“Fright Night 2: New Blood” is the straight to DVD release sequel to the 2011 remake. The film will be a test of horror fans of the franchise, I included. First of all I was not that thrilled with the results of “Fright Night” 2011. It fell flat which sucked because it had so much potential. That being said I was still thrilled to see the franchise rebooted. Now for “Fright Night 2”. I am a big fan of Jaime Murray-even before she took on the role of Stahma Tarr in Defiance. That has me eager to see “Fright Night 2: New Blood”.
The test to my fandom will come in the fact that no original 2011 characters are returning, not to mention that the film is completely ignoring the events of the first film all together, instead opting to tell a whole new nightmare adventure with the characters. That is pretty risky and kind of comes off as a cinematic dis to the remake. Still I am eager to see this new tale because like I said, I am just happy to see the franchise rebooted and I love Jaime Murray’s work.
“Fright Night 2: New Blood” hits DVD/Blu-ray on October 1st and is directed by Eduardo Rodriguez. The film costars Will Payne, Sean Power, Sacha Parkinson as Murray takes on the iconic vampire role of Gerri Dandridge. Check out the latest images and box art for this new sequel. Plus if you haven’t already you can enjoy the trailer below.
When high school student Charlie attends a study abroad program with his horror obsessed friend “Evil” Ed and ex- girlfriend AMY in Romania, he soon discovers their young attractive professor Gerri (Jaime Murray) is a real life vampire. Too bad no one believes him. In fact, Evil Ed finds it amusing and it only feeds his vampire obsession. When Gerri turns Ed, Charlie seeks out Peter Vincent, the infamous vampire hunter (well, he plays one on TV) who is in Romania filming his show “Fright Night,” to teach him how to take down Gerri before she gets to Amy, who’s blood will cure Gerri of spending eternity as a vampire.
