A crowd funding campaign has kicked off for the psychological thriller “Dark”. Directed by Nick Basile from a script written by Elias, “Dark” is set in New York City during the 2003 blackout, DARK’s story centers on Kate, a disturbed young woman who confronts her worst fears when she finds herself trapped alone in a Brooklyn loft when the power goes out. The legendary horror director Joe Dante has jumped on board the project as producer. Together the team hopes to raise $50,000 to help cover associated production costs over on Kickstarter.
“I’ve always been attracted to projects by young filmmakers who are trying to do something within their means,” says Dante, “DARK has been conceived in this manner and has the opportunity to be a very suspenseful and commercial picture.” Campaign perks will range from exclusive Gremlins memorabilia to Blu-ray’s of The Howling – Collector’s Edition, autographed by Dante himself. Higher level rewards will include visits to the set and walk-on roles. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Joe Dante on DARK,” says Basile, “and we can’t think of a better time to launch the campaign than the 10th anniversary of the blackout.”
