“Controra” is a supernatural thriller and the first feature film for director Rossella de Venuto. The film is a blended of effort of Irish and Italian talent to create a truly twisted dark tale. It stars Fiona Glascott, Pietro Ragusa, Federico Castelluccio and follows Irish Artist Megan who lives in Dublin with her Italian husband Leo. When his uncle Monsignor Domenico, a powerful Catholic priest famed for miracles, dies and leaves Leo the ancient family house they travel to Italy.Leo intends to sell to his brother Nicola, the town’s priest, but rediscovers his love for the town and old friends. Megan too is enchanted by the place. They decide to stay. During the hot midday Megan stays at home where strange presences begin to disturb her, and she uncovers clues to a family mystery Leo refuses to discuss. Meeting Father Von Galen, sent to investigate Domenico’s beatification, Megan soon finds herself in a dangerous struggle against forces willing to hide the truth at all costs. “Controra” is currently in post-production.
