"The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes" Plot Details

Dimension Films and Miramax today announced the production of The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes -- the "official" sequel. This has nothing to do with "The Amityville Tapes" or "Amityville The Legacy".

" 'The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes' showcases the events after the time of the original 'The Amityville Horror' book and movie through found footage dating back to 1976. An ambitious female television news intern, on the verge of breaking the most famous haunted house case in the world, leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the bizarre events that will come to be known as The Amityville Horror ... only to unwittingly open a door to the unreal that she may never be able to close."

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR: THE LOST TAPES is being produced by Jason Blum, Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands.

New Behind The Scene Shots For "The Locals"

The Locals is a “found footage movie” that takes place in 1987. It depicts a group of low budget filmmakers (Matthew Landon, Devanny Pinn, Greg Duke and Angelina Armani) who head to the mountains to film a slasher movie called “Splatter Mountain.” Accompanying them are three of their actors, including an aging, coke addicted former centerfold (Tawny Amber Young), a bubbly, ditzy porn queen who is out of work due to the Traci Lords scandal (Angie Savage) and a pretentious, Julliard trained actor mortified by his co-stars and the conditions he is working under (Brandon Slagle). An uptight reporter (David Carter –T) joins the group at the last minute to cover the production for a nationally famous horror magazine.  As the group heads deep in the mountains, they are unaware that they are being stalked by a feral family of cannibals (Larry Laverty, Erik Preston, Rachel Grubbs and Daniel Murawka) who have been picking off passersby unfortunate enough to have wandered into their territory for decades. The story is told through the lenses of two video cameras and three VHS cassette tapes that are found years later. The film takes the modern framework of the found footage genre and places it firmly into the 80s, capturing the distinct look, style and vibe of that era. The first half the movie is a fun, hilarious, raunchy comedy where inept filmmakers and actors take to the woods to shoot a ‘shot-on-video’ splatter movie. But it shifts gears and becomes a dark, horrific roller-coaster ride as the group finds itself systematically butchered by a cannibal family who also reside in those woods. The special effects by Jacob Gilman and Angie Johnson are extreme and explicit in the film’s portrayal of human dismemberment and cannibalism. Danny Lopes, Bree Essrig, Kelly Marchand and Caroline Posada also star in the film as an all-girl rock band (and their manager) who accidently find themselves caught up in the unfolding carnage.

Set in 1987, and told through the lens of two VHS camcorders,“The Locals” is a ferocious and merciless tale of the devastation of a group of young filmmakers who venture into the central California wilderness to film a shot on video slasher movie and soon find themselves systematically crippled, butchered and devoured by a family of feral cannibals who live in the woods nearby.

H.P. Lovecraft's "The Festival" Premieres May 26th @ Pelham Picture House in NY

I love H.P. Lovecrafts work. His demonic vision has scared and delighted me since I was thirteen and picked up a copy of'The Horror In The Museum' at my school library. Our school had an eclectic selection of occult fiction and non-fiction material. It was before the 'book burning censorship of the early 90's that took place in public school systems. Anyway next to actually reading Necronomicon itself H.P.'s stuff was dead scary! I love it ...Anyway now here is the tidbit about the movie poster up top!

From (Fangoria):

Writer/director Richard Terrasi is getting ready for the premiere of his fright film THE FESTIVAL later this month, and gave us some info about the project. Adapted from H.P. Lovecraft’s story of the same title, it’s his second feature following 2007’s AM I EVIL.
“It’s about a struggling author named Charles Keene [played by Kevin Pinassi] who travels from New York City to meet with his fiancée’s grandparents for a traditional festival held once a year in a small New England town,” Terrasi tells Fango. “Upon arrival, he discovers that something very strange is going on with the village and its residents. As Charles discovers more about the place, he learns that there is much more to this event than your normal small-town festival, and has to find a way to escape before his part in it is revealed.” The cast also includes Victoria Guthrie, Bill Kozy, Bob Lasprogato and Bonnie Hauser.

