a stellar rise thanks to the 1986 “Reign In Blood”.  I find this news very sad. It was my love for Slayer and their t-shirts that got me labeled as a Satanist and devil worshiper in junior high school, which carried over into the early part of my High School year before coming out of the closet. My salvation was their music. The darkness and aggression allowed me to find strength to get through the bullshit that we all somehow have to deal with in a fucked absurd construct that we call the education system.

Jeff HannemanMy fave albums of course were the first three. Reign In Blood, South Of Heaven, and Seasons In The Abyss. I went through four copies of South Of Heaven. Tape decks were brutal on music back then. So here are my fave Slayer songs….

Piece By Piece- Alter Of Sacrifice -Spill The Blood- Hell Awaits- Read Between the Lies- Dead Skin Mask -Behind the Crooked Cross- Black Magic -Seasons In the Abyss- World Painted Blood -War Ensemble -God Hates Us All

Kesha New Single, New EP

Ke$ha has found a chart-topping formula — combine killer beats with lyrics about super-fun parties and hot pants. And her latest single, "We R Who We R," certainly fits that mold.
The track, the first single off her November 22 release Cannibal, hit the Internet on Thursday (October 14). It's another uber-fun tune about how awesome it is to dance the night away, with Ke$ha singing on the chorus: "Tonight we're going hard/ Just like the world is ours/ We're tearing it apart/ You know we're superstars/ we are who we are."
While the song doesn't veer much from prior club bangers like "Tik Tok" and "Take It Off," the singer admits that "We R" is in part inspired by the recent rash of suicides among gay youth. "I wanted to inspire people to be themselves," she told EW.com. "It's a celebration of any sort of quirks or eccentricities."
In January, Ke$ha released her debut album Animal and it went straight to the top of the charts. Cannibal — a nine-song set that features collaborations with Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh — is set to be released both on its own and as a bundle with Animal.
"I don't want to go away!" she said. "I feel like I'm creating this hopefully very youthful and irreverent movement of the kids, of, like, adolescence. I feel like the parents don't get it, but the kids get it. And they deserve to have more good, positive music ... It's fun as sh--! So I wanted to give [my fans] that."
The Seventeen cover girl also tweeted a message to her fans about the tune: "WE R WHO WE R! on the radio today you guys like??? dancin liiiiike were dumbbbb we be forever younggggg."
