From Rickey Russell Writings: Demon In The Mist & Depressions Of The Soul Now Available
Born in the south, and raised from modest means, Rickey Russell has gained a strong concept and understanding of the darkness. Living with Schizotypal Disorder, writing is my way to connect and express the world around me by focusing on the one thing that I truly feel connected to-Horror! I wrote my collection of poetry as a way to release the darkness that held me for so long. Depressions Of The Soul is that collection that I have chosen to share with others. They were written during a time of emotional chaos and despair.
Since learning to cope with mental disorder and refusing to let it imprison me, I have also found comfort in running a Horror blog as well as expanding my love for writing into horror fiction. Demon In The Mist is my first novel. The story came to me during a particularly heavy fog that seemed to swallow the entire mountain community I called home. I just kept imagining a malevolent creature- a demonic monster of sorts that lurked within it-stalking me. Where did it come from?-what forces would it be driven by? One thing led to another and The Ghost Walker Tale is the resulting vision-in it’s entirety.
Demon In The Mist, my first novel. It is a story of demons, magic, relationships and enlightenment. The story is set in the Appalachians. You can find the book at Lulu, Createspace and Amazon Kindle store. The Createspace copy is in Trade Paper with an alternative book cover. The Lulu has the original book cover with original artwork by Rickey Russell.
When Karen Ison learns of the disappearance of her neighbors she searches for answers. With the help of a stranger she soon embarks on a journey that will lead her into a world of legend and magic.

Demon In The Mist On Kindle
Demon In The Mist now available on Kindle!
In a small cave atop Black Mountain, in the foothills of Kentucky, a demon had been born. It tore into this realm through fire and blood. Conjured by things it found repulsive and crude. The demon had been released, and now everyone would feel the suffering and pain that it felt in birth. It hated this place instantly, and everything held within it. The smells and sounds and the light were torture and pain to its very existence, and that made it angry. The only thing that gave it comfort from its pain was a liquid that seemed to sing out to it, and flow freely in this organic world of abominations called Man.

The Provoking Proclivities Of The Paranormal Investigator: My Interview With Actress Jami Tennille
Jami Tennille knew from childhood that she wanted to be an actress. As did many young girls, she too performed fictional acceptance speeches in the bathroom mirror, solidifying that firm belief of one day making movies and that it was more than a passion-It was her destiny. Whether or not the actress has her heart set on being a solid “horror maven” is still to be determined. Aside from the upcoming role in “Provoked” Jami also has the film “Almost Human” currently in post-production. That project plays heavily on a sc-fi vision of horror that puts me in mind of classic creature feature’s such as “The Thing” and “The Hidden”. I recently had the opportunity to ask Jami Tennille a few questions about her upcoming role in the film “Provoked”, where we discuss among other things, her experience filming in the Lizzie Borden house.
In “Provoked”, a paranormal thriller by Jordan Pacheco, Jami Tennille plays the sagacious “Kristina”. A character that holds some reservations, toward crossing the line, when dealing with matters of a paranormal nature. In the film Tennille’s character is an investigator who faces paranormal research with a cautious respectfulness. The character is also very strong and matter-of-fact in her proclivities. The character of “Kristina” should prove a very vibrant dynamic against the more abrasive character of “Taylor” played by Sean Carmicheal, a fellow team member that Tennille proclaims as being despised by “Katrina”.
ASouthernLife: You play Kristina, one of the paranormal investigators, can you tell me a little more about the character and her relationship to the other team members?
Jami Tennille: Kristina was a little more timid and fearful when it came to the paranormal compared to the other investigators. She despised Taylor and was friends with the rest of the team.
ASouthernLife:What drew you to the character and how did you prepare for the role? Was it easy to relate to her?
Jami Tennille: I was drawn to the project because I knew it was a great team. I always try to find parallels between the roles I play and relationships/experiences in my own life. I also watched "Paranormal". I never watch horror films so i wanted that perspective. I found it easy to relate to Kristina. She has interesting hobbies, she sticks up for herself and isn't afraid to drop an F bomb when necessary....enough said.
