The Annual Purge Hits The Small Screen With New Series

Via Blumhouse.com:

Writer-director James DeMonaco, creator of the PURGE universe, will act as a showrunner for the cable TV series, which is one of the first to be produced by Blumhouse and Universal Cable Productions as part of Blumhouse TV’s newly-formed partnership with ITV Studios.
DeMonaco first broke the news about the television project last summer in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and it’s now confirmed the new series (full title TBD) will air on USA and SyFy.
We are excited that with the launch of this new studio, we are expanding our partnership with NBCUniversal by growing THE PURGE franchise into a television series,” announced Blumhouse founder & CEO Jason Blum, “and are grateful for their incredible support of Blumhouse overall.”
Details are still forthcoming about the project timeline, production dates and its place in the feature-film PURGE canon, but rumor has it the show may take the form of a loose anthology, running parallel to the events of the three films (with a fourth now in development).
