New McG Netflix Film "Rim Of The World" In Production

McG is in production for his new Netflix film "Rim Of The World". Deadline reports the film will star Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., King Bach, Alessio Scalzotto, Lynn Collins, Annabeth Gish, and Michael Beach. Along with co-stars Tony Cavalero, musician/entertainer Rudy Mancuso, Carl McDowell, Chris Wylde, David Theune, Punam Patel, and Jason Rogel.

Four misfit teenagers who become unlikely allies when their summer camp experience is cut short by an alien invasion. In this epic adventure film, the youths must overcome their fears, tackle insecurities and learn to work as a team while they attempt to save the world.

My Review Of "Minutes To Midnight"

"Minutes To Midnight" is directed by Christopher Ray from a script co-written with Victoria Dadi. The film has some names attached to it, William Baldwin, Richard Grieco, Bill Moseley, Dominique Swain star alongside John Hannigan, Christopher Judge, Viva Bianca, and  Mercy Malick....and many more. The talent listed is pretty impressive and worthy for a microbudget indie project like this.

What happens when a night of fun turns into a night of horror?  Seven friends and a mysterious backpacker converge at a desolate ski lodge in the mountains and as the clock begins the countdown to the New Year, they discover that the end of the old year may be the end of all their years as they are systematically hunted down by ruthless masked men with a deadly agenda.

Ray and Dadi'so story is a heavy, well drawn out slasher filled backwoods horror that takes all the traditional but cool elements of the genre and lets loose the beast. Although it lacks originality, "Minutes To Midnight" stitches together these tropes seemless and purposefully. Nothing feels forced or too much.

I was impressed with how well the cast delivered their characters with authenticity. Fully developed, brought to life without seeming coerced or over-the-top. Aside from Bill Moseley, who always rocks, it is the lesser known,  indie 20-somethings that stand out as seasoned performers. Okay there are moments that seem to fall flat but not enough to hurt the overall energy of the movie.

The real star of this one is the special effects and creature design. The psychopaths offer some dominant and chilling horror. Angus being the real nightmare presence that pretty much guarantees sequels for "Minutes To Midnight". Plus there is tons of gore, guts and a hefty body count. The middle kinda lags with most of the drama and story taking center stage and only two kills, but the third act goes full throttle and gives good death!

Overall "Minutes To Midnight" is a nice indie slasher film that is worth watching and entertaining enough to add the collection. I plan to put this one in my stacks, earmarked for a horror watch, both Halloween and New Years. Oh and the cinematography is pretty awesome as well-atmospheric, eerie and quality work. (4/5)

My Review Of "The Jurassic Dead"

Written by Milko Davis and Michele Pacitto. Directed by Davis and Thomas Martwick.
Starring Matt Block, Cooper Elliott, Ben Johnson, Mia Kloster, Nicole Goeke, Shale LA Page, Wes Clark and Ruselis Aumeen Perry Stick.

A hard-boiled hotshot militia unit, led by "Cuchilla" Vasquez (Raquel Pennington - UFC Top-Ranked Contender, "The Ultimate Fighter"), Duque Wayne (Andy Haman - World-Renowned Pro Body Builder, USA National Freestyle Wrestling Champion) and "Stick" Howard (Ruselis Aumeen Perry - "American Ninja Warrior") must team up with a group of tech-nerd millennials after the United States is struck by a master-planned EMP asteroid attack. Stranded in the desert, the two disparate groups end up trapped inside the labyrinth compound of mad jilted scientist and political terrorist Dr. Wojick Borge. There they realize this madman is behind it all and more, and they scramble to stop the rest of his nefarious plan to toxify the world.

Meanwhile, the ultimate bio-engineered zombie dinosaur killing machine - the Z/Rex - is hunting them down. The commandos and the millennials ultimately turn on each other, and unearthly pandemonium ensues. The blood-thirsty predator picks them off one by one, shredding and infecting them as they struggle for their very survival against the unimaginable menace.

"The Jurassic Dead" story is uber-contrived, forcing a total submition of the audience to fancy and absurdities. It is a premise that is insanely over the top with everything thrown in but the kitchen sink. The concepts are, individually, cool - although not so original- however they are a bit much when thrown together.

