Pagan Festival Shout Out: Suijin Matsuri

Suijin Matsuri: Shinto rite honoring the Kami of Water.

The term Suijin (literally water kami or water deity) refers to the many heavenly and earthly manifestations of the benevolent Shintō divinity of water. But it also refers to a wide variety of mythological and magical creatures found in lakes, ponds, springs and wells, including serpents (snakes and dragons), eels, fish, turtles, and the flesh-eating kappa.

The observances have the significant role of exorcism of bad spirits and purification, especially aimed at dangerous epidemic diseases and water-related disasters which commonly happen during the summer.

Following a ceremony in the neighborhood shrine, the local men carry the mikoshi (portable shrine) to the accompaniment of flute and drum.
It is taken down to a boat waiting at the river’s edge. One boat carries the mikoshi, the musicians, three priests, three boatmen while a second boat carries a group of young men and several ceremonial bamboo, gohei (a ritual wand) and sakaki (Cleyera japonica) branches.

Hell House LLC Heads to Theaters for a Special One Day Event

Hell House LLC Heads to Theaters for a Special One Day Event Leading up to the Premiere of Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire!

Friday, June 14th, 2019: YES, you read that right! As part of the lead up to the official premiere of Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire exclusively available on SHUDDER this fall, genre distributor TERROR FILMS is releasing the original Hell House LLC in theaters - for the FIRST TIME! The release will take part across multiple cities for a one-night special event screening.

There are several cities where Hell House LLC is expected to play already. The cities hosting the film include: Chicago, Hazleton & Scranton PA, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Orlando, San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis. More cities will follow soon so stay tuned and keep checking the event link for a city near you. There is a catch, though...

Each city must meet its individual theatrical ticket sales threshold by the cutoff date listed on the site. If a city does not meet this threshold by its cutoff date, the screening will be pulled from that location. This is where the fans come in!

TERROR FILMS is requesting Volunteer Ambassadors for each city. These ambassadors will be tasked with not only helping to drive awareness and tickets sales but to also help check people in at the theater on the night of the event. Each volunteer, no more than two per city – eighteen years of age and up, who are chosen to assist in this process will receive a FREE limited-edition poster showcasing all three of the Hell House LLC posters. A sample mock up - minus the Hell House LLC III: Lake of Fire poster, has been included here.

Terror Films’ President Joe Dain has a few words on this theatrical launch for Hell House LLC. He says of the multi-city release: “we wanted to go above and beyond for this final installment and give all of the amazing fans a special treat. After all, without them Hell House LLC would not have become the digital phenomenon that it is, reaching near genre cult status. What better way than giving fans an opportunity to experience the original film in a theatrical setting with killer 5.1 surround sound.” The theatrical experience cannot be beat.

The one night special event screening date for Hell House LLC is set for September 4th, 2019 at 7:00pm. Tickets can be purchased by visiting this link:https://www.tugg.com/titles/hell-house-llc

The application process is now live. If you live in one of the cities listed on the site and want to be a HELL HOUSE LLC Volunteer Ambassador, send your name and the city that you would be able to assist to: hellhousellcambassadors@gmail.com
