Andrew Pyper’s The Demonologist isn’t even scheduled to be published until March 5th 2013 and yet the novel is already being adapted for Zemeckis – Universal for a feature film. Pyper’s previous works have also gained Hollywood love. Lost Girls and The Guardians both went on to be adapted for the screen both small and theatrical. The Demonologist follows a Columbia University professor who specializes in demonic literature but himself is a profound skeptic of the occult. But when his 12-year-old daughter winds up in the grip of the actual underworld, he must use his expertise in the signs and symbols of Milton’s Paradise Lost as a guide to rescue her. Robert Zemeckis will produce the Robert Schenkkan script through his ImageMovers company for Universal Pictures. There is no director attached to the project yet.
