Check Out The U.S. Trailer For Dominik Moll’s “The Monk”



The MonkDominik Moll’s gothic thriller “The Monk” is finally hitting U.S shores. The film will see a limited theatrical release on March 8th. It stars Vincent Cassel, Deborah Francois, Josephine Japy and Catherine Mouchet. The fact that this film originally was released in July 2011 makes me wonder if the amount of time it took to be released here left a lot of the movie on the cutting room floor? I hope it was more to do with rights deals than content issues. The film is based on the 1796 novel by Matthew Lewis. It was not well received by the critics and the only reason this story is alive today is because it was preserved by readers eager to read the book condemned as “profane and obscene”.