-Kristina
ASouthernLife: You have worked with Jordan Pacheco and David Langill in the past. How did you meet the two and how has it been working with them on "Provoked"?
Jami Tennille: I met both of these fine gentlemen on the set of another feature Almost Human. It was comforting being on another project and knowing how kind and fun they both are. I love working with them both!
ASouthernLife: Have you always been interested in paranormal research or is something you had to learn for this role?
Jami Tennille: The idea that "spirits, souls, ghosts" exist or are present in our lives has always intrigued me. The equipment and specific terminology I had to learn for the role.
ASouthernLife: Have you experienced any paranormal activity while filming "Provoked"?
Jami Tennille: When we did the actual paranormal investigation I definitely felt that something or someone was present with us at that moment. I was freaked out!
ASouthernLife: What has it been like for you filming inside the Lizzie Borden house"
Jami Tennille: It was exciting and interesting. The history, story and photos were amazing to read, hear and see.
ASouthernLife: You have been in some creepy movies before this project, how does this one measure up and is there any scenes that make you apprehensive?
Jami Tennille: This was the most real "creepy". The Borden house was the site of actual horrific events. It added to the creepiness...absolutely!
ASouthernLife: In the film there is measures taken to stimulate the spirits, how does your character feel about that approach to collecting evidence?
Jami Tennille: My character was the most fearful and apprehensive of the group. She would never have taken that approach.
ASouthernLife: Would you or have you ever held a sƩance or used a Ouija board to talk to the spirits?
Jami Tennille: When I was younger at slumber parties we would alway play with the Ouija board. I would do it again...after a few glasses of wine, of course!
ASouthernLife: What are some of your favorite horror movies?
Jami Tennille: The ones that stick out the most in my mind are Poltergeist, Nightmare on Elm Street and The Blair Witch Project.
ASouthernLife: Who in the cast do you think would be most scared by a paranormal experience?
Jami Tennille: Sean Carmicheal....hands down.

A Demon's Nature: An Excerpt From Forthcoming Novel Demon In The Mist
Below is a passage from my forthcoming novel Demon In The Mist. It shows the nature, and drive of the creature the reality Karen Ison and her friends must face in order to survive the creature, that has invaded their world.
Excerpt from Demon In The Mist:
It
was weakened by the old man and his magic. It knew this magic well.
The magic that held them back from this realm for eons, keeping them
from feeding upon these hideous creations. It felt angered by the
man's power against It. Demon should be controlled by no one, not
even the wretched gods that invaded and took claim on their sacred
darkness. It was abomination against the chaos to allow these
creatures life, with these foul sounds, smells and illuminations.
It
did not want for this world. It wanted to be back with Its own
malevolent forces. It loathed this disconnected place, where the
vibrations and light burned, causing it pain. The darkness here in
this world was not even equal to the darkness of the true chaos. How
it longed to be back in the solemn abyss joined eternally in the void
with Its on kind. It knew though that this place forced the dark ones
to exist in torment next to man's light. They
were abomination and demon demanded their blood. Would taste their
flesh and devour there life until the songs were vibrant no more.
This was what It was driven to do. The only connection It felt to
this place, this realm of man was a destined destruction. It craved
it with the passion. It desired to return to the abyss.
It
was hungry now. The old man had weakened It with his magic. Had
caused it pain. It needed to feed once more upon the fluid that ran
through these things. It was stronger until the old man sent it
hurling back into the hills, forcing it to disperse into the mist. It
lost most of the energy It had acquired- now It wanted -no-needed
more so that It may fight this magic man, who was not of natural man.
Demon knew the smell of the old man. The old man was deity. Forged
from magic and light of the gods to rid demon from man's world.
Deities held back demon's from entering this realm and feeding on
man. They were more of abomination than man himself. Deity had magic
of gods. It wanted to feed on deity as well.
