The Axeman Cometh: The Killing Machine That Is Scot Pollard

scot pollard - CopyScot Pollard may have made a name for himself in the NBA but he is about to be known as the face of terror. In his eleven year career he was known for two things, his defensive presence on the court and his many transformations of style which garnered him a lot of comparison to another NBA legend- Dennis Rodman. His ever changing hairstyles along with many notable designs of his facial hair made him seem as a rather madman of basketball. I am sure his opponents on the court found it distracting if not down right intimidating. I know that if I saw a 6 ft. 11 in. powerhouse coming at me with a blonde short mohawk and ponytailed beard I would be a bit fluxed. Worse even is that same frame charging toward me with mutton chops and long wavy hair, showing more appearance akin to a Viking gangster out of the 70’s than an NBA superstar but then again I think that was the point. To keep the other guy guessing and intimidated. Now that Scot is off the court he has found a new arena to parlay that creative force of intimidation. The non-stop presence of a homicidal killing machine that Scot Pollard himself is a role “tailor-made” for him. The Axeman cometh and let the terror begin.

Scot Pollard will soon be stepping into the role of Joston Theney’s ultimate evil known as the Axeman in “The Axeman At Cutter’s Creek”. It is a slasher film that plans to redefine what a psychotic killer can be. An intelligent monster driven out of sheer will to destroy life with brutality and cunning and purpose. The film is currently filming and with the awesome presence that is Scot Pollard giving rise to this legend of nightmares it should one hell of a scary show. Scot considers the character of the Axeman as “ a killing machine-big and scary-lurking in the shadows.” He told me that the character has “no joy, no pain, nothing inside him driving him except that primitive need to kill”. This is a role that is suited to Scot Pollard who considers himself to be big and scary and perfect for the part. A sentiment  echoed by Joston Theney himself having came across Scot Pollard when searching for the perfect person to play his methodical monster. A legend that in terror that is sure to bring new life into the mythos of the slasher.

“The Axeman At Cutter’s Creek” will be Scot Pollards second film as a near supernatural force of evil having recently played “El Monstuo” in the horror anthology “Barrio Tales” 2012. The Axeman will create a new playground for Scot Pollard to intimidate the hell out of as the story has been sold as a trilogy with Scot Pollard more than willing to keep the blood flowing as the maniacal force known as the Axeman. Not that scary and psychotic is what actually defines Scot Pollard but it does allow him to explore his second dream which motivated him as a child – acting. When I asked him about acting after a notable career in the NBA, he said that as a kid he always wanted to be on the big screen entertaining. He found roles in school plays and was always performing skits to show his talent as a kid, performing for family and friends. Of coarse he notes that there were no noticeable leading men of great height in the movies, oh and there is the fact that he had some serious basketball skills.

Now that Scot Pollards days on the court are professionally behind him at the moment he has time to focus on acting and also as a budding producer. Besides his role as the Axeman and having been in an anthology Scot also is a producer for another project that manages to combine both of his loves, Movies and Basketball. His project “The Jayhawkers” which tells the story of Kansas legendary coach Forrest “Phog” Allen, a man who basically gave us the NCAA. Well he created the National Association Of Basketball Coaches which then went on to create the NCAA but –same thing! Anyway Scot Pollard as well as the other members of the film are currently working to bring the “Phog” story to basketball fans everywhere. Plus Pollard is also working on a television project which proves that the guy is more than just big and scary. Although as a horror fan I have to say – big and scary is more than enough to get my praise. Although hearing that his favorite films where the classic tales of “The Toxic Avenger” and the original “Nightmare On Elm Street” is enough to make anyone relate to the guy even as he is about to scare the shit out of horror fans as a soulless, unstoppable killing force. Actually I think that is the biggest thing I connect with, I have always had a strange attraction to those horror characters who were goliaths filled with either rage or pure evil completely and utterly driven to kill and create chaos, but I am that truly twisted kinda gay. Anyway there is obviously a lot more “game” in Scot Pollard than one facet of life can contain which should transition easily in what ever he tackles in life but no this for sure and be warned “The Axeman At Cutter’s Creek” with Scot Pollard as the Axeman is about to give us all one hell of ride into terror.