The cast offer a mix bag of two diminsional caricatures, with a couple notable exceptions. Very little comes off as convincing with delivery. Most of the drama is melodramatic in the least flattering way- again with a few notable exceptions.

As for the special effects, personally I found just as much that worked for "The Jurassic Dead" as I found wrong. First, kudos to FX department for doing practical creature efeects. It was a nice design, it worked on camera with one obvious exception, the T-Rex was too small. The CGI was at times, spot-on, some scenes came off a bit 1990, but all in all,  Syfy and The Asylum worthy material.

Overall, "The Jurassic Dead" is a great film, the acting and premise is slightly rough to sit through, but there are a few cool, entertaining moments. The big winner for this one is the musical score, and sound track. Awesome work. If you are a fan of these types of microbudget creature features then it will be a decent watch, if not just go into "The Jurassic Dead" for warned. (2/5)

My Review Of "Darkness Reigns"

"Darkness Reigns" is written and directed by Andrew P. Jones. The film is a paranormal horror that plays heavy on found footage anthems with some moments of traditional third person scenes. It stars Zachary Mooren, Linara Washington, Casper Van Dien, and Peter Mayer.

"Darkness Reigns" about a group of filmmakers shooting a movie in a reportedly haunted hotel that are faced with an unfathomable demonic force that possesses and attacks both the crew and the film’s star, Casper Van Dien. Will the film’s director be able to escape with the paranormal proof he has captured, or will he succumb to the hellish plans of the demon who has surfaced?

The film's premise, although not so original, is a cool way to tell this paranormal horror about a film crew telling a story about a paranormal horror. The writing does a decent job creating this traditional styled nightmare, obvious wholes and notable plausibility not withstanding. Something you come to expect in most found footage stuff. It manages to work as well as balancing on a playground seesaw, some of it does good to come alive and other moments fall dead. Pun intended.

The cast offer a mix bag of believability and bland hollowness, with a few actors staying on point and giving great, believable performances as their characters. Some scenes feel contrived,  while other- limited in dialog- flow smoothly and convincingly. Sadly the more dialog heavy,  drama rich moments that,  at times,  fall short tend to be the times we get the much anticipated deaths.

Special effects and creature effects stick with the typical, lesser budget, styles paranormal horror leans on. It works on almost all levels. The ghostie stuff is cool and melds effortlessly when added and do very little to weaken the overall intentions of both Director and FX department. One of the pluses for "Darkness Reigns". Creature concept was nicely done, reminded me of stuff from "Silent Hill" and "Dead Space". I did feel the demon was more Buffy and less horror feature, creating a flat tone to its scenes.

Overall, "Darkness Reigns" was a well done film that had plenty, including Casper Van Dien, going for it, even with the parts that went wrong. It won't appeal to some, but I enjoyed this one. It isn't a big action packed nightmare wonderland, but "Darkness Reigns" does offer a slow burn, paranormal story with some fun effects. Atleast worth everyone checking out once. (3/5 stars)

Crowd Funding Kicks Off For "Merican Wasteland"

A crowd funding campaign has kicked off for indie action-horror- comedy "Merican Wasteland". The campaign is set up over on Kickstarter. From the site:

Our story centers around a group of American descendants, Mortimer Killjoy, Trixie Dangerous, and Omaho Conradical, a group who have  survived to adulthood in the ‘Merican Wasteland, unaware of the hellscape they live in. To them, it’s just their home. Our history is the stuff of their legends. These myths have taught them how to stay alive, and set them in their ways. That is, until they take a bounty to help the settlement of Shantyton with their monster problem. This time they want to make a real go at being heroes, and helping people. Can these characters find out what the real American Spirit is all about?
At it’s core ‘Merican Wasteland is a Horror-Comedy. We wanted to make something that was inspired by both the Evil Dead franchise and years of playing post-apocalyptic games. We wanted the characters to feel like they’re out of a cartoon, but the world around them is gruesome and terrifying. The result is a show that’s going to be a whole lot of fun.

Guerrilla Filmmaking Heads To The Hills With "The Claire Wizard Thesis"

In 1999, The Blair Witch Project was released and went on to gross almost 250 million dollars worldwide on a mere $60,000 budget (IMDB).  Now, almost 20 years later, writer, director, actor, producer, editor and self-proclaimed “hit maker” Jacob Lewis teams with TERROR FILMS to bring you the laziest excuse for a found footage film you will ever bear witness too. We bring you THE CLAIRE WIZARD THESIS!