It knew the deity's energy
would be enough to allow demons to break the mystical barrier and
devour this putrid world with it's songs and smells. Things that
created a eternal pain and contempt throughout the darkness. The
darkness had came first and was the true form of everything. Then
gods came with their light and magic beating back the dark. Caging
demon against a veil of insufferable sounds, that taunted the dark
with things of man.

Check Out The Sales Trailer For “Missionary”
The sales trailer for horror thriller “Missionary” has surfaced. The film is directed by Anthony DiBlasi and stars Cynthia Calhoun, Gricel Castineira, Jeff Chase, Connor Christie. Missionary is a dramatic thriller about a single mother who gets romantically involved with a Mormon missionary. When she decides to get back with her ex-husband, she discovers that the missionary is not who he seems, and will stop at nothing to get her back.
In a statement to ShockTillYouDrop, DiBlasi had this to say of the film; "Missionary is a film I'm extremely proud of and can't wait for the public to see. Today we have a couple unofficial things leaking on line from Cannes, and as foreign sales goes, sometimes those things are not exactly representative of the film itself but made to sell the film for an international market," He went on to add, “So, with that said, if our Missionary poster comes across your desk, let me go on record saying that our Missionary doesn't ever hold a butcher knife! And for some reason my Missionary's nipples say Midnight Meat Train! But other then that, enjoy the unofficial sneak peak! Official stuff coming your way soon!"
I have posted that bloody sales poster below….

A Model Lead For Ass Kicking: My Interview With Actress Lindsay Norman
Four days ago I broke the news story that Andee Martin has bowed out of the lead role in Jeremy Campbell’s feature film adaptation of “Velvet Vengeance”. Campbell had posted the news on the film’s Facebook Page, where he declared the replacement actress taking on the iconic role as heroine, to be Lindsay Norman. The split between Martin and the project was very amicable and the project is still on course. With Lindsay taking over the role I must admit it does seem to open the film up to a larger visual and conceptual dynamic. The actress is stunning to say the least, and with two projects already in production (Sylance 3D, The Prodigal), there is no denying that Norman has the makings of a very strong female ass-kicking lead. So of course I jumped on the opportunity to talk to this former Army “brat” and rising star.
Lindsay Norman grew up as a military child born in Monterey, California. After moving from several communities, much like military kids often do, it seems Texas has been home for most of her younger years. I have to say that the state is better for it. Acting it seems has just been a natural progression of the young actresses’ journey of discovery. After high school she won a scholarship to John Casablancas Modeling and Acting School where she realized her passion for acting while doing Improv. Lindsay Norman is multi-talented and very focused about who she is and where she wants to go in life as you will discover from our interview.
ASouthernLife: When did you realize you wanted to become an actress, was there one specific moment?
Lindsay Norman: I would say it was when I started doing Improv. I didn’t start my training with scenes, I started with improv. I honestly think that is a strength of mine and I enjoy letting my mind wonder. This is when I felt it was necessary to start expanding into different skill sets and learn more! Now there is no way you can stop me! I’m addicted!
ASouthernLife: You won the John Casablancas scholarship for Modeling and Acting, did that help direct you as far career choice or did it only heightened your interest?
Lindsay Norman: It geared me more towards the acting. I always knew I wanted to act but this really jump started my passion. I was able to meet new people and learn a few things about certain parts of the industry.
ASouthernLife: Being an army "Brat", something that requires discipline or set standards, was there another profession that you felt destined for before the acting "bug" hit you?
Lindsay Norman: No. I have never had a profession that fit me. I always changed it, and still find myself changing it in college. I went from a science major to a law and now I, I think, I am set and stone with majoring in business management and minoring in mathematics.
I was never satisfied in the retail, service, or event planning industry. I just felt something was missing and I wasn’t meant to be there. I am someone with ADD and with acting, its perfect! Every day I am doing something different and learning new things. This is my profession and I am a natural entertainer ready to take on the world.