A fan of horror cinema from the ’70s and ’80s, Terrasi asserts that his brand of screen terror is not watered down. “I’m not looking to make cheesy or campy movies!” he says. “That’s what’s lacking with many horror films today. THE FESTIVAL is a very dark film driven by visuals, mood and lots of tension.” And he has this promise for fans of the eldritch author: “Those of you familiar with H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos of otherworldly things that existed before man and co-exist with us through other dimensions—who know Cthulhu, the Necronomicon and the mad Arab Abdul Alhazred—will be happy with this one!”
THE FESTIVAL will premiere Thursday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Pelham, NY’s Pelham Picture House (175 Wolf Lane). The screening is open to the public; general admission is $11 ($6 for members of the Picture House) and Terrasi will be on hand to introduce the movie. See THE FESTIVAL’s trailer below, and find out more about Terrasi’s Dark Vision Films at its official website and Facebook page.

Jodorowsky's "Dune" Documentary @ Cannes 2011

A documentary about a legendary film makers attempt to bring to life the iconic sci-fi saga known as "Dune". The film never happened thought at least not this film ....The documentary has been making its way around the world and a promo was recently showcased at Cannes Festival ...
Press Release as posted by (Twitch)
Production underway on JODOROWSKY'S DUNE
It was announced today that L.A. based Snowfort Pictures, Camera One of France and Koch Media of Germany have begun production on Frank Pavich's sci-fi documentary JODOROWSKY'S DUNE. Shooting has wrapped in France, Switzerland and the U.K. with filming to continue this summer in the United States. Picture will be completed by late fall.
The documentary covers cult film director Alejandro Jodorowsky and his 1974 attempt to create a big-screen adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel, DUNE. While the ambitious production collapsed after two years, Jodorowsky's team of then relatively unknown concept artists continued exploring the themes and styles started on the project and ended up changing modern science fiction forever: H.R. Giger went on to Ridley Scott's masterpiece ALIEN, Dan O'Bannon wrote ALIEN and TOTAL RECALL, Jean "Moebius" Giraud created artwork and futuristic worlds for THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, TRON, and THE FIFTH ELEMENT and Chris Foss would go on to work on ALIEN and SUPERMAN.
Jodorowsky, whose films SANTE SANGRE, EL TOPO and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN have recently been released on Blu-Ray in the U.S. and who can currently be seen acting in Kamen Kalev's THE ISLAND which screens in the Director's Fortnight, is excited to share his vision of what might have been, "Failure simply makes you change your way. And I hope, in this picture, the audience will be able to see what I did. It's an incredible world."
Director/Producer Pavich researched JODOROWSKY'S DUNE with producer Stephen Scarlata. The two previously worked together on the cult-underground music documentary N.Y.H.C. Pavich also co-produced DIE MOMMIE DIE (Special Jury Prize - Sundance 2003) before concentrating on television production. Scarlata has mainly focused on feature screenplays. The film is being produced by Travis Stevens of Snowfort Pictures (A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE), executive produced by Donald Rosenfeld, who has Terrence Malick's THE TREE OF LIFE in competition at the festival and co-produced with Michel Seydoux of Camera One, who have Alain Cavalier's PATER screening in competition.
Stevens in announcing the production said: "This is a rare, intimate look at the creative process of one of history's most mind-blowing filmmakers. The access he afforded us was incredible. We're excited to be partnered with Camera-One and Koch Media in order to share it with the world."
Moritz Peters of Koch Media adds: "Fans of Jodorowsky, Giger, O'Bannon and the rest of the artists will now have a chance to see how they approach their work. We're avid supporters of adventurous sci-fi films, and happy to be co-producing one that covers such a fantastic subject."
With interviews completed with Alejandro Jodorowsky, H.R. Giger, Dan Foss, Michel Seydoux, and the surviving original team, the production heads to the U.S. to conduct interviews with industry executives, filmmakers and film critics to put the film into perspective.
Adds Pavich, "I am incredibly grateful that we are the ones who are getting to tell the story of this never-realized film from one of the world's greatest film directors. We hope to be able to impart to the audience a taste of what Jodorowsky's version of Dune might have been like."

