“Dementamania” is a British horror movie that battles the worst of human nightmares. Those which we create within our own imagination. However the real terror lies in not knowing that which is only imagined and is reality. In this psychological horror film an office worker fights that very terrifying situation when he can no longer decipher the reality of his mundane life and those things which spring from the depths of his mind. The film will be produced through Ronin Pictures, Opix Films, Green Screen Productions and Stealth Media Group with principle photography scheduled for October 1st 2012. Slated for a 2013 spring release “Dementamania” will be directed by Kit Ryan whose past film “Botched” won best feature at NYC Horror Film Festival 2007. Check out the released storyboard art for the film.
Synopsis: Frustrated with the social injustice he must face every day and the bureaucratic culture of the office he works in EDWARD ARKHAM is at boiling point.
Although successful in his job, working for a leading IT consultancy, years of routine have taken their toll, his work now seeming so unbearably monotonous, fuelling his frustration and bitterness.
When Edward is stung by a mysterious bug, it results in a painful and aggressive rash. It also unlocks the door to a secret world inside his head causing nightmarish fantasies to manifest themselves within vivid hallucinations. As the rash spreads and threatens to envelop his entire body, his visions become more real and reality begins to drift further and further away.
Are these apparitions solely bound to the confines of his mind or are their other unknown forces at work and is he part of something more sinister than he could possibly imagine?
“Dementamania” is slated to star Samuel Robertson (Beaver Fills, Hot Hot Hot, Being Victor), Vincent Regan (Lockout, Unleashed, Clash of the Titans), Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Superman Returns, Epic Movie), Geoff Bell (Scoop, RocknRolla, War House). You can keep up the film through the movie’s Facebook Page and Website. For the moment the website is not fully functioning as the film is only in the early stages of pre-production but should be warping reality in the near future. Reality Is Not An Option as definitely grabbed my curiosity for this one.