ASouthernLife: In regards to taking on the role of "Alice" in Velvet Vengeance, How did you become a part of the project?
Lindsay Norman: I had previously auditioned for VV and from what I was told, did a great job. It was down to me and one other girl. I guess I stayed in the producer’s and director’s head enough that they ended up offering me the role!
ASouthernLife: Where you apprehensive about taking on the role considering the history around the project?
Lindsay Norman: Of course, in this industry everyone has to have some sort of “conscious” if you will. But then again, I only say that, because it is a business just like any other. Once I figured out the necessities, I of course accepted the role and was more and more excited the more I read the script.
ASouthernLife: Did you see the short film prior to getting the role or know Jeremy Campbell previously?
Lindsay Norman: I have seen the short film but that is not how Jeremy and I met. I found out about the auditions and of course I auditioned. We do have a decent amount of mutual friends, we found out later, so that helped!
ASouthernLife: The role of "Alice Kersey" has a lot of physical demands, how are you preparing for the character's action sequences?
Lindsay Norman: As an actress and model it’s all about the “looks” and skill. I am currently training for a figure competition. I have a trainer and want to be on stage by August. I also took kick boxing in college and had a lot of “brothers” growing up along with being in sports my whole life. I will be able to pull off the stunts easily.
ASouthernLife: What are some of the film's scenes that you are most looking forward to shooting?
Lindsay Norman: FIGHTING SCENES OF COURSE!
ASouthernLife: Are there any expectations that you feel will really test you-as an actress?
Lindsay Norman: This character is a new character for me. She reminds me of a young Angelina Jolie. She is very determined, relentless and grounded. She seems to not waste time and take crap from anyone, I like that. She reminds me of, well, me! But of course, this is Alice and I will bring her to life. She has been through a lot and will get her revenge. This is going to be a great adventure for me as an actress and test me. I can’t wait.
ASouthernLife: You also are filming the dark thriller "Sylance" 3D, can you tell me a bit about your character-"Cindy"-in that film?
Lindsay Norman: I AM ACTUALLY NOW “TINA”… I apologize for any confusion, but Tina is a “pageant” girl, pretty ironic huh? Ha! She is a pretty girl with a Football star boyfriend. She is not the typical snooty girl, whom I like. She is shy being new to the group of people she is hanging with and is just looking to have a fun trip!
ASouthernLife: The storyline seems to have a very strong "cult-origin" theme, what drew you to the character?
Lindsay Norman: It reminded me of Children of the Corn for some reason. The cult aspect in Children of the Corn, in my opinion, was “corny”, but that was what gave character to the movie. With Sylance 3D, I enjoy the cast and production team. It is another movie that is different than what I usually am cast for. It is another project I am excited to be a part of.
ASouthernLife: Are you a big fan of horror movies? What are some of your favorite films?
Lindsay Norman: I do enjoy scary movies. I haven’t watched any lately because they don’t scare me! Old classics are the best, a few favorites are, House of 1,000 Corpses, House on Haunted Hill, The Exorcist and Poltergeist (the first one) to name a few.
Hyde Park Thriller “Every Secret Thing” In Post
The Hyde Park International's Thriller “Every Secret Thing” has in the post-production phase. The Amy Berg directed film starring Diane Lane, Elizabeth Banks, Dakota Fanning and Danielle Macdonald tells the story of Nancy Gates, an officer who is still haunted by the case of several missing young girls. She must relive that nightmare as a new case of a young girls disappears shows striking similarities. Gates believes the answers to this present-day kidnapping lie with the previous crime's perpetrators: two now-teenaged girls named Alice and Ronnie. Nancy's investigation leads her again and again to Alice—a troubled young woman guarded fiercely by her protective, eccentric mother—and it soon becomes clear that Alice's many dark secrets may hold the key to saving a little girl's life. The script was written by Nicole Holofcener and Laura Lippman.