2010's "Monsters" was a big hit with audiences everywhere.  I haven't seen it yet but it is on my list! : ) I have read alot about it and seen many many clips and teasers for the film and like "District 9" it seems pretty tight as a strong story and sci-fi film. I just prefer to see most of my movies in my home. There are few that garner my respect enough to go out to a theatre to sit and watch them. This is a definite "to get" dvd for my shelves. As soon as finished with the move I plan to get several films for my collection. Any way I ramble...

Here is the news ! A U.K based production outfit, known as Vertigo Films, has declaired that "Monsters 2" is a sure thing and the company has hired Brent Bonacorso and Jesse Atlas to direct. The story will continue  by introducing a teacher living in a protected walled city, who has to go into the infected zone to find his long-lost brother, a former military man who is now a Col. Kurtz-esque figure.

"Harker" Will Attempt To Rewrite Dracula

Harker will be produced by Appian Way partners Leonardo DiCaprio (who is not planning to act) and Jennifer Davisson Killoran in a co-production with Mad Hatter Entertainment.
To be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who recently told Audillos.com "Basically we intend to make a film based on Stoker's Dracula, and I have to pay respect to the source material. That means you can save all those romantic vampire conventions for the thirteen-year-old girls. My Dracula will demonstrate who is boss and kick the asses of other vampires."

Warner Bros. is behind the project 100%. More on this soon!

Awesome Look At David Tennant As Peter Vincent

The Darkside of "Pan"

Aaron Eckhart and AnnaSophia Robb have joined the cast of Pan, which puts a dark twist on the classic Peter Pan tale by J.M. Barrie.

Aaron Eckhart and AnnaSophia Robb will portray Hook and Wendy, although they are not the same characters from the storybook. Hook is actually a modern-day detective, tormented by a kidnapper. Wendy is the lone survivor of this kidnapper, who leaves an asylum to help Hook track him down.

Ben Hibon is directing from a screenplay by Benjamin Magid, which is based off characters from the J.M. Barrie Peter Pan story. Production is scheduled for an October start in Eastern Europe.

Pan comes to theaters in 2012

New "Conan The Barbarian" Poster

A new poster for "Conan" has been released. I am eager to see how this film does with todays crowd. I loved it as a child and was in awe of that fantasy - barbarian world. I wish they would have forgone the 3D emphasis though and just made the best kick ass Conan movie ever made! I will have to wait and see on that. I do watch "Game of Thrones" and although Jason Mamoa's character has had limited and yet ample exposure, mostly he just fucks and stares dark and cannibalistic. He is a hot actor and "Conan" can only raise his heat and exposure...unfortunately I don't see this one going for the R rating that Arnold's "Conan" had. Who knows!

The film will see Conan head out to avenge the death of his father and killing his people,

India's "Ragini MMS" Pushes Indian Censorship

Ragini MMS is a sensuous paranormal film, shot as if in real time!

The quintessential couple, Ragini and Uday, set out to have a dirty weekend at a friend's farmhouse on the outskirts of Mumbai.

The weekend getaway quickly changes gears as they find themselves in a house that has been rigged with cameras in Bigg Boss style.

The cameras that were meant to capture love-making are witness to something that is beyond the realm of human understanding...something metaphysical....

Within the confines of this house, Ragini and Uday are now at the mercy of an unexplainable paranormal force.

With sundown approaching, what will the new entrants of the house do?

Positively, among the most keenly awaited films of the season, Ragini MMS, a hybrid of fact and fiction, is thrilling voyeurism from the producers of Love Sex Aur Dhokha.

The scariest date movie, buffering in Theatres on Friday the 13th May!

The film has caused a frenzy among Indian censors who are known to be anal when it comes to film content. Reportedly they have demanded that 3 scenes be cut from the paranormal joint before receiving approval. One scene has a reference to sexual enhancement drugs, not the blue pill but the aphrodisiac  kind, another tends to deal with the happy endings of oral sex and the final scene is said to use lewd speak referring to the male and female junk. PG shit by American standards but not in India!