The brainchild of Australian based actor and writer Ishak Issa, THE CLAIRE WIZARD THESIS is a comedy horror spoof. The film follows a group of actors and crew into the Australian outback, led by aspiring filmmaker and ego-maniac Jacob Lewis.
Lewis’ plan is to make his own version of the 1999 hit, with dreams of becoming the next big Hollywood director. There is only one problem - he has no idea what he’s doing and neither does any of the cast or crew.

The film was nominated for several awards. THE CLAIRE WiZARD THESIS was nominated for a Jury Award for “Best Screenplay,” as well as “Best Editing” and “Best Actor (Alex Dona).” The film went onto win the Jury Award for “Best Foreign Feature” at the Macabre Faire Film Festival.  Jacob Lewis claims the film was also accepted into Sundance, TIFF, Berlin, Cannes, Tribeca and the SXSW Film Festivals?

However, TERROR FILMS was unable to verify these claims. Found footage director Lewis has stated: “as I’m sure my cast and crew would agree, I’m a genius and I expect The Claire Wizard Thesis will be both a financial and critical hit. I look forward to seeing my 100% Fresh Tomatometer Score on Rotten Tomatoes!”

Although a difficult decision due to Lewis’ glowing yet grossly misguided hype of the film's pre-ordained success,TERROR FILMS opted to forego a 4000 screen theatrical release. Instead, the film will release across digital platforms on June 29th, 2018. The film will become available on:Amazon Prime, iTunes, VUDU and Tubi TV in multiple countries. This release will be followed by another on the Australian based platform OZFlix with additional platforms and a DVD release set for a later date.

Female Led Revenge Film, "Streets of Vengeance", Gets Release Date

80s-styled feminist revenge film, Streets of Vengeance, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD. The highly anticipated second film from the filmmaking team of Paul Ragsdale and Angelica De Alba (A&P Productions) is making its way to Blu-ray and DVD in an all new special edition released by Slasher Video on July 24th! The film, written and directed by Ragsdale and De Alba, stars Delawna McKinney (Rough Cut), Anthony Iava To’omata (Cinco De Mayo), and features legendary adult film and B movie icon Ginger Lynn Allen (31).

“What do you get when you throw an ’80s revenge thriller, a giallo, The Warriors and USA’s Up All Night with a dash of social commentary into a blender? You get Streets of Vengeance.” — PopHorror.com

Streets of Vengeance follows Mila Lynn, the adult film industry’s hottest young star, as she enters retirement. Before she can start her new life, she is brutally attacked by a murderous cult known as The Sword. After barely escaping with her life, Mila puts a group of badass girls together and hits the streets to get revenge!

Taking inspiration from films like Savage StreetsAvenging AngelNew York Ripper and even adult films from the 1980s such as New Wave HookersStreets of Vengeance blends ’80s slasher aesthetics with social commentary. Billed as a feminist female revenge movie, Streets of Vengeance tackles issues of misogyny, violence against women, and rape culture with a satiric attitude.

"Although the film deals with a serious subject matter, we really wanted the audience to have fun watching the movie. It’s over the top, it’s exciting, but it’s also grounded in reality. Underneath the neon lights, hot babes and bloody gore, there is a real message of female empowerment,” noted co-writer/co-director Angelica De Alba on the feminist aspects of the movie.

Featuring cameos by adult film performers such as Alexis Amore, Sophie Dee and alternative adult film entrepreneur, Joanna Angel. The film also contains a special guest appearance by the legendary Ginger Lynn Allen, in her best acting performances in years.

Made for only $3,500, Streets of Vengeance is a true triumph of DIY, low budget filmmaking. Armed with an incredible synth soundtrack composed by Vestron Vulture, and captured thru a neon-soaked lens by award winning cinematographer Dan Zampa, filmmakers Paul Ragsdale and Angelica De Alba have crafted a film that far exceeds its meager budget.

This huge release will be packed with special features including a feature length “Making of” documentary with interviews from the cast and crew and never before seen footage.

Streets of Vengeance hits the streets this summer on July 24 2018, from Slasher Video and Olive Films!
